  1. I've not looked into the offer in all honesty so it may be that its different prices for different models? Did you get yours sorted Navin? When i cleared out the EGR myself i had to disconnect the battery to remove it which cleared the lights, have you tried this? If they don't clear i would guess it is the DPF. Im not the best with cars to be honest but a quick search found numerous garages nearby who can deal with DPF cleaning.
  2. Do you have a link for that offer please Stuart, as the only 2 year offer I could find was £795 for the is220/200d :( The offer is available on the official Scottish Lexus site so it may not be available in other parts of the UK http://www.lexusscotland.co.uk/servicing/warranty.php?gclid=Cj0KEQjwr8uuBRCcg6-s-4TrmIsBEiQAN1TdETWyaPL4vwwZiOawrX0XX3r5I82FIf1IEJBezenybssaAo_V8P8HAQ
  3. i'll probably head out to the Lexus Dealer tomorrow then to talk about the warranty. Mine is a pearlescent white too but the handbook has the colour listed as caspian blue. I'll ask at the dealer and see if they know, theres a coupe of small paint chips to take care of so i want to make sure i get the right stuff! Tanks for all your help and advice so far!
  4. Its been a week now since i cleaned out the EGR, i also had plenty of time to take the car out on a few long drives in the hope of burning off anything in the DPF and some time this week i should be able to get it plugged in to see if we can see what the levels are like in the filter. Im happy that the car is running smoothly now, power is good and lights have stayed off so fingers crossed everything is good! I have made the dealer aware of the problems I've had so far though and i do have a few months warranty on it. I also saw an ad on the Lexus site for 2 years warranty for the price of one. Is this a good deal at £500? Do you have the Caspian Blue pearlescent paint job on yours Normski?
  5. Back again. So I had a bit of a closer look at the EGR and popped off to Halfords and bought a can of EGR cleaning spray. There was a fair amount of crap in there but I managed to clear out most of it once I had removed it and I also added a bottle of DPF cleaning additive To a full tank of shell VPower diesel. When I started up it stalled immediately which had me worried but I started it up again and after a bit of spluttering it seemed to run fine. I could only drive it for about 20 mins in town today but it certainly seemed to be running ok, still seemed a little weak at low revs though but maybe that's just what diesels are like I've no frame of reference lol. As I had to disconnect the battery to get the EGR out, the warning lights are now clear so I'll take it out for a good drive tomorrow. Do you guys put any faith in these additives you can buy to clear out various components? Also I've been reading about the jet wash method of cleaning. The DPF, is this a good/bad idea?
  6. Thats at the back of my mind but its a little more complicated as i actually traded in two cars for it outright and i don't really want either of them back in my life lol. I won't really know for sure until i get it looked at properly but if it is genuinely a DPF issue then id rather get that sorted and keep the car maintained as is should be. Im a glass half full person :) Looking back at the MOT history its only been doing 4000 miles a year for the past 4 years so I'm guessing its just not being run the way a diesel engine needs. I'll post tomorrow how i get on with the EGR and again once i get the code read, i have a friend with a garage so i know he will look after me if he can with parts and labour and most importantly will be honest (to the extent of what he knows of course)
  7. Hi everyone. Ive been reading this thread with interest and feel i may be suffering the same problem. Ive just joined the Lexus club and hope the info I've read here will point me in the right direction to getting my new car running the way it should. Its a 2008 IS220d and has just turned 40'000 miles. I only bought it on Tuesday and while driving home yesterday, up popped the warning light combination displayed at the start of this thread. The car went into limp mode almost immediately ( i didn't know such a thing existed as I'm a motorcycle rider ) I had a quick look last night at the forums and came across the DPF issue and filter clearing method of driving above 2000rpm so i managed to get her on the A1 for a 45minute drive and spent most of that between 2500 and 3000rpm and she seemed to run ok when i got back into town. I then drove to work this morning and found it went into limp mode again after 10 minutes however i noticed before then that performance up to 2000 rpm was pathetic compared to before the run and performance above 2000rpm was much more responsive than before the run. The car came with a 3 month warranty but i won't be able to get it to a garage till Monday and the warranty booklet is pretty sketchy on wether it will cover a problem like this. I will give the EGR a clear out in the morning and maybe fill her up and use some additive too but i was wondering if anyone knows of somewhere in the Edinburgh/Central Belt area that i can have the DPF looked at other than a Lexus Dealer? Im already regretting my switch to four wheels but I'm glad there are Jedi's like Normski around to help.
