  1. Thanks Greisingel for the suggestion - it makes sense. I shall have a look. Thanks again
  2. Thanks to Herbie and Dave 450h. Both very informative and I’ve learned a bit more about my RX450h. Interestingly the code has now disappeared after having a look at the 12v battery my husband found a ‘breather’ pipe disconnected. After reconnecting I started up and the code was gone! The car drove beautifully back from Tuscany to England. Keeping everything crossed she behaves herself going forward……. I really did appreciate the replies I received so thank you.
  3. Thanks Spock66! Unfortunately I don’t have that widget thing that provides fault codes with me. Lesson to be learned when planning road trip! Running purely as petrol engine so no hybrid at all. May try disconnecting the 12V to try and reboot?
  4. Just driven from uk to Italy and for first time ever a Check Hybrid warning light (in yellow not red) has come on. No apparent issues with the car - any suggestions?
  5. But have had an rac advisory which advised coolant pipe etc. hope this helps
  6. Gosh that’s really kind of you! Car is in Bristol and I’m 100 miles away. So no chance of photos as son in Middle of medical exams and focussed elsewhere which I completely get! The car is a uk x reg - I think it’s purely an IS200 no add one.
  7. My student son has been using our 23 year old IS200 and the old girl has had a few ageing issues. Most recent issue is a leak from the coolant pipe at the rear of the engine. Is this a difficult (aka very expensive) repair? We all love the car and will be sad to see her go……. Other than when she’s not behaving she runs like a dream! Has had a new radiator fitted within last 12 months. Has anybody got experience of having this leak issue and any wise words much appreciated! Thanks
  8. Could someone tell me what the minimum pad thickness is please for the front brakes of a 2010 RX450H? Thank you.
  9. My RX450h occasionally makes a loud bang like someone has just hit the car when switching from hybrid to petrol - it only happens when the car is stationary. Certainly makes me jump! Any ideas on what could be causing this phenomenon please? Car is into dealership for its 50000 service this week.
  10. Hissy Fit update! Lexus had her back to deal with her oddities......... They replaced the radio! How that will resolve the reverse camera not engaging or the windscreen wipers switching on and off randomly I really don't know! However, the faults have been reported under original warranty so hopefully she will be covered for any further issues........ I shall keep you posted.
  11. Hey thanks all for your very good advice - as having dodgy moments with radio/windscreen wipers and reverse camera I forked out for the warranty if only so I can sleep at night! Really appreciate your comments on this - what a great forum you people have!
  12. Hi Rayaans, bought the car from Lexus Milton Keynes as pre used last year. Hope it hasn't been messed with....... How would I know?
  13. Hi ChrisKaye. Thanks for your suggestion! I still have the car and if the fault occurs before she goes back up to the dealership next Thursday I shall try and get someone to have a look. Possibly easier to that than trust her not to run me over whilst I check out the lights........😳. In any case, I shall draw that possibility to the Service Department's attention. Last time they simply changed the camera unit but despite this the intermittent fault is still occurring, albeit rarely. I wonder if the radio and windscreen wipers could also be down to faulty switches? I really appreciate your assistance.
  14. Thanks DanD. Dilemma! Mine is just at about 40,000 miles for a 2010 plate so a long way to go to Tom's 75k. However, with the car going back to Lexus under warranty next week for reverse camera not engaging occasionally issues, windscreen wipers switching on randomly in sunny weather and a radio which likes to switch itself on and off repeatedly I rather feel there may be trouble ahead........! So perhaps the peace of mind a £1000 warranty will bring may be worthwhile. Thanks for your sage advice.
  15. Thanks Ricewind - I shall pass both links to my husband and let you know how he fares!
  16. Hi Rayaans! Thanks for advice - the mirrors usually tilt unless the reverse camera doesn't engage. Hopefully Lexus will sort the problem so that everything engages as it should when reverse is selected........... I shall report back.
  17. I am posting here on behalf of my husband who has an elderly IS200 which has a fair few miles on the clock! The heating system has been playing up and warm air is only being blown out on the driver's side of the car. Which means my feet as a passenger are getting pretty cold!!! He has performed a 'reverse flush' three times now and although it is a little warmer it has not completely resolved the issue. Any suggestions of what to put into the matrix to flush it through? I was thinking dishwasher cleaner...... Otherwise it's fully insulated boots and duvet coat for me for the rest of winter! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you!
  18. Have you been driving your car through rivers😱 Seems to be a lot of leaking going on! Thanks for advice, I think I will bite the bullet and pay out for the extended warranty...... Although coming the same time as motor insurance renewal it is not ideal timing!! Thanks again.
  19. Ok Lexus are having the car in next week for a couple of days and have informed the warranty company of the reported faults. I am wondering if the reverse camera issue is related to the relay between the gears and computer as the mirrors also do not tilt down as they would usually do when the camera comes on. And coupled with the radio and windscreen wipers switching on and off whenever they feel like it leads me to wonder about the software which controls the car. I assume that there is some computer type gizmo controlling most of the functions of the car - perhaps it is this that is causing all the odd problems. Anyway, thanks to all for your wise words, I shall report back when the car comes back from Lexus.
  20. With my warranty on a 2010 RX450h due to expire this week, does anyone think that extending the warranty @ a cost of £1000 for 2 years worth having? The warranty only covers 'faults' and not anything associated with wear and tear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  21. I have had my super RX450h for just under a year (warranty expires next week!) and she has started to play up in quite a timely fashion! It started with the reverse camera intermittently not engaging despite having selected reverse gear. Camera was replaced by Lexus. Still, albeit rarely, the camera doesn't always engage. Enter problems 2 & 3 - the radio and windscreen wipers are switching on and off independently (despite being dry weather)! Car off to Lexus for inspection but as all are intermittent faults I am concerned they won't find anything and when these faults occur after the warranty has expired I will be handed a rather large repair bill!!!
  22. rx450h rolling backwards.........is it normal?

Having taken delivery of a pre-used 2010 rx450h I am having fun & games getting to grips with her! Forgive me if this is a daft question (I am sure I will ask more!) but is it usual for the car to roll back when on a small incline? Yesterday I was waiting to give way to oncoming traffic and whilst the gearbox was in Drive she started slowly rolling back down the hill and didn't stop until I applied the brakes! My old Merc which I chopped in to get the Lexus didn't...

  23. Hi I have just bought my first Lexus having run my old Merc E230 for the last 14 years - sadly she had to go as like a lot of old ladies the body was failing but her heart was strong! Enter pre-used 2010 RX450h! I have had her now for 2 weeks and love everything about her........... except - is it normal to roll backwards when on an incline (waiting in traffic)? My Merc didn't do this so I was a tad spooked when the Lexus did........ any advice before I take her back to the dealership tomorrow would be greatly appreciated! Also the radio is pretty dismal when driving past buildings, hedges, trees etc. Again, is this par for the course and we should all be listening to our iPhones? Thanks
