  1. My personal experience of Saga is the exact opposite.  We also own a Mazda MX5.  It is commonplace on these cars to increase the tyre size slightly, to get a greater choice.  I told the Saga call-centre about this, she checked and came back to me and said it was not a problem.  It's on my insurance that my car has increased tyre size, and there was no mention of an extra charge.

As a matter of interest, Saga offered the most competitive premium for our Mazda, but were miles out on the Lexus!  Our CT200 is insured with LV, £50+ lower premium than Saga.

    I hope this helps,

    Brian.

Trust me - they don't. It really grinds my gears to hear Americanisms like this.

Even worse is hearing someone in a pub/bakers/whatever saying, "Can I get a widget"  NO, you cannot get a widget!

You can have a widget and the person behind the counter will get it for you, but you can't get it because you don't work there!

Sorry, rant over, now going to have a hot chocolate and calm down before bed 😁

Totally agree with you on this, also when my wife and I are addressed as "guys" ; she most definitely is not a guy and the difference is very obvious.....

Are you sure that "widget" isn't an Americanism......? 😂

  3. I cannot find a record of where I bought mine from, sorry. However, it looked identical to the one in the photo on the eBay listing that cruiser Mark posted.

But, I think that based on the bit in the listing that says "Flexible and light, allowing for easy fold away and storage" I'd say they are now making them out of thin plastic because mine was anything but flexible and easy to fold!

Sorry that I cannot help you.

    Brian.

Engine failure on the autobahn in the fast lane, I don’t need to exaggerate the danger. Full service history and engine failed at 116k causing breaking and loss of balance. Had to pull over in emergency, recovered back to UK only to find out the engine collapsed for unknown reason. It was probably the odd one they get wrong once in a while.

    Hmmmm........

  5. Hello Joe, and welcome to the forum.

I would start off by saying that my advice would be to avoid any that show any signs whatsoever of neglect, and aim for one with a full and verifiable Lexus service history.

And don't be too put off by mileage, these cars wear their miles very well indeed.

I'd have thought you'd not have to spend £12000 to get a really nice one.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your search.

    Brian.

  6. I paid about £34 each including VAT for Osram bulbs with a (I think) 3 year warranty from Andrew Page motor factors. I think they have a number of branches.
You can check if the headlamp ECU is faulty by swopping the bulbs over and seeing if the fault moves to the other side too.
Beware that there are loads of fake branded bulbs about, plenty on the Internet on that, best to buy from somewhere reputable.
    HTH, Brian.

So my Dad was less than impressed by Lexus Bolton. He told them he was going to leave it.

Now he is keen on the blue one but he also likes the Silver 08 plate. Which would you go for? The Silver has done 70,000 miles and is £7800 and the Blue is £12000 but it’s got 46,000.

My Dad doesn’t like to wait really.

IMO that small mileage difference is irrelevant on a GS450h. Look at the condition and service history, if they are comparable then your Dad might as well keep the £4200 difference in the bank.

I got mine from a local garage then took it to Lexus Stockport. They put a 2 year warranty on after inspection so doesn’t need to be from a main dealer. Mine was a mint 58 Reg, one owner, flsh, 69k miles for £5k.

Similar with me. I bought mine from an independent dealer I've known for years. I bought my warranty from Lexus Stoke, and because it had been serviced at a Lexus dealership not too long ago they didn't feel a need to inspect it.

And they honoured every claim I had without question. Rear o/s central locking fault, two boot lid rams, and both door mirrors complete. We always get superb service,  and are treated as if we'd bought a brand new car actually from them.
