  1. What a co-incidence.  Had exactly the same problem also at 60k service and fortunately no serious wires were chewed.  My wife's Jazz had the same problem in the boot. We put it down to a stay at a farm in "deep" country during winter 20/21 and has made me more alert with winter again returning.  Forumed it at the time and some of the responses re what can go wrong were hairy!  😬

  2. Just had my (expensive) 60k mile service and was taken aback to be told that there was evidence of a vermin nest (mouse?) under the manifold.   We have lived in the countryside for 40 years but have never encountered this before.  Perhaps it is infrequency of use due to covid.

Appreciate any advice on how to access this area, if only to squirt in some rodent poison or similar.

  3. If it is of any help, my is300H is described as an "excutive edition cvt"  and it does have folding rear seats.   Bear in mind the parcel shelf is rigid and the clearance from boot floor is not huge but golf clubs are fine, as are skis.

And in the front seat it does feel a little cramped - snug ? - and that feeling persists after 5 years. But the seats are very comfortable. The car is quite low and perhaps that contributes to the closed in feeling. In fact next to my daughter's huge Nissan it is like a racing car!

  4. This topic has come up before.  Sounds very like the turbo whine on a diesel car. The consensus was this it is the motors.  On my car (300H) I can only hear the whine when the driver window is lowered and there are hedges on both sides of the road reflecting the sound. Cannot hear anything in the car with windows closed.  It is possible of course that your noise is due to something else and I'm sure the experts on the forum will have an answer.

  5. Has anyone tried the nano magic impregnated cloth for removing scuffs and light scratches ?  Do they actually work ?  I have some light scratches from (country) roadside vegetation and fingernails behind the door handle.  Seems too good to be true.

  6. Paddle shifts are useful for controlling speed on a long downhill without having to on/off brake or worse, sit on the brakes.  Very occasionally might use them to change down before overtaking but otherwise they are of little use (to me).

  7. I'm confused.  I thought a recent string decided that the "small" Battery is charged up by the hybrid Battery which, when necessary, feeds the small Battery with enough power to boot up the system and this in in turn, by starting/running the engine, puts more charge into the hybrid Battery.  Or have I got it all wrong.   My car is 5 1/2 years old and I'm starting to get worried with all the tales of failed start up batteries.  Cars used to be so simple to understand.

  8. When moving from full beam to dip, the headlight stalk does not always spring back correctly.  The full beam blue light is not illuminated and I only become aware when oncoming motorists flash me.  A firm 'on/off ' is needed to properly switch off.  Very occasionally, on starting in the dark ,it is neither a full nor dipped beam - somewhere in between. It must be a poor connection or weak spring. (?)

It's practically impossible to demonstrate at the Dealer because occurs when driving and using a quick, light touch to move the stalk.  And frustratingly, the problem is intermittent ! (Car is 2015 IS300 with 48,000 miles). I wondered if anyone has experienced this and their solution.

  9. For your pattern of driving and annual mileage I would say it is ideal.  Quiet, very comfortable (best ever my wife says) and roomy enough for most trips.  Also don't overlook the warranty, available up to 10 years and 140,000 miles.  Although it costs (currently) £400 annually it does give peace of mind and it covers Europe travel.  Price of car seems a little high. You could possibly do better by hunting around.  But stick to Lexus dealers.
