  1. It has been a long road and still is I would hazard guess.

Both Exhaust shields have been removed, and the exhaust has been checked exhaustively.

All the control arms have been checked or changed on principle, all 4 shocks were replaced, all drop link arms, anti roll bar bushes.

The boot has been emptied, linings taken off, back seats removed, all boxes disk drive, fuse box  in the boot etc were cabled tied down (not that they were loose in the first place) then taken for a drive, much to my utter horror nothing had changed.

  2. thank you all very much.... im replacing them to try and get rid of a low speed rattle/ knocking... its the last thing to replace.

I read somewhere on an american site that the bushes in them go sometimes, just firing the parts cannon at the old girl.

Somewhere in the region of 4 mechanics have heard the rattle(which means I am not going mad) but have been unable to work out what it is.

Also its gone through 3 Mots with nothing showing up even though i said hey man theres this rattle!

  3. Hmmm the heat shield i did find loose on mine also I used a rather large washer to secure it but I am still dubious about it, I wasn't sure if it was as you say a vestigial item.

Mine is similar to strutmasters I bought them from rock autos.

I had strutmasters on my old ls430.

The diff mounts I didn't check but will go out now to do so... also I am going to remove the heat shield.

A couple of months ago I took everything that wasnt nailed down out of the car from boot to glovebox and the noise was still there ( spare wheel and tools carpets the whole kit and caboodle.

    Thanks for your help guys

  4. Hi Guys,

I have a Celsior on coils and

It seems that I am unable to locate a clunking coming from the rear drivers side suspension area, which only really happens at low speeds bumpy roads.

I have checked the 3 control arms, wheel bearing and exhaust, I have changed the drop link arms, anti roll bar bushings and the rear suspension struts.

The car has also been on an mot ramp and thoroughly prodded and poked with pry bars by the appropriate skilled people to the resounding "no mate your cars fine"

There is no uneven wear on the tyre.

I'm not normally prone to tantrums but... I am starting to look at the car with a hammer in my hand fantasizing about teaching the bloody thing a good old fashioned lesson.

Would anyone perchance have any ideas or any experience with something similar?

Thanks for taking your time to read through my post any help would be most appreciated by myself and the for the moment undented car.

  5. Good evening guys,

I hope you might be able to shed some light on this one.

At low speeds (15mph ish) I have some what only can be described as rocking of the car... might be a tyre out of round ,, maybe and a whob whob noise when I corner on a round about I have checked the hubs, ball joints, anti roll bar, wheel bearings and the tyre wear is good oh and the suspension is new.

Thanks in advance any help or general banter warmly excepted

  6. Hi Rob,

Welcome to the club, I do believe that the only station you can get on a celsior radio is radio 2 well thats what I have been able to get out of mine.

My celsior came with a sony minidisc player which for me is the only time I have ever owned one (I am told they have great sound Quality) but who the ...... has sony minidiscs just laying around the house.

There was a recent thread about a stereo upgrade which you can find here

I opted for the Bluetooth unit so I can run my spotify though the cars speakers (secretly impressed that the cars skip track buttons work), It has worked out a treat and I can not believe that I did not do it years ago.

No idea what the NF button is.

I look forward to getting an update on your car, what company did you use to import it and how was the process?
