  1. The online booking system is crap. It allows you to book times they cannot accommodate. I booked a service and mot and was called and told I’d made a mistake as I’d booked a service when the technicians have their lunch.

Needless to say the conversation deteriorated from there. I eventually spoke to the Service Manager at the dealership themselves and he put everything right. Bristol Lexus have been great every time I’ve used them. They have an amazing new facility too.

But that's what I mean. The computer doesn't take into account humidity or temperature or any other variable like tyre pressure. It could be a number of things

Like many people, the journeys I make are repetitive. I reset the computer pretty much every journey. Iv over two years experience driving the same journeys in the same car in all different weathers. So I've a very good understanding of what mpg I should expect.

I've noticed a significant difference from the moment I collected my car from its Full 60 service. I don't know what is in the volatile memory and what is in the non-volatile computer memory. But everything was displayed as normal when I collected the car. So no evidence of the ECU being reset. Perhaps it was. I can't be sure.

I presume you also measure the ambient humidity whilst doing your calculations?

You presume wrong as I don't do any calculations. I use the onboard computer. I simply compare trips like for like so it matters not whether the computer is accurate. It's the delta I'm looking at. It's really quite simple. Since the service my car is using noticeably more fuel.

  4. Hi All,

A few weeks back my CT went in for it's Full 60 Service. I believe the plugs are changed at this point and I was expecting (if anything) the fuel consumption to improve.

Bizarrely after collecting the car I noticed a drop in the reported mpg. I've always been impressed with the mpg of my CT. In mild weather I've managed in excess of 70mpg a few times (72.3 being the best on a trip to the coast and back) but generally I get over 60. After swapping to Michelin Cross-Climates this dropped by a couple but the improve in ride was a price worth paying.

After filling up with E10 fuel last week the mpg has dropped further and on the school run where I'd regularly achieve 60+ I'm now down to around 54mpg. I've now just filled up with Shell V-Power a couple of days ago which is E5 and I've noticed no improvement. So considering I first noticed a decline in mpg immediately after the service I'm wondering if Lexus do anything to the car at 60k miles which would effect the fuel economy. Such as re-programming the battery/hybrid system in order to preserve the life of the Battery. I'll likely contact the dealer and ask the question but thought I'd post here first in case anyone else has had a similar experience.

    Cheers.

  5. When my CT recently went in for a service I’d arranged a UX courtesy car for 2 days with the dealer. When I turned up I was told they didn’t have one for me. Or they did but it was the electric version which I declined. So they gave me an NX F Sport instead. Whilst there I had a good look around two UXs in the showroom. Inside I think they are absolutely stunning but unfortunately it just confirmed they aren’t noticeably any bigger inside than a CT. I do think if I’m going to change I want something a bit bigger.

The NX was lovely. My wife and kids wanted to keep it and I have to say it wasn’t great getting back into my CT are having the NX where I’d averaged 43mpg whilst I had it. And I did like the high up seating position. It maybe just needed a little more power and torque.

Having spoken with the Servicing Manager I am also now interested in a used ES. The F Sport with Takumi pack specifically so will see what pops up used over the next 12 months.

Good luck with the UX. I would be keen to know how you get on with it.

Ah yes the wipers. So I believe the NX was the first vehicle that Lexus changed over to the flat aero style wiper blades and they came with either Trico/Denso standard fit. The genuine ones are a bit rubbish and were changed out by the dealers in the US but for some reason I dont think they were over here as they didnt have enough complaints.

I had the same problem with the RX. Changed the wipers to Bosch aerotwin and havent had any groaning since

That's interesting. Just fitted new OEM blades to my CT and they appear to groan at the end of their travel. Didn't notice it before.

Looking to move from my much loved Jaguar xf to a smaller car, been contemplating a CT for some time but don't know much about them so wanted some general advice especially about the battery and what to look out for when buying a used one as I my case a 2014 plate.

    Thanks.

