After some advice please.

My GS300 sunroof is starting to leak water around the sunroof... I think the seals around the glass sunroof are worn and need a new seal around.

Any idea how I can reseal? I couldn't find any seal specific for this car. Can I get get a universal seal and fit around the glass?

Just after some advice on how best to approach it and type of seal I need?

Hi Matt - Lovely looking LS400! I had one a few years back, sold it but I really regret it. I should have kept it 😞

They are rare wheels, its hard to find the staggered wheel set. I've got a set on my GS300 Mk1. Even rarer to find one that hasnt been welding etc.

Are you looking to sell them? 

Looking for a ECU for a 1st gen GS300 1996. Got some engine start up issues and a few car electricians have said that it might be a faulty ECU.

Hi All.

The cars back at home now parked up. Mechanics gave up on it and sadly no body has been able to diagnose the issue.

Its off road now and will try and see if I can get some other mechanics to look at it but for now taking a little break.

When it starts, are you able to rev the engine? Is it cutting out only on idle?

If you aren't getting an error code then the crank sensor is probably ok. Do you know if plugs are still sparking when the engine dies?

Yes security light goes out, we don't believe it to be an immobiliser as the start starts and can give it a few revs before it cuts out. 

Once it cuts out then there's no sparks.

Does you or anyone else know if I buy a replacement ECU module, does it need to be reprogrammed?

The conclusion so far is its some sort of signal issue somewhere.

My mechanic has given up on it and my only option is now to book it in at main Lexus dealers....

The mechanic did a diagnostic test (the old school blink test). No errors came back at all. I was hoping this would pick something up but no joy sadly

My last option to consider is buying another GS300 and doing a full engine and electronics switch over.

It will cost me some money but its a car I want to keep alive

I'm in need of desperate help to save my beloved GS300 sport 1996 MK1.

The car starts and cuts off within a few seconds.

Been with a mechanic for 2 weeks and no joy.

I have changed the following but still issue persists!

Distributor

Crankshaft sensor

Ignition coil pack

Ignition ignitor 

Sparks

Can anyone help or recommend anyone who could look at this?

I really want to keep her alive and on the road but I've hit a brick wall! I don't want to end up selling her for parts.

Any help is appreciated.

It's  GS300 1996 mk1 sport. 2JZ GE engine. 

Spent some time the other day re doing the black trim around the windows and front windscreen. The black had turned into a dull grey over time.

Gone for a black glossy look.

The engine is so quiet, smooth and gearbox is silky. Lexus really did a brilliant job with this first gen GS300!

I've owned my Lexus GS300 MK1 1996 Sport for 8 months now. Absolutely love it. 

Had new springs fitted

All wheels fully refurbished

Brand new tyres

Machine Polish

Full Service done

Not many of these MK1 GS300 Sport around, doing my best to bring it back to really good condition and keep it completely stock. Its a dream to drive and has the legendary 2JZ GE engine - super smooth.

So had lambda/o2 sensor replaced but problem is still there! 

This is exactly what happens:

Starts up fine when I start car first time for first use.

After driving a while, turn engine off and come back to the car after a short while then starts up and cuts out straight away, start again and doesn't crank just keeps ticking. Take the key out put back in and starts and cuts out.

10 15min later starts normal 

Driving me nuts!

I took it to a garage and they did the flashing light diagnostic. It has the early OBD port. 

It came up with fault with the Lambda sensor pre cat.

I've had this replaced today so fingers crossed it sorts the problem out.

I have a Lexus GS300 MK1 1996 (S140) that i have had for 5 months. Recently starting getting problems with starting up the car, the car cranks but doesn't start up, then randomly sometimes it will start up. When i turn the engine off and try starting back up, it starts up then cuts out within a few seconds.

I can't find any mechanics/garages who have a diagnostic machine to run due to the OBD port being so old (its a circle 16pin one).

Been told it 'might' be a Camshaft sensor

any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Set of 4 suspension springs for sale. For Lexus Gs300 1996 mk1 1st gen.

Tool them off my gs300 as I've purchased full coil over set.

In good condition. Make me an offer I'll let them go pretty cheap. Buyer must collect or I can delivery within 35mile radius for a very small charge to cover fuel. Pics available

Couldn't find any on the Bay for mk1 early model all for mk2.

Coilovers option but cheapest I've found is £600 in UK but been advised that coilovers will stiffen ride? Don't want to ruin the ride quality.

Does anyone know where i can purchase some coil springs for GS300 MK1 Sport 1996 model? I need front and rear replaced. 

I have searched all over and can't find a company that stocks them? I've been advised to get custom made ones. The GS300 Sport MK1 came with 25mm lowered springs so I need the same ones.

Anyone know where i can find or any recommendations on custom made springs? 

Any help is appreciated.

I've just purchased a Lexus GS300 MK1 Sport. Finally found one after looking for a while.

Prev. had LS400.

Any MK1 Sport fans out there that i can connect with please? I've got a list of work that I need to do!

Can anyone tell me what the standard MK1 Sport suspension set up is? I'm looking for some after market springs to lower the car down to 35mm but finding springs is impossible!

Hi All

Fitted some new LED number plate lights today on my LS400. They were around £4 off eBay. Its a quick and easy upgrade and makes such a big difference!

Gives it a more upgraded look... very bright I must say. Gave the plastic lenses a good clean aswell to enhance the brightness 🙂 

Next job for weekend is upgrading foglights to clear white ones to match with xenon's 😄 excited!
