  1. The car has been re-valetted, and I'm happy with the result.

The leather seat smear that looked like glue in manufacturing, they couldn't budge. The think it is in the actual leather, so will be directing through the warrenty guy, who is out today.

The scratch on the plastic trim was just veltted over, bit still visible as a fine white line. I will mention that again when they come back about the warrenty bit.

Been offered 15% off the service plan over the 3 years, working out a saving of £140.20. Going to mull that over, would like a free intermediate to commit to the one Dealer for 3 years.

    David.

  2. Well, met the Manager this morning, and they'll be in touch to get the car in to remedy the issues.

He said they'd lost their excellent valet, and have had issues with one of their replacements, who has since been fired.

He thought all the issues are probably valeting ones.

So I'll need to hold fire on my cleaning stint.

  3. Needs a proper (non-Lexus) clean, but I'll need to wait until the following snags have been sorted out:
    Poor initial valet
glue on rear leather seat side
line marks and indentations on front of same leather seat.
gouge on plastic wheel arch by rear seat
I got the Lexus assistance paperwork today, although they missed the last character off the reg number on the card

  4. Glad you've got the car, congratulations. Funny you should mention the indictors. As today was the first real run of note with my Wife in the car. She said exactly the same thing about them.

As with any other car I've owned. The click is more pronounced, and the stalk is at an angle.

I'm not too bothered really. I just need to get the touch sensitivity for the 1st stage '3' flash, instead of selecting the constant, and not realising they are still on.

    David.

  5. Am I right in believing you get 3 years Lexus roadside Assistance when buying a new car?

As I have nothing in my documentation to say so.

I am expecting a follow up car from the Lexus guy in the next 2 days. So will ask the too, along with a couple

    of gripes:

    Cleaning:

The passenger side dash has water/cleaner marks on the surface

The rear leather seats had marks on them

The glass on the dails have a water mark on them, so when the sunlight hits it, it is obscured.

Yes, I could clean them myself, but this is not the finish I'd expect for a new car.

When my Honda had a service, it came back cleaner than that.

On a brighter note, I do like the BMW's and Merc's slowing down to gorp :driving:

  6. Absolutely crackin motor. Don't I just love those wheels eh!!!! The one thing I don't like about mine is the wheels.

It was a fight between the Premier and the F-Sport. I rather fancied the ACC on the Premier, but preferred the look of the F-Sport. Although my Wife preferred the Premier, as she said it looked more classy.

    David.

  7. Yes Colin, I'd not buy without a full main dealer history either.

Just had the Honda Jazz MOT'd by Honda, 9yr old and 116k and it sailed through. It has been the same main dealer serviced since new, with no issues under service plans.

Although this could be construed to be a testament to the car's build quality perhaps more that the servicing. But my Son will get it on Tuesday as his commute car, to save on his car mileage, can see it going to 200k.

  8. While I was getting the 3 comlimentory Insurance verified. I'd thought I'd humour the with an insurance quote. They said how does that compare? I laughed and said well hat is more than double what I'm going to be paying with my current insurance company. So then came the "we only use genuine Lexus parts ... blah, blah"! I laughed again, well I'd expect that if I was getting any repair at a Lexus dealership. Oh not all insurance companies let you go to the main dealers, maybe so. But do they really think people who by there vehicles haven't been around the block a bit, and are so dim?

I phoned my current Insurance company, and I'm covered by them for the first year as far as Gap insurance is concerned. But I will get an independent quote for Gap insurance for subsequent years. We did that for my Sons car, and it was far better value. As long as you check reviews of them first.
