  1. Hi. All done! Had to take of the oil catcher off to gain access to the filter proper, only 3 bolts, tried WD40 on the seal, hammer and screwdriver at the base of the filter then chain wrench and job done (so am I). Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions and support, it’s appreciated.
  2. Hi. Thank you for the comments, will attempt cutting back the outer casing to gain access to the tapping base plate that has the oil flow holes. Will update regarding progress, ie, rolled car into the canal, in A and E with deep cuts to hands or to throat, filter came off or gave up and wandered off into the distance. Regards.
  3. Hi. I think I'm a little past the point where that would be of any use, but worth knowing in future, many thanks.
  4. Hi. Firstly, the cat was stolen, now the damn oil filter will not budge. Took it to Lexus in Stockport last year for a service, decided this year to do it myself. Took the front under shield off (easy as it had only 4 bolts in it, all tight and rusted in), used chain filter removal tool, nothing and started to collapse the filter. Tried Stillsons, nothing, resorted to screwdriver through the canister method, absolutely solid. I have complete hundreds of oil filter changes and have never encountered such a stubborn/tight oil filter, I'm wondering how long it's been on or why it was torqued so tight? Now have a holed squashed and welded in oil filter, any ideas?
  5. Hi. Had the Hybrid battery test undertaken to day (passed with flying colours) at Lexus in Stockport. Speaking to staff on reception in the service department, they said that 3 customers this week alone have confirmed that they have had catalytic convertors stolen.
  6. Hi. Just a quick update Ashton Police contacted me today. They asked for some details and confirmed that they are looking into the case and that there has been a spate of similar thefts and it is now on their radar. Let’s hope something transpire like an arrest and conviction. Also, I returned to the car park a week after the cat theft from my car, my granddaughter and I did some shopping at Sainsburys and left my wife in the car. On our return she related something that was unusual. She saw a large scrap metal wagon with scrap visible in the back. It parked on the hatched area of the parking from which a person in a Hi Vis jacked alighted and immediately disappeared from view (she thought he dropped to the ground). Suddenly flashing lights and an alarm from a silver SUV next to the wagon started, the person in Hi Vis jumped into the wagon and it exited the car park. Apparently as the wagon pulled away someone was running towards the wagon pointing what look liked a key fob at the silver car. Make of it what you will, but keep an eye open for large scrap wagons in mainly car orientated car parks.
  7. Thank you for the information. The MOT is due in February so it's something to consider. Not replacing with another cat has multiple benefits, no chance of further theft and I will not contributing to the theiving toe rags ongoing profit margins and pension. Regards.
  8. Hi. Yes, but par for the course, there will always be people who prefer\choose the easy option regarding income. It's the unscrupulous scrap yards that buy them that encourages the theft. Regards.
  9. Hi. Not checked the signage, I assume it will say "...at owners risk...." Currently waiting for a reply from vendors regarding CCTV. Reported to Police, Covid trumps Cat.🤣 Regards.
  10. Hi. Just an update to make owners aware, on Saturday I had my catalytic converter stolen on the M&S/Sainsbury's car park in Ashton Under Lyne. Only in the shop 10 minutes. Now have a temporary repair. Just be aware and keep an eye open for the scumbags!!!! Regards.
  11. Hi. New owner of a 2008 RX 400h SE-L. Light blue, 133,000 miles, lovely overall condition. Really impressed with the ride and performance, smooth, quiet and sure footed. Hope I will not be posting any requests for help and assistance relating to problems! Phil.
