  1. Wow, that was very helpful indeed 😁 👍 🙏

Well I live in the city London and once in a month travel Manchester around 4 hours journey. Had Crossclimate on my previous vehicle RX400h and they were great, in fact those tyres gave me extra confidence driving in tricky bad full of potholes roads and on rainy days the grip was amazing.

Now that I replaced it with a CT200h (came with budget/mid range tyres fitted) I want to stick to Michelin because of the past experience.

Obviously the CT is not a sports car by any means but the sports mode really does make it fun to drive though.

Obviously my current tyres are bad they produce a roar sound when moving off, their very noisy on the motorway and doesn't really help with the already slight firm ride of the CT

I think I will go ahead with the Primacy 4 due to low road noise rating and fuel economy reasons.

Crossclimate around London city won't be needed as we barely get any snow/icy weather conditions unlike the north on England, and considering the the size of the CT the Primacy non XL version will be better suited for a small luxury hatch like these. If I was living in north of England where the winter is always icy cold damp then no doubt I would have easily picked the Crossclimate.

Anyways once I get the tyres fitted balanced and wheel alignment done as well, i will update on this thread. Really hoping the Primacy 4s improve the comfort of the ride a bit as I always had Crossclimate in my previous cars.

  2. Can anyone recommend a 17inch tyre for my CT200h?

The ride is definitely firm compared to my previous car, any tyres that will improve my ride quality and also give good mpg.

Currently my car is on some mid range tyre called Sunny and the roar it produces from these tyres are unbearable.

Was leaning towards Primacy 4 or Crossclimate 2 but would love to hear your thoughts on the tyres

  3. Hi members,

My rx400h both front control arm need changing. I have found the parts on eBay for both at £150.00 but can anyone recommend me a independent garage that knows how to replace the suspension?

I am based in east London and based on my searches can't find anybody that knows how to replace. All I get is "we can look into it and then quote labour"

I don't mind traveling a bit as long as the garage has loan/courtesy car available for the day.

    Please recommend garages

    Thanks

GS450h got top marks for reliability multiple years in a row so you aren't going to get that much better.

You do have a few things likely to fail:
Traction battery - Around £700 for a refit for £2200 for a replacement. Either will come with a warranty but avoidable if your car is eligible for
the lexus hybrid checkups which guarantee it.
Exhaust - This is going to rust from the cats back. Fortunately you can get the entirely exhaust system replaced for £500ish. Just don't go to lexus
as the front section includes the cats where as an exhaust specialist can just chop of the bad section and replace it instead of replacing the cats as
    well.
Suspension - Well it's a heavy car and that takes its toll on the shocks. Costs around £2000 to replace all 4. They are going to go at some point 🙂

Other than those bits, it's probably one of the most solid cars on the road mechanically. Generally even if something does
go wrong, it'll give you more than enough time to get home before dying at the very least. Basically everything is engineered
with a much higher margin/tolerance than most other cars so even after a long time its still unlikely anything will go wrong.

Mine is 2007 at 190k+ miles and other than the 3 bits above and normal wear and tear components its still in perfect running order (touch wood)
and mechanic reckons it's good for at least another 100k minimum.

Thanks for the advice, considering its 06 plate i am currently looking at with low mileage, I just cant justify spending half the value of the car for faults like traction Battery or suspension if it was to go wrong.

Wow 2k for suspension, my rx400h had front and rear suspension replaced for almost half that.

Lets see If i can get the dealer to lower his asking price.

  5. Hi

I found a low mileage GS450h 2006 (56k mileage)with full lexus history. I will be part exchanging my current RX400H 09 plate with 196k current mileage.

Just wanted to know how reliable are these vehicles, really cant find much info about these compare to other Lexus's. I just want a reliable motorway cruiser and some city/town driving.

Any experience advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

  6. Thanks, yeah i took it back and left the car with them for a day. Although i dont have any errors / messages on dashboard, i think they might have incorrectly installed the new belt.

Might have to take it back again and get them to redo the whole cambelt again.

They also worked on my brakes lubricating all moving parts, hope they have not messed up anything there, because brakes work fine but maybe something is sticking to brakes?

  7. Hi everyone

I got my cambelt and water pump changed for RX400H at well known independent garage Japex in Hertfordshire.

After picking up my vehicle I've noticed straightaway my car feels sluggish and doesn't pull away as fast as it should do.

Also on motorways when i try to overtake, when i fully press down the gas pedal it takes like half second delay before it pulls aways.

Ive taken the car back to them and they checked and said everything is fine.

Has anybody experienced such issues after a cambelt change or any advice please,?

Also my steering feels a bit stiff since the cambelt change.

    Thanks

  8. Hi guys please try to help me out here, recently bought a rx400h in excellent condition, but just few days ago something went wrong, all the road noise enters the cabin, even if am parked and a car was to drive pass it sounds like a window is slightly open when its not, ive checked all the seals and everything looks fine.

What ive noticed is when driving, the outside air is hitting my face from all the front centre air vents even if its switched off, I believe that could be the cause for the road noise entering the cabin.

Today it was a bit windy, so i went inside my car, had the ignition off just sitting inside trying to figure out the cause, and i put my hands right in front of the vents, and all i feel was the wind outside hitting my hands.

Has anybody experienced such issues or any advice on this?

  9. Just a quick update, got my car fitted with 4 new michelin cross climate today. Car feels so much grippier and smooth. Definitely it has made my cabin noise less. Running them fronts 34psi and rears 36psi.

But still road noise is there when driving 40mph and above. Found the front passenger rubber in  the lower frame has a small crack/tear, guess that is whats causing excess road noise. Going to get them replaced with new ones by lexus. Hopefully that should cure the cabin noise.

I don't think you will be disappointed with them. Keep an eye out for the Michelin preloaded debit card offer. I have saved £200 on my last 2,sets of tyres. Offer usually around October if you can wait.

Thanks for the heads up, wasn't aware of this offer, but unfortunately i cant wait this long as i  bought the car recently and those front budgets tyres are really ruining my whole ride experience due to excess cabin noise.

    Edit

What psi would be recommended for these cross climate xl tyres. Its a 235/55/R18 v104

    I prefer comfort over mpg

  11. Yes those tyres are very well rated, read positive reviews about them, its just I've never had them on any of my previous cars so not too sure about the ride quality, comfort and noise levels. Will definitely look into these.

Only had Michelin and Bridgestone on my previous car which was a Qashqai.

Am leaning towards the cross climate for my rx400h after reading many positive reviews, but am just waiting to hear what other members experience is with cross climate if they had them on

  12. Hi

Recently i bought a 2008 rx400h (my first lexus) and its a bit noisy inside the cabin. The dealer pointed out its due to budget tyres fitted at the front.

Currently it has a 235/55/R18 Radar brand budget tyres at the fronts and rears Bridgestone patenza.

I intend to change all 4 tyres, to either michelin cross climate suv XL or michelin Primacy 4.

I was wondering if the XL would be any better compared to Primacy 4 not an XL.

I've read somewhere that a XL tyre is usually a bit noisy.

Anybody can recommend me tyres or their experience with cross climate suv XL.

The Michelin latitude tour also another tyre i am considering due to its lower noise db rating

    Thanks
