  1. Just had the Mot done on my 57 reg RX400, got advisories regarding corrosion on the front and rear subframes. I asked the mechanic afterwards about options to which his comment was that the type of corrosion suggests it is a seaside car, I.e. corrosion being from the inside rather than surface rust. as it happens the previous owner did live by the coast, so seems that he has a point. with it likely to be that it will only get worse do I get rid before the next mot or have you had similar advisories but it is still lasted a few more years. what would you do?
  2. I would agree, no point worrying if it is not causing a problem and the car always starts without problem. As you say it could be an expensive fix for no benefit given the age/value of the car anyway. Will be keeping up with the basic servicing/consumables etc but leave the expensive repairs unless I have no choice.
  3. Thanks all for the suggestions, however I’m not sure whether this would answer why it is only at speed on the motorway that the errors flash up. Surely if it is the battery or tyres (approx 40% worn) or alignment, then the problem would appear at other times.
  4. I would but don’t have access to techstream. How do you guys do this without having to go to the dealer?
  5. Thanks for the suggestion Michael, to be honest I haven’t checked the tyre pressures for a while but they are all still at the right pressures so that is not the problem for me.
  6. Sorry if already covered before, just looking for advice with the check VSC and AWD warnings which have started occurring intermittently but only whilst driving on the motorway. The warnings have occurred each time I have driven on the motorway, approx once a week for the past month, but the warnings only stay on for around 5 minutes and then disappear until the next time driving at speed. No issues at all when in normal town driving. Also when the warnings do appear I cannot feel anything suggesting loss of power to any of the wheels or the ABS kicking in suggesting the ABS sensor? I know that the auxiliary battery is often suggested as the cause, but I have no issues starting, also with this occurring when the battery would be charging with driving I do not think this is the cause, unless you think otherwise. any ideas??
  7. Sorted but not what I expected. Turns out that air had got into the brake system. Dealer bled the brakes and reset all error codes and now all back to normal.
  8. I don’t so probably should get one sorted. But I’ve taken the plunge and booked into the local dealer so that they can run it through Techstream. Hoping that it confirms nothing major, but will see.
  9. Thanks Michael, however I probably should have said that I tried restarting a few times, and also went for a short drive (2 miles max) but still have the same issue.
  10. Help/Advice needed. Just changed the brake caliper clips on all 4 wheels, all appeared to go well, and didn’t think anything had gone wrong. But when starting the car just afterwards, as soon as in start mode I’m getting the dreaded Check VSC error, and also have the ABS warning and brake warning light on. Had nothing prior to doing the caliper work, so must have done something to cause this. Any ideas? Is this a going to be a quick and cheap fix? thoughts?
