Yeah a lot of investigation for only needing to switch around two wires in the end! At least future forum members can turn the job around in 30-60mins easily now instead. Switching the wires on the part took 10 mins, fitting to the vehicle only takes 20mins. Easy to follow guide with photos to follow at some point...

Interesting read, I manage to read this so after all this you saying only need to swap the 2 wires as per pics so would that solve the mirror folding whilst driving off ? I want to get this modification but don't really want the mirrors to fold in while driving lol, not really fussed about pressing the switch twice for mirrors to fold in itself, I do apologise if already explained somewhere on this post, thanks !

Interesting, key question is will Tiger Woods buy/drive  another? 🤔 Actually , looking at the SUV, very Lexus front end and Porsche styling cues for the back. Reminds me of the two headed llama in the Dr Doolittle film😂

Lol, the GV80 doesn't look bad even though to me is another suv with styling cues taken from other cars and of course the badge seems to be inspired from I'm not going to state the obvious pmsl

It may well turnout to be interesting car brand, especially the part that they make RWD cars by default, so no FWD luxury wanabe trash.

When they finally release coupe it may be something I will consider, especially considering Hyundai has build a reputation by now and at very least ar not worse than german cars in terms of reliability. Sure they are nowhere near Lexus, but they at least don't fudge their car with sluggish hybrids drives of FWD.

The previous Hyundai genesis sold in UK was really nice motor and looked well built I've seen about 2/3 in UK and 2 elsewhere in Europe close up but sadly in Europe, the use of non luxury branding and a price tag of about 50k GBP makes it very rare, I would like to see a coupe - which we didn't get previously but appeared to be sold in Europe originally. Be interesting to see a coupe and even seeing the G70 in person - Lexus don't make me jump ships !!!!

They are pretty easy to change, 30s for both (no screws/bolts, just plastic clips holdings them). Prob these ones were offered for F-Sport spec only (but not sure)

Did see few on eBay and some don't post to UK, grrrrr and ones that do are either the plastic ones or red stitching, further investigating these are standard on the higher spec IS in the UK.

Can you not use a self tapping screw? I'm quite surprised that the 'grommet' part has worn as it's basically not a moving part. Perhaps a previous owner has stripped it's thread.

Yeah it seems the grommet part has worn by sounds of it, I know that panel on that side been resprayed previously and bit of it wasn't too great a job and that stone guard on bottom just above the sills next to the rear door was just masked over rather than removing it 🙄🙄 and recently I got all that redone so the rear cluster lights been off at least few times

i had something similar the other week on the drivers door panel

everytime i closed the door i could feel the panel move slightly

i found the thread had stripped so i tapped it M6 and used a different

    bolt instead.

I can't say I see those light clusters moving when I shut the boot lid but those grommets are easy to access anyway as I found out.

Take a piece of copper wire, the earth off 1.5 mm twin and earth and bend it double, then slide it into the hole so the tails are sitting on the rim of the plastic insert. Then try the screws again. Or screw the thread onto a ball point pen spring and screw the lot back in. The spring will form a helicoil.

Ok I can try that I suppose but looking this afternoon, those grommet are easy to access by removing the boot trim and you can see them so hopefully without too much force they'll come out so I try that first but need to buy some new ones which isn't hard or too expensive.

  5. Hey all,

As I removed the rear lights to change to LED indicators (hyper flashed even though they said it wouldn't so sent them back), found a slight issue when fitting the rear cluster back on one side (haven't tried the other side) the bolts doesn't seem to tighten so I think it must be the 'grommet' part no. 90189-06235 that seems to be worm and needs changing - circled and that arrow in red on the pictures those pics show the near side part of the car.

Anyone know how to remove them ? I haven't yet tried to see if they come out that easily, I can get new ones easily just not sure if there is a way to remove them.

For a bit sound improvement you can go for custom rear mufflers, you could choose the loudness and other sound parameters.

I’ve got these leather pieces on EBay for £70 including shipping and tax (from USA), they were described as “Lexus IS250 2014 front center console leather trim”. There were two different types: with white or red threads (red probably for f-sport trim or just for red interior)

Thanks, did do a search on eBay that came with few different ones, where they easy to change ? Can't say I notice these on UK spec ones then again I only got the Executive spec

Thanks mate. The 300h isn’t so bad, fuel economy is much better in your car 🙂

Invidia Q300h is compatible with 200t/250/350 but I’ve seen some garage offering custom steinless steel exhaust built for about £500 (my Invidia rear mufflers were £620 including tax and fees, Invidia midpipe is £590).

