  1. Has anyone else had a problem with the ice freezing?

Had the sat nav on and  radio but they both froze, radio muted and sat nav stopped giving directions or moving the map. I tried to change the radio channel, nothing. Tried to cancel the sat nav nothing.

Had to pull of the motorway, turn off the car and restart it.

Not had the problem before or since so hopefully its just a glitch!

I'm trying to understand the difference/function of Auto and A/C (IS300h). Handbook no help. Normally I leave Auto on and then turn on A/C but next trip the Auto comes on as usual but not A/C. So I switch on again. I'm wondering if A/C only comes on automatically when the weather is warm. Both functions came on automatically a few weeks ago so maybe it is the cold ?. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Any comments gratefully received.

On another tack, can anyone advise on how to adapt the HID lights for driving in France etc.

    Thanks

No adjustment to your headlights needed for driving in France.

I emailed Lexus and got this response.

Thank you for taking the time to email us.

Lexus vehicles are made to European specification. Your current IS300h comes with a LED front fog lights with cornering light function and any vehicle that has LED or HID lights have a flat beam, which does not require any modification when travelling to Europe.

Having used the car for 3 trips to Europe in the last 4 months, I can confirm that I have had no issues and that they don't seem to dazzle oncoming traffic

i have to agree with the OP the headlights on the IS in the dark are pretty poor

the ct i had before had better headlights,i find the IS beam length is quiet short

Same here, my Audi and Mercs Xenons were much better. Had the IS lights looked at with the first service but they said they are set right.

To me the beam doesn't seem to be long or strong enough.

Could that be  why you don't need to get them adjusted for Europe?

  5. Ceramic coating is definitely the way to go if you do larger mileages. Have a search on line for detailers in your area and have a read on some sites to see if they do what you want/need. Give them a ring and they should be able to guide you to what you need. I personally wouldn't go for anyone who is mobile.

Gtechniq: Gtechniq C1 and Exo V2. C1 becomes the functional surface for the paintwork. It gives great protection and helps reduce wash marring, scratching and gives great levels of dirt repellency. That is the first part, the exo v2 boosts the look of C1 giving much more gloss and the water sheeting is unrivalled.Use exo v2 to coat other paint protection coatings it is so good at sheeting water off. It makes a car very easy to wash, a lot of the dirt is washed off with a hose (even better with a pressure washer) the shampoo and sponge or mitt glide over the surface and when rinsed off there is very little water left to dry.

I don't mind mobile detailers but they don't typically do ceramic coatings which take a while to cure. They don't have any trouble putting C quartz on though as it doesn't require too long

I agree, I know G technic need to "go off" overnight, I can't comment on C quartz as I've never used it to be honest. It all depends on what you want and how much you are willing to pay for it at the end of the day.

  7. They had it overnight as the coating needs to cure, all the work is done inside. They have a nice set up, on the day I picked my car up they were working on a brand new Ferrari 488 speciale in metallic grey that looked stunning delivered direct from the dealers. The poor guy who owned it also decided to buy an F12 while he was there.....it's a hard life for some people!!!!
