I was in for my first full service in Dec2023 and nobody told me or offered me such plates...was not aware.... but  Lexus must have been.. full service £660.

I first saw the issue mentioned on here around July last year and contacted Lexus myself when I saw they had developed the security plates.

I then arranged for them to deliver the plates to my dealer for its first service, Lexus contacted my dealer to let them know.

    Hi All,

Sadly my  2021 Lexus 450h Tacuma was stolen last night. We have video. The thieves got in under the front passenger wheel arch and somehow opened, started and drove of in the vehicle in under 2 minutes.

Be warned - its not just hiding your keys. Recently fully serviced and valeted --- what can I say ---- I hope it does not happen to you.

I strongly urge you to get a tracker - ( Lexus Link is NOT a tracker - we registered )

    All owners beware .

Please please let other Lexus owners know.

Lexus garages are aware - and why they do not fight back and urge Cutoemrs to fit trackers or fix the SECUIRTY FLAW makes me wonder....

What Lexus are going to do.....sympathy.....

Ah well. The most reliable car in the world just got KO'd

Had you not arranged with your dealer to get the security plates fitted that Lexus have developed to protect this Canbus system behind the left headlight?

Quite a few owners have already had this fitted..I got mine done beginning of September when in for its first service.. and that is living up the North East where this doesn't seem a problem... yet.

I have several of the issues mentioned in this thread as my LC has very long doors and I can't get out in a "normal" parking space next to other cars. I also drive round looking for a wider space or one where someone cannot block my driver's door. This is a problem with all the 2 door coupes that I have owned (Aston DB9, Merc CL500 etc.)

I saw one interesting comment in another forum about reserved wide spaces in car parks to the effect that they do not need to be near the doors of the supermarket etc. as, once you have got your wheelchair or pushchair out of the car and loaded your passenger up, you are then fully ambulant and can travel a bit further to the shops. It also said that only people with physical disabilities requiring wheelchair use should be allowed to use Blue Badge spaces and not the "not all disabilities are visible" brigade.

So .. are they saying that people like my mother shouldn't be allowed to use her Blue Badge to park in the disabled spaces just because she doesn't like using a wheelchair but prefers her walking frame (that has an inbuilt seat for when needs to rest)? Not all disabled people that have difficulty walking uses wheelchairs.

  4. I know that you should check and inflate your tyres when cold but at what sort of outside temperature?

I checked mine in October and set them at 2.4 bar as the sensors seem to show warning if at 2.3 bar but now we have outside temperatures around 0C the tyre warning is showing when setting off with pressure at 2.3 bar.

We are going to see our son & grandson in Manchester over Xmas period because we haven’t see them for so long but as they have a full house because they foster children we have had to book a hotel (Village Hotel)but we find after booking that there is a car park charge of £5 per day anything to get more money what a ripoff .

    Dell

You should have joined their membership club... I was already a member when I last booked the Village Hotel in Cheadle and was informed when I checked in that the parking was free to members.

I would not have an EV anyway. The confrontations in the supermarket car park at charging stations put me off. Insurance bad news. Lack of spares, emerging new battery technologies mean your old one is worthless, second hand values, risks of setting your house on fire and so on...  Finally no character.

Thank goodness we have Lexus and not Land Rovers, I feel sorry for the owners of these.

The 2022 RX450h Takumi has a lot but it doesn't have:

    • Adaptive Variable Suspension

I have one and unfortunately that wasn't an option for some reason.

    It does have:

    • Rear door sunshades
    • Illuminated scuff plates

    It also has

    • Rear cross traffic alert

The Premium Sport also has the Rear cross traffic alert ... as I found out shortly after getting it when it slammed on the brakes as I was reversing out of a parking space and another car was travelling slowly along the aisle to pull into the space I was reversing out of. 🤔

    There are a few differences:

    • Bladescan adaptive headlights
    • Adaptive Variable Suspension
    • 15 speaker Mark Levinson audio system
    • 360-degree monitor
    • Key card
    • Higher quality semi-aniline leather upholstery
    • 10-way front seat adjustment which includes 4-way lumbar (8-way on other models) with memory settings
    • Wooden steering wheel
    • Power rear seats
    • Rear door sunshades?
    • Illuminated scuff plates?

Thanks Colin.. the Premium Sport also has the partial wooden steering wheel but not the rest of the list.

I agree, if Lexus isn’t listening - collective action is necessary.