Center console leather trim you can see below (these pieces were plastic in my car):

Thanks, I prob got for custom exhaust I don't want anything loud just a bit sound to it without going OTT ! And yeah the 300h isn't bad on fuel, much better than my old IS250, I defo want to change to leather on the centre console now you pointed it out, wonder if they come standard on any IS in the UK.......

Looks smart mate, some days I wish I waited bit longer to get a 200t spec but very rare ! How much did the exhaust set up back ? (not even sure if it's compatible with the 300h - I have changed the rear diffuser to a IS250 one and custom exhaust tips but want to get exhaust later the year) and what is the front centre console leather trim ? If it's the arm rest that's already leather ?? Thanks!!

  9. Hi all,

Has anyone experienced any issues with front centre Arm rest like peeling / cracking leather ? I am a member of a USA Lexus group on facebook mainly US members and been few posts where the Centre armrest is cracked / ripped and recent post, that's shocking for a car that was released in late 2013 onwards !! I myself haven't got this issue nor have I ever heard of any UK / Euro owners having this issue that's why I'm asking here so these pics aren't mine they are from US owners 3IS .... and I do condition the leather seats and armrests etc.....

Well I've just read that Autocar article and it blew me away. Personally I'm gobsmacked by the decision but what do I know. Mind you if money wasn't an issue the new Lexus cars I'd buy aren't affected. But I bet there's a good few who are disappointed.

For my next car I would of liked to check out the new IS in few years time or even a RC coupe but I always liked the GT86 even the current one I always liked since it came out in 2012 so I guess I most likely consider the new 86 (even though I don't even know what it looks like yet) that's been confirmed along with the BRZ  - just hope Toyota (and Subaru) won't be stupid and say they are concentrating on suv's or hybrid instead and not bring the new GT86 here and yeah I agree if money was not issue those cars like the LC / LS aren't affected

Agree with all you say Rus.

It seems to me that currently the new Toyota Corolla Hybrid is the one to go for. Even the gentlemen of the Press seem to warm to it.

I like the new Corolla's much better looking than alot of the competitors glad Toyota didn't do what Nissan did by offering mostly SUV's ! Now all Toyota need is a Corolla GRMN !

  12. But still sad non the less,

    https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/lexus-ceases-uk-imports-ct-and-rc

That means even less to choose from now, still think they made a big mistake by not bringing the 'refreshed' IS here even though the reasons is the ES was outselling the IS.

Was actually thinking of a RC coupe seems like even if there is a new one, we may not get it !!! Toyota better bring the new 86 coupe here and not follow the same route as Nissan by not bringing the '400z' !!!

Thanks, well the spoiler is holding up well, sanding it underneath is something I should of checked or thought about before ! What a nightmare that was !! Car looking good mate, I also tinted the front fog lights and daylight running lights in some smoke tint film, left the head lights though

The IS and CT have already been removed from Lexus Ireland (not sure about the RC).

To be honest, I went in in July to replace my NX with an IS and came away with an ES; once finance calculations come in, they are clearly trying to promote the latter so if anything they emerge cheaper (new, anyway).

It's anyone's guess what the future holds. I'm not sure anyone really saw the emergence of SUVs (electric vehicles were maybe a little more predictable); ten years from now we'll be all autonomous driving and perhaps even a different more temporary style of leasing. Lexus' objective in the UK and Ireland, as ever, will be to be niche rather than mass sales no doubt.

CT sells very well in UK and Europe more so than USA hence why they dropped it few years ago out there, I think if they replaced the CT then UK and Europe will get it for sure - there had been rumours of a all new CT from few sources in recent years some say it may be all electric or atleast a option of one. Shame the new (facelift) IS isn't coming to UK/Europe.

Interestingly (according to C&D & maybe other sources) the next gen Mazda 6 will switch to RWD and option of straight 6, now I always liked the look of the Mazda 6 even the current one and if the latter is true, RWD and straight 6 - Hello Mazda bye bye Lexus ! https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a32109038/mazda-6-rwd-confirmed-2022/

I did remember last year some where that also mentioned this but they also mentioned the next RC is to also share platforms and engines with the Mazda 6 (which is not even mentioned on that C&D article)  - question is would Mazda UK give us option of a straight 6 or would be only be offered the lesser performance ones or would Mazda deny us the next gen 6 all together !! I do like the ES I think it's a lovely car but I do think we need atleast another choice of engine too.

