buying OEM parts from Amayama and Rockauto is often ££££ better than from the Lexus Main Dealer we find joro

    Malc

what car is it btw ?

Old Rusty Honda accord 2.2 vtec engine manual 5 speed gearbox recaro seats.

I agree with you rock auto and amayama prices can be better but........ i needed parts urgently, and uk dealership can supply to me very very fast.

almost in a day.... and i am happy from their prices.

I also buy parts from these places which you mention but only if i can wait.... that much...

  2. Hi i dont live in the uk,

and i am looking for the car in the whole Europe 🙂 so i can import car from every country in the Eu or i can import 1 from USA/Canada as well.

Can someone confirm  is the regular suspention for LS430 adaptive can you change hard/soft of the suspention dampers or its regular ?

In regular i mean in less levels trims or once air suspention have been converted to regular.

joro, where are you then ?

is there an import duty to pay if you source an older car from the UK ?

    Malc

Hi i am from Bg here we drive left hand drive and if car is imported you pay expensive shipping of the car +  custom fees and other taxes , it doesnt matter from where car is curently the cheapest car. Which can be imported final price with everything starts at 10.000 gbp as a min.it doesnt matter older or newer car taxes and shipping are simular we cant drive also here right hand .

I'm thinking you might be best off buying the Ls430 that max's your budget provided you ensure all is well with the car

Take someone along who can grovel underneath to check for rust and good at understanding the mechanics .  especially the MOT Advisories and service records

20.000euros would be totally bonkers to spend on an old " banger " to bring the body and underside and interior up to near new methinks

    Malc

Hi in my country not many cars are available, so i need to source from abroad one and i can rely on pictures and videos only. For how much did you bought your car and how much you spend on repairs so far 🙂 ?

So far i find normal price around 10.000gbp for left hand drive without service history unfortunately... not sure if this is a good or bad price...

My maximum budget for left hand drive is max 10k gbp.For that amount i can find without proper maintenance and service history.

  5. Hi everyone, i just to say,

My final goodbye to my GS 450h  i use to own gs 450h 4th gen, it was bought and exported to another country this week.Person come test it drive it saw it inspected everything negotiated big discount on the price and thats it.

    My car was really amazing,

4th generation gs450h  with adaptive dampers, big front brakes

great fuel economy 5.2 litres best per 100km and worst 7.5litres per 100km.

It had night vision, 18 way front seat cooled heated seats , heat window + wipers.

Mark levinson adaptive cruise control president line with extra 2 buttons of the passenger seat,

LED high and low beams with AFS.

it was my first Lexus, and it was great amazing car i will miss the car a lot.

i owned car for approximately almost 2 years.

Due to my wife parting away with me and loosing my job , that was the main reason for the car sale.It was difficult decision to make, i fully serviced the car everything suspention, gearbox and etcs.... all with original parts. Car had really tons of features including drive aware system and electric heater etcs... everything + water package.

I always cleaned car with the most expensive and best possible options like cleaning solutions from abroad  like USA/Europe, and vacuum clean it with dyson with portable batteries...

for the leather i used 5 different chemicals in order to be soft i even bought gs f floor mats.

Which i sadly used very few times because car was sold... just after i replaced the whole suspention car was sold at huge loose as well..

The best car i ever had, may be  the only good replacement and upgrade for it will be some day LS 5th gen or new generation gs... if they creat 5th generation.. i can go with ls430 but we will see.

Search for " rust prevention" on here and you'll find more information on that subject from people who have had an experience different to mine.

i want good rust prevention from the factory i dont plan to spend 20.000 euro to fully galvanize and protect the car....

I test drove several LS400, LS430 and a couple of LS460s before I bought my LS430. The LS400s have softer, floatier suspension but have a lot of body roll. The LS460s both had harsher suspension and numb handling. The LS430s all had soft compliant suspension and handled well for a 2 ton car, so I chose the best one I could find in my budget.

The LS430 air-suspension is somewhat adaptive so in a straight line it wafts along but in the corners it stiffens up the shocks which reduces lean compared to the standard suspension. Yes, it will be expensive to repair but they do 150-200k miles on most before needing attention.

Thanks for your feedback i will definetely go with LS430 , is your car with air suspention currently ? Also what is the other option for suspention ordinary or adaptive struts/shocks suspention like adaptive dampers ?

Also do you see any rust in your car somewhere and do you keep in parking garage or outside ?

Also, i have noticed some ls430 cars have seats in bad shape, is it easy to change the leather or  the car will make totally different compared to the factory leather?

  7. Thank you all for the feedback ,how about rust protection ? Where i live it rains a lot and cars rust a lot specially Lexus and japanese cars my previous car was rusty a lot...

if i pick 3rd gen LS, will i have some decent rust / corrosion resistance or i need to go with 1st and 2nd gen LS?

I also like and find 3rd gen  cool car. 🙂

i know that some people convert them to shocks and struts instead of air due to the price.

  8. Hello i sold my lexus gs recently 4th gen.450h.
which was lexus president you know, i really loved the car so i am looking to raise the bar one again.

My question for you today is.
Is lexus 3rd gen ls 430 better riding compared to LS 1ST and 2nd generation and also ls 4th and 5th generation ?

Also can someone compared it with gs 4th generation my last car was gs450h 4th generation with adaptive shocks.
I need honest opinion please i cannot fully test all lexus generations ls from 1st till 5th they are simply not available in Bg,
please provide me your honest feedback in ride i am very interest i need smoth and extremely comfortable ride,

I understand thats not a sporty car i dont care how slow car is, but ride is extremely important and also hopefully this car have better corrosion protection compared to Rusty GS .
I understand probably some people will like more s class but i plan to get another LEXUS president top of the line LS. 3rd gen.