I also moved from an XF to a CT. After pouring money into the XF for over 3 years I wanted something reliable that was good on fuel. Initially I was after an IS300h but was sold on the CTs fuel consumption. Now my wife has a 1.6 diesel Golf I'm thinking of either an IS, NX or an ES in the next 6-12 months. I had an NX courtesy car this week and the whole family wanted to keep it!

Personally I love my CT. Great on fuel, well built, handles well and it's very smooth and quiet when driven sensibly.

Servicing costs at a main dealer are reasonable and the customer service is fantastic. You now get 12 months warranty free with every service too.

I went for an Advance Plus as it had a decent spec for the price and I like the exterior styling too. I felt it gave the most bang for the buck. Newer CTs have better safety kit as standard but they also actually cost money to tax where as pre-March 2017 don't (check I've got that date right).

I would strongly recommend buying from. Lexus main dealer and make sure servicing is all as it should be. Hybrid system checks are included in all services and Lexus give the Hybrid system an extra 12 months warranty each time. So you have piece of mind there.

Ricky, I did not think that GB signs on their own were having to be replaced.

I thought that GB signs when included with EU signs (as many have been) meant the entire registration plate having to be replaced as GB was no longer wIthin the EU.

Where replacement was necessary then UK was being introduced.

    Am I wrong ?

I'm just going by what I've read here John amongst other websites.....

  9. Hybrids are good for short trips in mild weather as the engine warms up quicker and the cabin doest need to be heated by the engine. So as mentioned, your fuel consumption figures appear to be poor considering your climate.

Short trips in cold weather and all cars will struggle.

There are a mountain of things than can influence a car's economy performance, laden weight oil viscosity  brake wear, fuel grade, tyres (car makers always err on the soft side for comfort, while tyre makers say harder for performance and economy) plus much more.

Driving style also comes into play, when my son in law uses my Jaguar XF R-Sport for work when I am off, he gets about 5 mpg less over the same trips.

If I want to check fuel usage I always fill to the brim and refill to the same level when low. I doubt many drivers of any vehicle would mirror other drivers numbers.

All I can guarantee is our Ct200h at present will do 60mpg and a tad less in winter. Lexus will always be non committal over fuel usage seeing as they advertise it as 4.1lt per 100k 😁

Be interested to see what other owners average on their CT.

I get more or less the same as you. In mild weather I average just over 60mpg. In colder weather I average about 56mpg. That's after fitting Cross Climates. Ive previously managed over 70mpg on certain trips. 72.3mpg being the best with four in the car almost entirely on A and B roads.

  11. Would be interested to hear more on your thoughts on how they compare. Mulling over a newer car and whether to trade either our CT or Golf for a newer, bigger Lexus. My CT is going in for a Full 60 service and I will have a UX for 24 hours. But I’m wondering if something bigger would in fact be better. Fuel consumption would take a hit but as long as we keep either of the golf 1.6 diesel or the CT we can afford to compromise on fuel consumption for a bigger main car. The IS300h was the first Lexus I considered before changing my mind and getting a CT.

How is the NX on fuel compared to your IS? It’s down on power so is this noticeable? How about boot space and rear legroom?

    Thanks in advance and congratulations!

    Copied from another post -:

No timing belt, no starter motor, no generator, no accessory belt, no reverse gear, not even a true transmission.

No wonder nothing breaks on these cars! 😃

Hopefully....my Full 60 service is due within the next month. Think I'm going to ask for a drive in a UX250h to see what I think.

That's good. I took out the 2 for 1 offer extended warranty last July. If I've read the terms right, it looks like I'll get a years refund when I take it for service this July. We'll see.

Will have to pay for assistance now. I wonder how much that will be, and whether it will still cover the wife and European travel?

That's the big question as you get 24 months for the price of 12 with the 2-4-1. So will they just consider your 2nd year as free and therefore not entitled to a refund? I'm in the same boat.
