  1. Hi James, had same idea as you, saw an 09 gs300 near me, Mesa red cream leather, 50k immaculate for just under 6k. Bloody went before could see it. Only thing put me off at time was £500+ved and probably big insurance bill.

Now I’ve had a taste of Lexus will be getting another. Don’t know if it will be an is250, a gs non hybrid maybe an Rx. Decisions eh.

May even break bank and get a later plate car. Just like the old ones interior wise over the more modern say 3gen models. Roll on June 2020 when have to bite the bullet and find a Lexus in whatever form it takes.

Not ruling out a hybrid Just don’t want extra bills on top of looking after an older car but to be fair my is has only cost me tyres, battery, services, mot, so not ruling out an older model plus this forum great for info

  2. Maybe we should start a national countdown to see how many is220d’s are being scrapped lol. Mine an 07 plate getting rid before next mot due next July. Like yourself enjoyed the is as a car but fed up with mine too esp the vsc eml lightshow, otherwise car runs great no oil, coolant loss. Been a comfortable 3yrs in it but time to move on to newer Lexus for me before bills mount up.

£463 seems low but I got offered £125 for mine from ac. Bloody tyres and Battery worth more than the car lol

  3. Had my is220d for three years now. Always have this coming up intermittently. After three restarts go away and they come back either weeks or days later.

Never been in limp mode at all, just lived with it mate plugged in obd reader got p2002 code. Dpf below threshold, put it down to urban driving as only do 20 miles a day.

Lights on all the time now, went to ats for engine diagnostics and had the following codes come up c1201 c1241 p1426 p2002. They seem to think caused by low Battery, during last service said Battery at 50% so probably this, also dpf sensor.

Anyone had any similar codes and did you find a fix?

  4. Your car is gorgeous, keep us updated how you’re getting on. Love the old Lexuses. Are you leaving the bow on the roof to say how special the car is lol.

looks really well looked after and very tidy interior. You must be chuffed with it.

  5. Working nights this week in the glorious heat. Driving to work noticed my drivers side hid bulb off. Cue thinking bulb had gone, or dodgy ballast, expecting another ££££ bill.

Drove home in the morning and when got home turned lights from auto to on via stalk and both lights worked.

Could it be possible for the heat to have affected the lights? Daft question but I don’t put anything past this car. Car on north facing drive so got the sun for most of the day 40deg plus on the drive in the sun. Especially drivers side.

  6. Go for the gs, sod ikea trips lol that’s what home delivery is for. Your Lexus too good to carry flat pack. Carry you and the missus in style and laugh at the minions trying to fit a wardrobe into their fiesta. Yes I have seen this attempted at IKEA.

  7. Chemical smell may be because you have fitted a new dpf filter. Had similar when had new backbox fitted. Just needs a couple of days to burn off any oils. Takes a few days of hard driving then you won’t notice any smell fingas x.

Best thing to do at the moment is try to make a few journeys on the motorway to get everything up to temp and make the dpf do its job. Hopefully the warning lights should go out after 3 maybe 4 restarts.

my is220d does this, flashing up the eml  trc vsc lights every so often. Learned to live with it as getting rid before mot expires next year.

You can either put up with it or like me get rid because a diesel no good for the mileage you and I do. Love the is but next Lexus for me a petrol or hybrid

  8. Just had my is220d pass the mot, no advisories. Got a printout of the smoke test. The plate limit is 3.00m-1. My is passed with the mean result reading 0.36m-1.

Dont know if that means anything to anyone but may put some at ease if worried about the new stringent emmisions for diesels in the mot.

I only do low mileage too mainly urban driving

  9. There is a company called powerflow, based in Newport if any use to you. Just google it. Myself and others have used them to sort exhausts for our cars. Got a back box complete with fitting for £200approx. May be able to sort out what you want because they make custom parts for your car. Save u ££££ over dealers. They are a national chain, would recommend.

never had any problems with mine

  10. mk-lon, if any use to you there is a national company called powerflow who custom make exhausts for is. Had mine done by them also advised another member to use them. I don’t work for them or anything but they have a branch in Mitcham Greater London if any use for you. My is220d new backbox was about £200 with fitting all custom made, the other member was quoted about £225 because a quad exhaust on his is250. His centre was in sittingbourne.

Just google power flow if you need any more info, made up with mine and probably saved £££££ over Lexus main dealer.

  11. Hi ziggy how is your gs? Lovely car you have. Have you had a hybrid health check done? Just wondering as looking at a gs for next car but put off bit about buying a hybrid with old batteries if that makes sense. Don’t want to buy a newer car with new problems to encounter lol

  12. To mk_lon, get it looked at ASAP. I ignored my shaking tailpipe and lo and behold my car parted company with its back box pulling the bumper away at speed. Not nice experience. Cost me couple hundred quid to sort but annoying because an Indy probably could have welded it.

Most quick fit places don’t stock Lexus exhausts. Dealer only parts. So looks like Indy weld job or custom made parts if you don’t want to line lexus dealer pocket with your hard earned £££££.

funnily enough your car same age as mine, others had issues on the forum with is,gs exhausts with cars our age too. Please don’t ignore it.