  9. Hi i have 3 cars,

i will not drive Gs that much miles each year so i cant do 2 oil changes i dont do to any of my car 2 oil changes per year.I see you own is 250 , are you sure this manual is for gs450h 4th generation?

So is 5w 30 the best choise for 90% highway drive and 10% city drive with Gs450h 4th generation ?

Unfortunately i dont have the manual for my car... since it was imported from non english speaking country...

Will i have any issues with 5w 30 in the winter here sometimes temperatures gets -10 degrees in the winter, for my other older cars i use 5w 30 but they are older cars...Sometimes even in the winter we have 20 degrees of temperature so most of the time its summer or spring here winter is non existing any more due to global warming..

    Also how about 0w 40  is it better than 5w 30 ?

I have friends with newer car for which also 0w 20 is adviced from dealer but they are using 0w40 instead, and i know for sure that  most dealership in europe are using instead of 0w 20 either 5w 30 or 5w 40 , but i dont understand the difference between these two .

  10. Hi all i have GS450H lexus 4th generation year 2012,  in Europe most dealership never use 0w 20, they simply put whatever they have for example 5w 30 or 5w 40,

Also  i had other japanese cars same year 2012 or up, and when i used 0w 20 on hot summer temperature specially highway driving this oil evaporates or it becames like water, so i always receive low oil pressure light....

so oil needs to be added in order light to became off ,  according to GS 4TH gen specs

    these are most common oils.

    • 0W-20

    • 5W-20

    • 5W-30

I wonder can i use either 0w 40 or 5w 30 or 5w 40 i dont want to damage the car engine and i also dont want to have issues when temperatures are hot.

i live in Bg, so here  we dont have winter or harsh winter like other countries...

Which one of the oils should i pick 0w  40 or 5w 30 or 5w 40 , since 0w 20 becames water for high revs and rpm and highway drive and i dont want to bring always oil with me and to stop to add etcs....

  11. Hi i am planning, getting, lexus 450h or , 450h f sport, which one is better and what are most common issues ?
i want to know which one is better same miles, same price, both lack ACC - adaptive cruise control,  i want to know these cars and this hybrid engine what are the most common issues with these cars since cars are out of warranty ?

so i am not the only one thinking what a pointless post

this isnt the only pointless post they have made

they have asked what the suspension is made from ....:confused1:WTF:confused1:

why would anyone need to know that

About suspenion posts, i asked because in my country Roads are full of potholes and aluminum suspenion can brake very easily thats why.

Also it can be helpfull to other people as well.

Its not easy simply to make a list, because i plan to keep the car for at least around 5-10 years that real pros and cons are people who own the car like you and who have experience with it already for few years,

not some gimmick marketing from i-net. Thats why i created the topic to get more details. It can help other as well if not right now in the near future.

So i am still divided between these cars.

  13. Accord 7th is more reliable than 8th gen since it have non Electronic power steering, but its older car now....  - so let me summarize if i get accord it will driven in lpg so  if we make the bill it will cost me same price as lexus for fuel or even less, or i will get already converted to lpg, if we are talking about bigger engine 2.4

if its smaller engine which is 2.0 petrol it will probably be driven in petrol fuel  which on highway with 140km/ per hour it will be around 6 litres which i guess lexus will be very close i have seen ct200h average fuel at 5.5

on high way and faster speed i guess it will consume more,

car wont be driven into town,

or it will be in extremely rare not often, the main goal is reliability,

and RUST PROOF, and less issues problems,

exept the cat - steal i dont remember or i dont know any other problem with ct200 for example their EPS - i hope is good not like 8 th of accord failing all the time, , about cat locks criminals can remove even cat lock so no warranty, and since insurance doesnt cover it, it will be just luck i dont have private garage or parking space to place the car so it will be into the streets.

i have seen 8th gen in 30-40k miles cars with full service book accords with some rust so its not rust free unfortunately...

  14. Greetings,

you can still get accord if u live in the USA

or if u import the car from Abroad for EU its discontinued - probably lack of sales i assume i have drive my old accord for more 12 years and even new ones have rust issues,

So i wonder Does LEXUS have better rust protection have anyone with ct200h have any rust at all ? I have seen Accord from same year 2011 or up with some small rust already thats why...

  15. I do understand that its little bit hard to compare but They cost on the used market almost the same even honda is little cheaper,

and yes lexus is a hybrid, but in highway driving honda can give u around 6litres per 100ml fuel consumption and lexus will give u around 5.5 or something, depends how fast you drive it.

also both cars have simular suspension, lexus uses compact double wishbone honda uses non compact since its larger car. both engines uses chain cam,

of course honda can be ordered manual, why lexus only auto,

i am more worried in terms of rust, is lexus better in rust protection than honda or.  also honda cats were never stolen and lexus ones - i got friend who last week CAT CONVERTOR was stolen so...

its little nightmare with these cats...

  16. Does LEXUS CT200H have better rust protection compared to honda accord ??

one major issue with ct200h is that cats are stolen like crazy in every country in the world. which is huge and expensive problem insurance where i live doesnt cover that.. no option to cover it either....

  17. Hi people, which car do you think is better since i am considering getting either one of these two,

lexus is way more hard or impossible to find where i live , i should bring it from abroad,

accord is more popular i am talking about 8 th generation european accord not improrted from usa.

That accord is made from 2007 till 2013  , tell me what do u think which is more reliable and which is better, accord is more roomy, ct200 is very tight in the rear seats...

i think the results from what car speak for themselves

the germans are all in the 20 - 30 positions

    what car reliability.jpg

From this post we see - lexus brand in general not specially for ct200h - which is same as toyota auris - with few more extras/options 🙂 and systems...

so is the suspension made of  steel/metal or aluminum 🙂 ?
