  1. If you go for an X5, stay away from the Xdrive 30D as its too under-powered IMO for such a BIG car. 30d = 3.0 single turbo diesel 35d = 3.0 twin turbo diesel 40d = 3.0 twin turbo diesel (different map, injectors etc) M50d = 3.0 triple turbo diesel I have just got rid of my 2008 3.0sd (which is the pre-facelift 35d)... it was mapped to 350bhp & 700NM !!! PROs Looks great, plush interior, road presence, surprisingly fast CONs Too big for alot of car parks, heavy - so poor mpg, DPF issues, mega expensive runflat tyres (rears were 325/35/r20 @ £600 for a pair!) Just my 2peneth tho.. for a buyers guide take a look at www.xdrivers.co.uk goose
  2. Do you know what make it is? You can normally find a .pdf of the fitting instructions somewhere... I had a TravAll dog guard in my previous X5 and it was a nightmare to get in and out. I haven't bothered with the RX as the gap between the headrests and roof is quite a lot smaller and I'm not sure my 45kg ridgeback will fit through it :) goose
  3. No noticeable performance increase.. and just the tiniest smidge of more V6 noise. It may just be me and my personal preference.. but I've done filters and exhausts in almost every car I've owned for the last 20+ years. Though admittedly this is my first Hybrid! goose
  4. I also bought some clear covers to replace the red covers on the 2x front door puddle lights... they are much better! goose
  5. I bought this kit.. all v.easy to swap over except the vanity mirror which was a PITA! http://www.ebay.com/itm/15x-White-LED-lights-interior-package-kit-for-2003-2009-Lexus-RX-LR2W-/371098836636?fits=Year%3A2008|Make%3ALexus|Model%3ARX400h|Submodel%3ABase|Engine+-+Liter_Display%3A3.3L&hash=item566736de9c:g:4NgAAOSwd0BVvAis&vxp=mtr goose
  6. Hi All - has anyone on here done this job? http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-2nd-gen-2004-2009/592148-replaced-my-amber-led-foot-well-with-bright-white-leds.html I've swapped all other bulbs to white LED.. and the dull orange glow on my shoes at night is now annoying me!! Cheers, goose
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R62cw--wl1E He makes it look so easy! goose
  8. Thanks. I think the website means that the RX400h comes with a range of wheel options ranging from a 17x6.5 – 22x8.5... mine has the boggo 235/55R18s. Now to decide if I should refurb or replace with RX450h alloys!!! :) Cheers, goose
  9. Couldn't find the info I needed on that site... but this one was a great help! http://autotk.com/wheels/lexus/rx-400h/#2007 Cheers goose
  10. Thanks all - that's great! Good to know that my slight cracking is "normal" and doesn't need replacing as yet... so I can carry on tinkering with other things :) Cheers, goose
  11. £700 - ouch! Was that for whole new wishbones, with bushes pre-fitted, both sides.. and did they also do the ball joints at the same time?!? Seems quite high... Parts should come in circa £150/200, so I guess the rest is labour + VAT. Think I'll keep an eye on this, and think about doing it myself in the Summer. Cheers, Goose
  12. Hi all, So whilst fitting my new front MTEC drilled and grooved disks and Brembo pads yesterday I noticed my front lower control arm bushes were pretty perished. I know the car is 8 yrs old.. but with only 49k on the clock i was a tad disappointed to see them in that state.. they looked like this (not my pic):- So I guess now that this will be my next fix instead of tinkering with the fun stuff :-/ Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks, goose
  13. Hi all - does anyone know if the 19" gunmetal 10 spoke alloys off the RX450h will bolt straight onto an RX400h?!? Bolt pattern appears to be the same (5 x 114.3), but am unsure about hub bore and offset... Thanks very much - and apologies for the "noob" question! goose
  14. Hi all, New Berkshire based owner here.. I picked up a 2008 low mileage (49k) 400h a few weeks ago, and am slowing adjusting to it and its reactions from people! Looking forward to getting some good ideas and info from you all.. as well as contributing as best I can :) I have already:- Swapped out the 90s style wiper blades for retrofit aero style blades. Changed all the interior/number plate/sidelight yellow bulbs for white LEDs. Replaced the paper air filter with a K&N drop in. Fitted the Lexus plastic rear bumper protector. Given it a good machine polish and buff (albeit there's still more to be done, as its spent 8 years street parked in London!!) Next to be done is the front brakes (MTEC disks/Brembo pads).. and a wheel refurb/colour change (do 19" RX 450h alloys fit the 400h?!?) Anyhoo. enough about me.. and howdy! goose
