I had the same issue on mine years ago, a new 12V Battery, and all was good

Thanks for this Prince Bob! You may have an excellent take on this - just checked the 12v and although the flow is 11.55v there is a small amount of clear liquid sitting in the tray underneath the battery…….. ?acid? No litmus paper to test! When we had the warning light come on 10 months ago the pipe at the top of the Battery was disconnected- anything to do with the liquid which has appeared?

  2. Thanks to Herbie and Dave 450h.  Both very informative and I’ve learned a bit more about my RX450h.  Interestingly the code has now disappeared after having a look at the 12v Battery my husband found a ‘breather’ pipe disconnected.  After reconnecting I started up and the code was gone!  The car drove beautifully back from Tuscany to England. Keeping everything crossed she behaves herself going forward…….

I really did appreciate the replies I received so thank you.

  3. My student son has been using our 23 year old IS200 and the old girl has had a few ageing issues.  Most recent issue is a leak from the coolant pipe at the rear of the engine.  Is this a difficult (aka very expensive) repair?  We all love the car and will be sad to see her go……. Other than when she’s not behaving she runs like a dream!  Has had a new radiator fitted within last 12 months.

Has anybody got experience of having this leak issue and any wise words much appreciated!  Thanks

  4. Hi ChrisKaye.  Thanks for your suggestion! I still have the car and if the fault occurs before she goes back up to the dealership next Thursday I shall try and get someone to have a look.   Possibly easier to that than trust her not to run me over whilst I check out the lights........😳.  In any case, I shall draw that possibility to the Service Department's attention.  Last time they simply changed the camera unit but despite this the intermittent fault is still occurring, albeit rarely.  I wonder if the radio and windscreen wipers could also be down to faulty switches? I really appreciate your assistance.

  5. Thanks DanD. Dilemma! Mine is just at about 40,000 miles for a 2010 plate so a long way to go to Tom's 75k.  However, with the car going back to Lexus under warranty next week for reverse camera not engaging occasionally issues, windscreen wipers switching on randomly in sunny weather and a radio which likes to switch itself on and off repeatedly I rather feel there may be trouble ahead........!  So perhaps the peace of mind a £1000 warranty will bring may be worthwhile. Thanks for your sage advice.

  6. I am posting here on behalf of my husband who has an elderly IS200 which has a fair few miles on the clock!  The heating system has been playing up and warm air is only being blown out on the driver's side of the car.  Which means my feet as a passenger are getting pretty cold!!! He has performed a 'reverse flush' three times now and although it is a little warmer it has not completely resolved the issue.  Any suggestions of what to put into the matrix to flush it through?  I was thinking dishwasher cleaner...... Otherwise it's fully insulated boots and duvet coat for me for the rest of winter! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

  7. Ok Lexus are having the car in next week for a couple of days and have informed the warranty company of the reported faults. I am wondering if the reverse camera issue is related to the relay between the gears and computer as the mirrors also do not tilt down as they would usually do when the camera comes on.  And coupled with the radio and windscreen wipers switching on and off whenever they feel like it leads me to wonder about the software which controls the car.  I assume that there is some computer type gizmo controlling most of the functions of the car - perhaps it is this that is causing all the odd problems.  Anyway, thanks to all for your wise words, I shall report back when the car comes back from Lexus.

  8. I have had my super RX450h for just under a year (warranty expires next week!) and she has started to play up in quite a timely fashion! It started with the reverse camera intermittently not engaging despite having selected reverse gear.  Camera was replaced by Lexus.  Still, albeit rarely, the camera doesn't always engage.  Enter problems 2 & 3 - the radio and windscreen wipers are switching on and off independently (despite being dry weather)!  Car off to Lexus for inspection but as all are intermittent faults I am concerned they won't find anything and when these faults occur after the warranty has expired I will be handed a rather large repair bill!!!

  9. Hi

I have just bought my first Lexus having run my old Merc E230 for the last 14 years - sadly she had to go as like a lot of old ladies the body was failing but her heart was strong!

Enter pre-used 2010 RX450h! I have had her now for 2 weeks and love everything about her........... except - is it normal to roll backwards when on an incline (waiting in traffic)? My Merc didn't do this so I was a tad spooked when the Lexus did........ any advice before I take her back to the dealership tomorrow would be greatly appreciated!

Also the radio is pretty dismal when driving past buildings, hedges, trees etc. Again, is this par for the course and we should all be listening to our iPhones?

    Thanks
