  1. I live in Newcastle. When they moved from Benton Road (which was very good) I called Silverlink about a used car (I had a CT at the time and wanted an IS), and when they answered they said Ason Martin. I said I am after Lexus and they said they were busy and could I call back. I didnt. Second time I called about a different enquiry I got a similar response and decided they wouldnt get a third chance, so tried Teesside and had a totally different experience. So I bought the car from them together with extra warranty and service plan and then they changed to Stoneacre. Silverlink would be much closer but I will stick with Teesside until the service plan and paid warranty runs out next year.

When I say independant, I mean a main dealer not owned by an organisation like Stoneacre. We purchased a new Suzuki for my wife and she is having the same experience, telling her she needed an air conditioning disinfectant bomb on top of her first service. She declined then was hassled to purchase something else. All we want to do is call the garage and book the car in. I will be making this clear when I visit the garage in January. Also getting charged insurance on the loan car which I didnt in the past. They should include this in the service plan.

  2. I bought my car from Lexus Teesside before they merged into the Stoneacre group.

Now I have to speak with staff at a contact centre who havent got a clue about my car, as well as being more concerned about upselling me something I dont want or need.

I still have a year left of my used car warranty left and would like to know if there are any independant Lexus dealerships?

The black wheels make your car look so different to the original look, a more modern look .. assume your happy with them...who did you use for the job... What's the process for the trim de-chrome? (Remove and wrap or done Insitu?)

Are you running cross climates on the IS,how do you find them?

One small point and cheap to sort...(common with Lexus/Toyota ) now you've had the wheels done it shows the rusty looking locking wheel nut on each wheel....cheap to sort, just over 20.00 for a new set and will make it look so much better (unless you see past them)

    Link to new set here....

The locking wheel nuts are on my list of to do's. I am going to take them off and paint them black. I was looking for some plastic covers for them as I have for the wheel nuts but am struggling to get the right size.

Cross climates are always my preferred choice of tyres. No complaints.

I used the Wheel Specialist in Newcastle for the wheels. They arent the cheapest, but having used them before, I really like the finish, and they are only about 2 miles from my hose, so can drop the car and walk home.

The trim was mentioned by the guy who did my windows. He wraps the trim. I am not so sure though as I like the chrome grill.

  4. Got my 7 year service done at Lexus Teeside yesterday together with discs and pads all round (ouch!)

The brakes were absolutely shot after 57k miles and although the pads were renewed before I bought it 5000 miles ago, they really should have done the lot.

If I braked from speed they made a terrible noise and pulsed when slowing down right to a standstill. Absolutely fine now, which they should be.

Got a UX 300e loan car which I was impressed with. Top spec and very comfortable, although i think range would be an issue for me, and the fact I havent got £50k lying around to buy one.

  5. Just recently I am getting pulsing through the pedal when braking, feels like it could be a warped disc.

Only done around 3k since I bought it, Lexus approved. I noticed they had fitted new pads when I bought it but the discs were old.

Anyone else had this? 2015 model.

Its not pulling to one side or anything, just not smooth braking.

Nice result. Did you correct the paint work or just use polish before the ceramic coat?

I used Chemical Guys wipe out surface cleansing spray to clean the paint after I used the machine polish which was Meguires 205. Then I applied the ceramic coat.

Raining this morning and the water is running off nicely.

I already corrected it when I bought it as the dealer had done a terrible job as there were holograms and trails all over it.

Just needed a polish this time.

Polished then used a polish remover before the ceramic. I did my wifes new car straight from the garage with the same stuff and it is realy good, water just sheets off.

when  you look at metalised tints when nyou move your head you'll see colours appearing

you can get just plain black tints they are measured in %

remember a 5% tint is darker than a 15% tint as the % refers to how much light can pass through

    the tint film.

on a previous car i had a 5% tint and at night i found it difficult to see out so beware once its

fitted its not coming off so make sure you make the right choice when you buy.

I just saw the metallised quote on one of the places that does it. Definately just want black, nothing fancy.

Out of interest, what is the percentage on standard fit?
