my nephews got a Polestar ........ .  seems happy enough with it too  ....  was the first I'd heard of it the other month when we saw them ....  I've no idea of the model tho' ....  I expect it's summat a bit esoteric

I am not brave enough to go full electric as yet, certainly in the rural area I am in, and Wiltshire's infrastructure is not that well established!

I think the Polestar is a handsome beast, certainly would me my pick over the ubiquitous Tesla.

I believe the models are just Polestar 1 or Polestar 2, unless I have misheard which is a possibility!

Do let us know when you take delivery and your impressions.  Although, we are Lexus biased, we do appreciate that other cars can appeal for various reasons!

I certainly will.  I had a Mercedes C350e plug-in hybrid before the Lexus, I much prefer the Lexus!

Yes, the C350e was rapid, comfortable and I optioned the Premium Plus pack which added almost everything with a panoramic roof, Burmeister sound and so much more.

I will miss the Lexus, and I had apple CarPlay retro fitted when the dealer was offering an £80 deal.

I've 10 other vehicles which I tinker with in my barn workshop, and appreciate the petrol-head in you for sure.

    All the best,

is this a Chinese Volvo electric beast .....  ever likely to appear from total lockdown in Shanghai and the carnage of total blockage at the ports ?  .  or is it coming from Sweden maybe ?

are you able to discover this ? :whistling:

Being built in the good old U S of A. The model year starts in June or July, and if one were to order one today, it would be close to 12 months; indications are that we are on schedule for an autumn delivery.  Who knows!?

It is a plug-in hybrid, and the 6 year old in me was just drawn to the 455hp!

Have you decided what you will be looking at if jumping ship ?

I ordered a MY23 S60 T8 Ultimate at Christmas when the order books opened on the vehicle; not due until September/October and of course there are options to drop out.  No other irons in the fire at the moment.

    Any updates on this please?

It was a journey! From March until late June to replace the entire hybrid unit at close to £14k 😳 Thank goodness for insurance is all I can say, and the close call to it being a write off at one stage; save for the well known new build shortage.

I will have to hook out the exact dates, but it was about that in the end.

Faultless on return, but I’m now moving marques later this year.
I am not ‘happy’ to move, but with few choices of Lexus dealer near me, I have lost some faith.
Perhaps I will be back, and will continue to enjoy my ES until the autumn.

  6. So......

According to the rather rude presentation and now left without transport, the car ‘must have been sat in standing water’.

The ECU connectors have mud and water in them, the fuse box has evidence of having got rather wet, and the top strut doesn’t look healthy at all.

Err, no. I live on a ridge, it does not flood up there; never has.

I have, like countless other motorists, driven my car through puddles and standing water during the one of the wettest months on record; but have never gone through a Ford or standing body of water; despite the rather rude instance that I have 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Cannot say I’m particularly impressed with what wasn’t even insinuation but insistence that I have left the car in muddy water above the door seals!

Nope, not possible, hasn’t happened and I must say I’m rather unimpressed by the attitude.

Now threats of a £6K gearbox as well

    Part one ends....

Random and unrelated errors are normally associated with a discharged 12v battery, but normally expected at startup rather than once actually driving about.

Is your 12v battery in good health/charge?

Yes, good shout! Alas, in tip top condition with a trickle charger when parked for long periods (as I’ve 9 other steeds to attend to). To make sure I did a drop test, and it passed that.

I will report on the dealer findings, and have been dropping big hints about only accepting an LC500 as a courtesy car 😆; yeah as if!

  8. Driving along, minding my own business, in the tranquillity of my Topaz Brown interior and then bing, bong and radar cruise drops too.  What nonsense is this?!  I have to drive myself?

Flashing triangle? Check engine light? PKSB off?; I had to Google that too.

OK me thinks, best call the dealer; it would have to be a Saturday!

"Sorry, no one in, just us poor Sales guys", came the reply, "I can give you Lexus care's number".  No problem, good response.  3 minutes on the 'phone to them and 25 minutes later a Lexus care man (disguised as an AA patrol) arrived.