Lexus claims to be a company that takes care of its customers and receives high scores on customer surveys… it’s ridiculous to let customers suffer due to their incompetence. There are numerous complaints and instances of theft, yet no resolution has been reached.

Lexus thinks it is okay for their vehicles to be stolen this easily - this is no customer service! It is time for Lexus to take this matter very seriously and stop sweeping it under the rug.

One of my friends is almost through purchasing an RX, should I warn him and probably cancel the sale? I do not wish to see him in trouble.

Just advise him to make sure the seller has fitted the Canbus protection plate.

I had mine fitted at the end of September when it went to my dealer for its first service.

Cream Talbot Solara for me, I remember my brother and I sitting in it as small kids without any form of booster seat or safety devices….

After that a series of Peugeot 405s and 406s.  Consequently, I’ve always been a Japanese fan!!

My 4th car was a Talbot Solara in blue, bit of a change from the Triumph TR7 that came before it.

  11. That's my RX's first service completed yesterday at 3760 miles.

It also had the Canbus Security plate fitted at the same time which brings more peace of mind to it being parked anywhere.

I was supposed to be getting an RZ for a curtesy car for the day but when they went to get it they discovered it had not accepted a full charge overnight and only had 60 miles range left, not good when its 20 miles each way then was going to be using it to deliver a family members birthday card. Makes you wonder if it was the vehicle at fault or the charger on the dealer premises.

Instead they sorted out an NX350h Takumi which was nice, especially the sound system, but just not the same experience as the RX.

Never tried its Auto Park facility on the NX and was a bit infuriated with having to keep turning on the AC when first getting into it (might be a setting to default this) and also having to "agree to terms" each time starting it up on the big screen (this would probably stop for an owner that the car is registered to).

As I have a 3 year service plan there was no extra cost to pay on the day (curtesy cars and their insurance are not charged at this dealer)

I agree but I can't stop passengers from fiddling. They seem to think that turning fully to Hi or Lo will make the system reach a comfortable temperature more quickly.

That was the same for the females that worked in the office of the company I worked at ... all the radiators were fitted with thermostatic valves set at a comfortable temperature... but they always turned either full upper or off .. couldn't understand that the thermostatic valve turned the radiators off when up to temperature or turned them on if the room temperature dropped. When you came in on a morning you always had to reset the valves again to correct setting.

  13. Anyone on here just won the lottery and wondering what to spend it on.

If you want a used car instead of new how about this the Lexus Teesside has at the moment... it says used but a 23 reg with only 1200 miles .. wonder who buys these just for the summer then sells?

I wish i had the money for a second car for weekends 😀

Read the same. I think they have their numbers wrong. Just looked up 2022 operating profits for several insurance companies. Aviva 300ish mil AA churchill LV ALL 50ish mil each. Find it hard to believe they're running at a loss.

It would be interesting if we could look at their published accounts to see if they separate them over the different insurance types to see which, if any, is making a loss and which makes a profit.

I took delivery of my 2023 450h+ PHEV about 3 weeks ago. For a premium price car I have to say I am a little disappointed with the quality over my previous 2021 RX. So far I have achieved an impressive 50mg but this is well short of the promoted 250 mpg, I realise things like air conditioning and regular driving takes a toll on the mpg but I am curious how those figures were achieved. Perhaps more importantly there are little things that seem to have been done just to save on production costs, the sequential turn indicators have disappeared and the expanding door pockets are now no longer, no more a spare wheel or spacesaver, I can no longer listen to my favourite radio station as it just keeps dropping out. No big deal but it’s the little things that set it apart. I was also surprised to find it very difficult to insure, perhaps due to the recent spike in thefts of Lexus cars

I would have thought that the big mpg is achieved when mostly doing short journeys each day within the range of electric only and keeping it in EV only as much as possible then recharging it overnight.

Hello there not to sound like im stupid but i think its obvious but just to double check is there a Auto Hold Feature for the 2013 Lexus RX450h?

I don't want to sound dumb but my previous Mercedes C350e had auto hold and it was sometimes a great feature especially when im stuck in heavy traffic with little to no movement

The Gen 3 you have doesn't have auto hold like the later Gen 4.

What is has is a Hill start aid as mentioned where you press the brake pedal hard and it holds the brakes for up to 30 seconds giving you time to press the throttle without it rolling back on a steep slope.
