Thanks and sorry for all the questions. Would reload go over essence then to help preserve that? I'm thinking of trying that next.

Can't wait to see the other updates as I've not seen any detailing work done on one of these before.

    No problem at all 😁

Yeah it will sit over most things, definitely recommend Reload, I've used almost everything on the market 'quick detailer' wise and I just come back to reload time and time again, and now I wont use anything else, and over time and after each application the surface gets slicker and glossier and if course adds protection.

Morning mate looking good. When you say tickle is that what I say to the Mrs when I say a quick wash and 4 hours later I'm still at it?

As your a professional how do you find the paint? And what did you do to it? I really grew to love mine although silver wasn't my first choice, as the shine that comes off it really amazed me.

Haha that's exactly what I mean, a four+ hour 'quick clean' the wives love it don't they 😂

The paint is typical Japanese, quite thin and soft, but does seem to be much better quality than Honda, Subaru and the like, I'm very much looking forward to booking some time off and dedicating to the car, it does require correction but being silver hides it very well.

I agree, wouldn't have been my first choice in colour, but fully prepared and protected silver paint does look stunning and incredible glossy.

  3. Good evening all

I didn't think it would be this long until I posted again but work and renovating a house mean very little time for the Lex sadly 😫

The car has been filthy and I've hated it, I haven't even had the time to fit all the little bits I've bought for it, apart from the new number plates, I fitted these today.

So I had a spare few hours to tickle the outside and fit my new naughty tinted raised gel number plates 🙈

And my new tinted, raised gel lettering number plates, I have these on every vehicle I have, got them on the van too, really freshens things up, they are naughty, and Mr plod probably wouldn't be too happy if they were bored and wanted something to do, but 🤷‍♂️

I have spoken to the dealer, who kindly ordered a new battery for me to pick up today, he also said if I wasn't happy with the car, is happy to take it back! So, will pop the new one on and hope for the best!

I really hope its just the Battery, it would be such a shame if you lost confidence and gave it back, fingers crossed for you mate.

  5. Sorry to hear of the trouble you are having, I too straight away presumed a Battery issue, I would definitely replace it though just to be sure, do you have a local Halfords in your area, I'm sure you could pick one up, and hopefully someone could give you a lift there/back.

If this isn't the issue I'm at a loss, I hope you get it sorted 😫

  6. Evening all

So the majority of the parts I've been ordering have arrived, the first thing I fitted was the rear boot struts, wow what a difference, I can now lift it up with a single finger, well worth the purchase and I highly recommend it if you haven't done this already.

I thought this was pretty cool, just looking round the car the other day I noticed the protective wrapping from new was still on the nearside rear door's sill kick plate 😳

I'll be mainly fitting the bits at the weekend so plenty of updates then 😬

Mine are making a bit of "noise" as they go all the way-up and then back again on start-up... did in all 3x IS250 mk2's (one from new) I had - it is normal. But one need to be particularly focused on the needles to hear it. I guess Audi needles made no noise, because they were not doing that initial sweep - all the way-up and then down?

When the Audi did it you could very slightly hear them do it but nothing like this Lexus does, I think mine is noisier than others from what I've seen.

Nice thread, very similar looking to my own 🙂

Will be interesting to see your changes, maybe I can pinch some ideas along the way 😄

If you're interested, I have a 100% genuine Lexus Original Navigation Satnav DVD E1G 2018 Western Europe for sale. (PZ445-X03EU-0N Ver.2)

Thank you very much 😊 do you have a progress thread on your car? It would be good to see it and the things you have done 😁

I actually would have had the DVD nav disc off you but I have decided to change the unit itself to a more modern one. Thank you anyway though 👍

You going to continue with the lexus services? Mine had a full history until I had it. It had all the stamps and everything had been changed up to the 80k mark but had only done 31k so it felt like new.

I've just continued to do oil and filter changes myself as for me I just didn't think at this age it needed it

Well I like the idea of keeping up with the Lexus servicing, just so it looks good in the book with all their stamps in, but to be honest I'll just be taking it to my mechanic to look after, what oil do you recommed?

  10. Congratulations on the IS purchase, identical to what I have just bought only black leather, arn't they wonderful cars! I am delighted with mine.

I'm very interested in the system you have bought as I feel the same with mine, the sat nav very much needs an update, as does other areas, how was the installation?

Hi Mike, yep you Got a bargain there. Great trim level the se-l esp the ml stereo very envious the standard one in mine is great though. I have the 220d at the moment. If you're looking at new tyres I recommend the Dunlop sport max rt2. Have them on mine great tyres for the is. Had them nearly two years plenty of tread left and are profiled to protect your alloys.

Another se-l tip, you can set the speedo and rev counter to your personal limits, when reached they turn orange to tell you limit reached v handy feature.

Thank you very much for the tip on the tyres 😊

I've adjusted the speedo and rev counter already 🤣 I saw that on youtube and went straight out and did it on mine 😁

Yeah I'm chuffed at the price, it was initially up for £5900 but they dropped it a couple of days before I bought it, I'd have bought it at £5900 and still called it a bargain.

If it's a creek when you push down on top of the dash about 4 inches behind the middle air vents then there is a fix. I took out the vents and they have a plastic ball that fits into a socket ( rubbish description) . I put some grease on the ball and it stopped. Need to be super careful as you can mark your dash like I did so I need to fix it.

The dash is known to rattle a bit toward the front where the windscreen is and you can push rubber bungs down where it joins the window and that helps.

There is an upgrade they can do with some of the clips to help as well but means dash off. It's best done if you haven't had the airbag recall done as that requires dash off so is then only a cheap job to fit the new clips. If not I wouldn't worry.

That’s great info thank you very much for that! 👌👌

No sorry it doesn't make that noise. That's not a noise I've yet come across I have just had to deal with the normal noises from the dashboard and door cards. Does it make the noise when your driving?

Yes I also have a creek when driving from around the centre dash area.

I don’t think the needle’s move quick enough to make the noise when driving, plus with fans, engine and stereo noise being on I wouldn’t anyway, it’s just on start up when they sweep, not a biggy, just a very mild irritation 🤣