Plugged in, cleared codes, scratched head, went for a joy-ride, I mean quality control drive for 10 minutes to see if anything returned, and we are done.

Great, a glitch in the matrix, no adverse weather conditions, and a grumbling transmission temperature sensor code.

OK, drove around, no return, then a few days later:-

    Check Engine

    Hybrid System Malfunction

No sign of the other 2, so some automatic nanite technology at play, best call the dealer; and it was 1710hrs so I am really pushing my luck!  However, at 1801hrs I have a call and an appointment to see what is what.

Of course, the messages have now all gone, all by themselves, but we shall see what is stored.

Symptoms?  Other than all the steering wheel toys of radar cruise and even volume taken away with the PKSB error, nothing except a noticeable vibration when in Park.

Lexus Care?  Well, sounded like I had woken them up from their shift, had to rummage about for a pen when a report of a potentially broken one was reported! 😉

Anyone else had similar? 18 months old, and sadly only 16k on the clock for rather obvious reasons!

  9. My previous car, a hybrid Mercedes, had a reversing camera; my first such experience of this. When engaging reverse, on occasion one could hear a flap lift and the camera would display; indeed there was a menu function to lift the cover to clean the camera, not that I needed to in more than 100,000 miles.

On the ES there’s a reversing camera, but it is next useless in this season, and picks up all the rural grime and spray I travel through.

Has anyone devised a solution, and solution might be the answer, to keep this clean? Would that I have to put the car in P, get out, wipe the camera, and reverse into my driveway! I’ve got to dodge a few other vehicles, and the photo below shows one, my 1980 Land Rover Series 3 long wheelbase; invisible to the dribbles on the camera!

    Thank you

  10. 1100 miles in, and 1/2 of my 2nd tank remaining; mixed A roads and motorways, 2 weeks into ownership.  Computer declares 57.7mpg since delivery with 10 miles on the clock.

Certainly more efficient than my C350e, even when starting with a fully charged Battery, and I agree, seats are awesome!

  11. My Mercedes and BMW are both noisy; well they were until replaced with quality Bosch replacements after the same irritation as you’re experiencing Steve. (Excel+)

Thank you for the heads up, collecting next week 🤘

Dealer sent me a mini video just after it came off transporter.   Notice no centre wheel  caps and the  plastic film over wheels.

Same spec as mine I believe, ordered on 4th February expected in the batch on the ocean, so early September.

Vehicle: Lexus ES Saloon 300h 2.5 4Dr CVT [premium Pack]

    Colour: Solid - Black
Trim: Smooth leather - Topaz Brown

  13. Good morning!

Still eagerly awaiting my September delivery, February order; I don't test drive as for me it is a little like peeking at a wrapped present 🎁.  The only time I do is when I am adding to my eclectic horde of classic vehicles.

    Quiz regards connectivity.

    • Back with my 63 plate BMW 520d there was a 'Send to Car' option from Google Maps to instruct the sat nav; the car would notify you when you got to the car and ask if you wanted to use that destination, or not
    • With my 66 plate C350e, there is a suite of function from a mobile device application
      • Remote departure time set, so that the car defrosts and warms or cools based on a departure time sent from a mobile anywhere in the world; like a few occasions arriving back to the UK at early hours of the morning in winter, and telling the car to be ready for 0200hrs where the heated seats are on and it is 21C inside
      • Remote monitoring of the car, including geo-cache warnings; useful for monitoring the valet parking drivers at an airport 😉
      • Remote sat nav instruction from mobile and more....

    I'm waffling!

Does the ES have any such convenience functionality or Lexus App?

@fetchez la vache what further updates have you for those looking forward to our arrivals?

My car is currently on a ship called 'Toledo' which is somewhere on the south west cost of Italy. I am also told that my car may well already have the upgrade to ACP/AA but if not they will do it at the dealership once they are happy there are no issues.

Making steady progress, @18kn; Italy the next stop.