I use to have same type as this on my old IS200 years ago but was not on the roof was on boot but they also fit perfect on the roof too, the roof spoiler I got now is slightly bigger than the one above and abs plastic and not quite as flexible as the one you got and couldn't find any for the 2014-2020 IS300h at the time otherwise I prob would of. Is all sorted now anyway had to re-do it by removing all the tigr seal residue off the top part of windscreen and sand down the underneath of the roof spoiler which I suppose I should of in first place and now is stuck on good and proper ! Happy day ! Oh well lesson learnt !!

Small touches look good, does the dark colour affect the output ? Also had bit of issue with the roof spoiler hopefully all sorted now (It f.....ng wants to be !! lol), 3m tape first of all from advice of someone that did same and no issues even after few years, within a month one side came apart !!! so tiger seal it, again came apart as the tiger seal lifted the paint right off the underneath of roof spoiler (very cleanly must I add) so I sanded it right down and re-applied !! I guessing you didn't paint under it and I specified a painted spoiler and underside was painted too !!!!

  17. Has anyone else bought these from eBay or even any other sites for their Lexus's ? and had any issues with them coming apart ? From research on either Facebook lexus groups and even us club lexus and one owner from here, some used 3m tape to stick them without any issues so that's what I did at first (wish I didn't now) then a month later one side came apart so plan B tiger seal which some people used for exact same reason I had - coming lose from use of 3m tape ! Now nearly a month l had this one side came lose (again) this time where the underneath of the roof spoiler was painted (I specified a painted one when ordering) the tiger seal seemed to have lifted the paint away from the spoiler clean so I sanded underneath of it right down and then cleaned and re-applied tiger seal and now it seems well stuck together !! No idea why the underneath of the roof spoiler was well painted in first place !! Hopefully no reason to come apart now so moral of the story don't use 3m or any other tape and when using tiger seal or any other sealant make sure underneath the spoiler is not painted !!

  18. I think it's a mistake for Lexus not bringing the IS here, the ES is nice but the engine choice is too limited with only a 2.5 hybrid sure is good for what it is but what if I want something bit more power or a V6 ? Like when the GS was offered with a 3.5 hybrid even though not many were sold compared to the GS300h. I wonder if there be a next gen RC coupe or if Lexus meant is being dropped because there not replacing it or simply (like the new IS) we also miss out on a new one !! Shame as I did consider (still am) a coupe as next car - well hello Toyota GT86 which a mk2 is confirmed along with the Subaru one - unless of course Toyota/Subaru make a bad decision of not bringing the next gen GT86/BRZ here !! As for the CT, this model is quite old compared to all other Lexus's so I guess that's not being replaced ? Why update or replace something and not bring to UK/Europe ? As the CT sells very well here.

  19. 3 hours ago, wharfhouse said:

If the IS isn't viable makes you wonder why UK/Europe will bother with RC / LC / LS or anything else that isn't SUV or a token saloon (ES). The ES holds no interest for me whatsoever but I would have been looking to replace my existing IS 300h with the next generation IS (not a facelift which this one is) which I had assumed would probably be 2022. The IS size (being in the same category as BMW 3 series) was spot on for me - so now nowhere for a BMW 3 series driver to migrate into Lexus (like when I came to the IS from my 3 series). A real shame. I am sure they have their business reasons but are turning their back on a lot of customers.

My thoughts exactly - it be real shame if Lexus did become a suv only brand in Europe - I for one don't want to resort to a 3 series or a C-class and Infiniti has folded in Europe so that's not an option, the ES is nice IMO but very limited engine selection to choose from, still this new 2021 IS is a facelift/refresh not a mk4 IS so maybe just maybe they bring the 'all new' mk4 IS to Europe if Toyota/Lexus don't kill it off in few years time. Also I thought the original mk1 IS was designed with Europe in mind for Europe to compete with BMW and was not even offered in the US till 2001 !! Since the mk2 IS they seemed to forgotten this and concentrated to appeal to the US market...

  20. I just wonder where that leave the Lexus RC Coupe if they carry on in it's current form or bring out a new one ? Since that is basically a coupe version of the IS, supposing a new RC happens if it does wonder if Lexus UK / Europe decide to take it or not...if not then bye bye Lexus, next gen GT86 it is ! Still no mention of a IS500 people kept on talking about
