  1. I have a set of 4 OEM Type C 18" 8J wheels for sale, these are from the facelift 6-Speed. They are not buckled or cracked as far as I know but are in need of a refurb (see pics).

Best offer, buyer collects. I'm moving in the middle of June so they need to be gone by the start of June at the lastest.

They are on eBay but am open to offers from forum members obvs..

  2. Thanks for that Peter. I store my car at Charlton Park near Malmesbury which is 10 mins from Tetbury. He is full at the moment but they are building new facilities which open later this year. They are really good but not the cheapest around.

  3. I've just discovered that the guy who has serviced my SC430 and was Lexus & Toyota trained, has left the garage I've used for years.

Can anyone recommend a good specialist?? I'm due a very full service when she come out of storage in March...

To be honest, for that kind of money I'd be looking at a 450h. They seem to be less prone to corrosion and leak issues, especially if you're not partcularly wedded to the need for a sunroof and/or roof bars.

I was in the same position a couple of years ago and was looking at 400hs, albeit at lower prices. In the end I upped my budget to £10k and got a 450h in great condition, and haven't regretted it.

I think that's how I will go. I need a cheap donkey for 18 months which is likely to get abused so the 450h looks like the better shout...Thanks

It looks very clean and tidy but possibly superficial. To me it looks like the wheels, brake discs, callipers and wheel arches have all be recently sprayed (to cover up corrosion), but was it done properly? Certainly the wheels have just been sprayed with an aerosol rather than being properly refurbished (you can see the overspray on the tyres) so the finish might not last that long.

These vehicles, at this age, are prone to corrosion on the sills and underneath - you want to make sure this metalwork is sound, not just had a layer of underseal sprayed over corrosion.

These RX are also now prone to water ingress due to failing body seams and rear light seals - check the boot well for any water.

Price seems high, but it is low mileage. Personally I'd prefer a newer vehicle with more miles as age is the bigger issue.

Thanks for this, I hadn't notice the overspray but it's blindly obvious, that alone is a enough to put me off. I'll keep searching and thanks for your quick response..

Very unusual to see a one owner car at such low mileage and if the MOT and service records match no reason to assume it's not genuine, but nonetheless it is now a relatively old car and age related issues such as rubber suspension components, CV boots etc may well be degrading.

No idea on price, I do recall there may have been some previous posts about mixed experiences with this particular dealer.

Thanks very much for this, very helpful  info👍

  7. Here is the ugly evidence. I reckon the nearside one weighed only half of it's replacement. As someone who is pretty fastidious about maintenance and safety, I was frankly shocked and embarrassed about the state of these. Simple to ignore and overlook. To reiterate, not surprisingly (in hindsight) this change has totally transformed the front end driving experience.

    Best regards.

    Hi Nick

Thanks for that, I was contemplating what the first step should be when tackling suspension improvement and I think your idea gets 1st prize!

How many miles has your car done and is it believed that the ones replaced were the originals?

(A pic would have been brilliant)

    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

I kept the manky ones that came off. I will take some pics and post them over the next few days. It's such a blindingly obvious thing to do (post event obvs🙂) considering the amount of work they have to do and the twisting effect constantly on them. My car has just passed 76k and they look like the originals. I cannot emphasise enough the magic it has worked on the driving experience.

    Best regards.

    Nick

Nick, I saw you car parked in front of a Cromer sea front hotel a couple of weeks back and very nice it looked too. I had my SC430 parked less than a mile away in East Runton, Unfortunately I could only manage 27MPG on the 70 mile run up from West Suffolk.

Excellent, I saw you (Black SC430) driving past two up with the roof down😃

    Hi Nick

Do you have the part number and cost please?

H Nigel, Sorry for the delay, I've not been getting notifications that I can see. P/N 52257-24010 & 52258-24010 (left & right). Cost was £67.35 each and I was charged £50 labour....It's bloody marvelous.

  12. I have done 5 trips to North Norfolk and back to Gloucestershire since March this year, all roof up, 2 people, 2 dogs, boot full. Weather has been mainly fair but some rain, traffic variable but mainly good. Route M4, M25, M11, A14, A11/A134/A1065/A148 to Cromer. All at legal maximum conditions allowing. Total distance c1500 miles Average MPG 30.1 Fuel Used: Tesco Momentum 99 (mainly) & Shell V-Power. I am happy with this.

  13. On the recent MOT it was noted that these were corroded, one severely. I have had them replaced. Never has such a simple job transformed the drive more unexpectedly, drives like a new car now. If anyone has that slight shimmy at around 50/60 mph that some mention, I'd change these first before embarking on expensive suspension mods.

    Hi Guys

Yes!!! The Lexus SC430 and Soarer meeting is definitely on this weekend. Everyone is welcome even if you are not going to arrive in a SC430! It will be great to meet all the new faces and cars as well as the regulars.

On Saturday there will be various workshops including popular ones like the fitting of modifications supplied by Calvin at SC430MODS.COM.

On Sunday there will be the main event and a display of the finest and well loved vehicles in our class.

There is a big carpark at the venue and there are several hotels in the vicinity. If anyone has any questions or needs any further help, do not hesitate to contact me.

It would be helpful for the organisers to know who is intending to join us and what days. Please let Juan know on the Facebook group or me on here.

    Regards, Anthony
