  1. Whispers  so he doesnt get stonned by the purists

I am so far missing both rear boxes and the first box. I didnt want to loose the front  one but i had a replacement  y section made from stainless so it just went

Ita a little boomy at 60 towing the caravan  but has a nice burble while pottering about.

I also had a valve  put in before the boxes opened via remote control keyfob  and that was fun till i broke it. The valve thing not the ls

  2. well bugger me i have just found out what it is, i just popped upto the shop and drove back with the rear windows

down for no reason, well i was listening to the noise, cus windows open is when i can hear it, and  thinking grrrrr

so while parking the noise starts, the first time ever not moving and i realise its just something on the exhaust rubbing or resonating somehow,  so i have 50 percent found it, bloody weird noise tho to sound more like chirping/dragging brake squeak kinda deal

  3. As much as i love to hit the air con i do from time to time open a window, well mainly cus i am down to 2 silencers on the exhaust now and it sounds nice, so anyhoo i noticed a noise the other day

when i accelerate more briskly than usual i get a noise, best described the same as a brake disc squeak, now i thought it was a brake but tapping the pedal doesn't stop it, nor wiggling the steering left to right, so seems to do it when i accelerate, i am now starting to think water pump or belt tensioner, something like that?

The upper red section is tail light only on mine and the bottom section brake light only, is the bottom section bulb a single or twin filament on yours?

    Its a twin filament

The bulbs are all the same type in that combination lens the reason for the third wire is one of the wires goes to the lamp fail ecu that is located in the boot just inside the left hand boot hinge if you pull the flap to one side you will see a green module that is wired in series from the lamps in the combination lens and when the bulbs fail(whichever) it sends the signal to the lamp on the handbrake icon.

I get ya. I think maybe someone stuck a stop tail bulb cus thats all they had

I will pop a stock bulb in in confidence its all ok.  Cheers for the help folks

  5. got in the motor the other day to find the handbrake warning light stuck on, a quick check revealed the rear brake light was out,

well i was expecting a thing on the dash, but i assume thats the reason for the handbrake light, so i remove it to check the bulb,

now here is the thing i am not sure about,  there are 3 wires coming from the bulb, its a stop and tail light but only the brake light seems wired in,

in the pic above the indicator is side lamp only and below the indicator is the brake light only, is this normal or some one been messing in mine???

I was advised on a thread a few years back, as were a few others, to use this firm, which I did with good results.....no more water in boot.

I'm not saying the silicone method won't work, but why bother, when a new seal is cheap and quick to fit, with no mess.

If you try the silicone, and it doesn't work, you'll have to clean it all off, a right pain of a job.

If you type boot seal in the search box, and search the LS forum, you'll see a couple of threads on the subject.

no thats cool, i may of erm tried the silicon method, i am used to the silly prices bmw charge for anything, if i had known i would of just ordered a new seal, so yeh, i shal  be ordering one and scraping the silicon "someone" left behind :whistling1:
