I had exactly the same problems with my dealer with me doing all the chasing and as you say a very frustrating process. I will put some photos up shortly after I give it a clean as I picked it up when it was raining, so is just a little mucky.

I have just heard from Lexus Ipswitch (CarWow) that there is price increase coming on the 4th of October, advising to me order early to lock in the current price, but I told them I had just collected mine yesterday from Lexus Maidstone.

Am picking mine up from Lexus Ipswich on Saturday. Sounds like I just managed to avoid the additional road tax as any increase will take it over the £40k mark.

  2. Mine’s coming into the dealers on the 23rd Sept and picking it up Saturday 1st. Could have been a couple of days earlier but the Saturday works best for me.

My LS is now on 199,000 miles so will just miss out on taking it to 200k!

As I have said before experience with the local Lexus dealer has been underwhelming. Levels of communication that make mainstream manufacturers look better. If they were to be judged on presentation e.g. shiny glass showroom and 'sharp' suited salesmen then it would be 10/10. If judging on communication and customer service e.g. returning messages and providing monthly updates then 3/10 would be generous. Can only conclude in other countries Lexus may be run better than in the UK and hold their dealers to higher standards.

I have a feeling that the current delays just don’t work well with the Lexus customer service model. The open order book must be much larger than it normally would be due to wait times. Their personal service just doesn’t scale - more customers to deal with simultaneously who are on average less happy than normal.

As others have commented, their automated tracking facilities are pretty rudimentary and hit and miss compared to some other brands. When queues are short they are just there to complement a more personal service and provide an entry point into the Lexus Link ecosystem. They aren’t really helping to keep the customer informed in a very meaningful way in current times.

What I don’t really get is the lack of response to changing circumstances. My salesman commented that he had to phone over 70 customers with updates. Surely they’d be better to automate a regular update. Granted, it’s less personal but at least it would be more consistently delivered and free them up to deal with individual queries.

However, I’m not buying their customer service, I’m buying their car and I know I’m going to be happy with that when it does arrive, which is ultimately what I’m more interested in.

Still awaiting their reply of my cancellation and refund due to the lies they told me.

Can understand why you have cancelled. At least mine was confirmed as MY22 when I pushed for info a couple of months ago so have reconciled myself to narrowly missing out on the updates.

Mine was almost at 7 months before it went into build and was built 2 weeks later, but at the moment it still appears to be stuck in Japan, despite leaving the factory, waiting for a ship presumably. So yours should not be much longer now.

Are you using the app on your phone or the full online tracker on the Lexus website. I found they very often showed different info at different points of build, ship and arrival, etc

Yeah I ordered mine in December last year and finally seeing good progress. The actual build process doesn’t take too long, it’s getting to the head of the queue that takes time.  Sounds like you’re nearly there kevtoon2905.

  6. Mine went into “Left the Factory” status as well today.

My delivery date has always been quoted as 6th October. Hopefully it’ll be around then. Would be nice if it’s a few days earlier.

  7. Both say Build in Progress at present. They definitely changed something when I asked about the tracking as the app and web site started to reflect the build and shipping locations which weren’t showing before that.

I have just had the email stating that my mine is now complete and has left the factory and is on its way to me

My dealer has been saying that mine has been in build since the 1st July with estimated delivery date of 6th October. The app wasn’t showing any status change so logged a ticket with Lexus Customer Relations. I got a new tracking notification email last week but status was still In Progress and then a notification on Monday that it had entered build. The app sounds like it’s about right given I’m being told mine will be delivered after yours. But I’ve also been told that mine is definitely MY22. I’ll be interested to get my next update!

I forgot about that, a bit disappointing.

I have just had a bit of good news, is that according to my dealer I now have a build date with an estimated arrival to them of the 3rd October.

That’s great, I got good news yesterday too - expected date of 6th October with confirmation it’s a MY22 car. Would have liked to have the MY23 updates, but not too bothered as I want to be in the car as soon as possible.

  10. I just called my dealer for an update. Mine is still a non-covered order, last update was 23rd September, this has now moved to 7th October and I have no faith in that date either.

Re. the MY23 changes they did confirm that the infotainment will be updated, with delete of the touchpad and DVD. They couldn't provide anything firm but said that they have been told that cars being produced from the start of August will be MY23.

I told my dealer that I would raise this with Lexus UK and have just filled in the online form as I couldn't find a phone number. I don't blame the dealer in any way, they are telling me what they know, but it just isn't good enough.

I sympathise with the logistical challenges but have absolutely no tolerance for the abysmal communications and lack of information, especially regarding the MY23 updates. They either don't care, lack the resources to cope, or are intentionally not communicating as a strategy. None of these sit very well with me.

I had a call from the dealer today. I originally ordered my Premium Edition in mid February, when it was quoted as July/August delivery. A call in April put that back to November/December.

Today's call tells me it is currently showing October delivery. When I asked, it was confirmed it would be MY23, and that the change for the model year was the completely updated multimedia system. The dealer also confirmed the price I would be charged was as stated on my original order, and we know from the MY23 Price List already available that the car will still be under the £40k VED barrier, so I'm back to being a happy customer again. I'll be even happier once I see it's entered production. but I suppose I'll have to wait untill at least August to see that.

Am still to hear back from my dealer as to whether mine is MY23. I ordered in December and expected delivery is late September currently. The infotainment change is a big deal and could make or break a sale based on individual preferences - it bemuses me that there is absolutely no announcement publicly about this from Lexus (well not one that I've seen anyway and I'm searching on a daily basis in anticipation). This kind of change isn't an overnight decision, makes me wonder whether it's a response to supply chain issues rather than a considered road map and therefore communications is playing catch-up.

  12. My end of July delivery date has been changed to mid-September and they said that several that were ordered at a similar time to mine (Dec 2021) were moved out to October...

  13. I bought this car a few days ago and am thrilled with it. I've previously had a 1991 LS400 and a 1998 one but have been away from the brand for a long time. I part exchanged a new shape MX5 which I bought new three years ago - a bit of a change in size, space, luxury and drive!!

I wasn't concerned at all about the service history - good main dealer history with an independent garage service in June this year and a full bill of health from Lexus on the hybrid system.

I can't speak highly enough of TH Boler they were a pleasure to deal with and so relaxed about us having a look around and sit in their supercars.

It says a lot about the car that the garage owner had been using it as his personal car while his LS460 was in for work and he chose it over the Bentleys and Rolls Royce that he had on the lot saying it was a much better drive than all of them. He was also impressed with the hybrid drivetrain compared to his 460.

Welcome me back to the Lexus fold!
