My LC is coming up 3 years old and I had it serviced at the main dealer a couple of weeks ago. They told me I would receive my 1 Year Relax Warranty document direct from Lexus.

Could someone confirm what document you get and how long it took to arrive.

    Many thanks.

    A J.

I received an email confirming I had a 1 year warranty. No documents as such, just an email.

The cynic is coming out of me now. How or Why would any company start giving away potentially millions of ££££ in free warranties.

I've read the T's & C's on the Lexus website and it does read that way. I just can't get my head around it. They're literally giving every new car now a 10 year warranty absolutely free of charge (even though you must service at a Lexus Dealership, which you had to anyway)

I've checked the date and it doesn't say 1st April. Am I being too cynical for my own good?

I suggest that the value or re-acquiring servicing for vehicles 3 to 10 years old vastly outweighs the cost of the relatively few people that pay to extend their warranty

  3. I think for us (LC owners) it's a no-brainer. I can see that those with older models will see an increase in servicing costs. I guess Toyota/Lexus see the potential uplift in service fees will outweigh the loss of extended warranty fees. I 'm sure they have some research which tells them how many customers take out the extended warranty.

Interesting to see in the T&C's that "any replaced parts become the property of Lexus"..... !

I have had my LC500 for 3 weeks now, coming from a 991 Carrera S and previous F Type. Thought I would share my first thoughts. Bought the car from Lexus Guildford, 2018 with only 12k on the clock. Test drove drove a C63S before the LC but ultimately although a great noise and engine it did not seem special enough outside a normal AMG C class. Audi R8 V10 not at my price point yet.

The LC won it for me with the engine / looks, I had to scratch the V8 itch before these are extinct. Love the fact it is two cars in one, comfortable cruiser or muscle car dependant on mood / conditions. It really does sound great once wound up although with all the rain I have only had a couple of dry outings. I specifically wanted the stealth look and found the black on black I wanted, at the time it was the only one around and had the Levinson and HUD.

Never had so many people comment when out, either nice car or what is it. The infotainment is not as bad as the press reviews would make out, yes its not intuitive but once set up I do not need to change much, just wish the climate was simpler and Apple Car play was a retro fit.

The Mark Levinson is the best stereo I have had in any car, when not booting it, this is a great sound to listen to. Interior is of a very high quality. The alloys are a bit bling for me but work with the car and no choice, just hope I don't kerb them.

Car has had the fuel pump recall done before purchase and today I found I had the stuck fuel cap whilst trying to fill up, perfect! Call to local dealer, parts on back order, with 1 other customer and will be replaced Monday. Until then need to fill up with 2 people......

Small known issue just hope this is the first and last as I sold the Porsche due to two major water leaks in a year and lost confidence in the car.

Apart from this really enjoying it, be interesting to see how bad the depreciation over years 3-5. Alex.

Pretty much exactly the same story for me Larry. Tried a few options, M8, C63 etc. Every time I see mine and get in I am reminded that I made the best decision. Mine is one of the first 2017 models with HUD & ML so no recalls but still have sticky filler cap. A little WD40 and a quick practice before leaving home seems to avoid the forecourt embarrassment.

Having had my V8 for nearly a year I decided to use my nearest dealer to carry out the major service(£625) and combine it with the fuel pump recall which first got mentioned back in February.

I spoke to the service manager at Listers Lincoln and he arranged for the  recall parts and service to be sorted.I have not used this dealer since it first opened around 2007 when they serviced my IS250. Some of the staff remain. At that time it was a new, dedicated,Lexus site but since then they have had to share with Toyota making a very small facility.

On arrival, the service team introduced me to the Master Tech who advised what they would be doing and checking if I wanted anything else looked at.

The car was ready later the same day and again the Master Tech came out to explain the work and warn there would be a slight whiff of petrol as the rear seat comes out to access the tank.

Despite these difficult times,I think Lincoln Lexus did the very best to make the process easy and efficient. They will ,apparently, shortly be extending the showroom and getting the latest Lexus fit out which I experienced at other dealerships when choosing this car last year.

Anyway, credit where its earned .

    A J.

Had my service last year in the first lockdown, and deferred mot just last week. Both at Lincoln. Very happy with service and arrangements for customers.

This error has just come up on my sat nav screen , a blue strip across the top of the screen.

its booked in for Friday, they are going to do the latest  update to MM19, and reset the screen neither of witch i think will solve the problem.

i think it will need a new screen, the problem is the car is out of warranty, i didn't extend the warranty as the car only travels around 2,500 miles a year, it will be interesting to see what they say.

    IMG_1713.jpeg

forgive my ignorance but that looks like the horizon in 3D map view. do you have the blue line on the menu screen?

Has any owners had problems with the petrol cap sticking? I have now passed on my 500 Coupe (replaced it with convertible) to a family member who has now experienced the problem. The cap did stick when I first bought the vehicle but cleared it with WD40, not a good example for this very expensive car.

    cheers

    steve

Seem to have solved my sticky flap with a bit of WD40 too....

Bought my first ever Lexus yesterday from Lexus Leicester a LC500 Sport + and drove the long way home to Cheshire, a very enjoyable experience.

Love the car but surprised it didn’t have wireless phone charging.

Now that’s impressive. I pride myself on getting very good mpg figures from all our cars but that is going to take some beating.

We we’re thinking of a similar trip at some time but were  not sure about some of the roads,eg surface and width, going by some comments on another forum.
    A J.

Yes, I know what you mean. Although there were a couple of sections of single track with passing places, we deliberately stuck to A roads where possible. Road quality? Some roughness, similar to our Lincolnshire roads, don’t remember any potholes at all 🙂

Yes, very good. I only manage about 29mpg on a good long run. Did you check this by brim-to-brim measurement or is this from the car's readout? I have had mine since Feb 18 and my real (measured by actual litres and mileage) mpg overall has been 24.6. The car computer gives about 4% to 5% better mileage than actual.

Entirely unscientific Malcolm, just the onboard reading. I will say that we planned on fuelling around £50 per day when £40 filled to the brim.

  11. Feeling fulfilled and, if I'm honest, slightly smug - first let me tell you a story...

It was a dark and stormy night, well actually it was last November when I bought my LC, just couldn't wait for the good weather, just had to buy it!
We always enjoy a great road trip and our favourite destination is Scotland. You can imagine how much we were looking forward to talking the LC for a tour.
Finally, last week we managed to get away, I have to say it was amazing, taking a true GT across mountain passes and straight open roads.

We covered just over 1200 miles, not quite the NC500 but all the places we love none the less.
As you can imagine, with a car needing regular fill ups, we planned a little to make sure we weren't caught short.
Previous we hadn't bothered so much as we've toured around in a diesel BMW....

So we planed for 20/25 mpg based on fairly spirited driving, which we did.
Imagine my surprise when the final average for the whole trip came out at - wait for it - 35.5mpg, even reaching 39.1mpg on one of the days.

So, as well as having a wonderful time roaring through the Glens in a big and soulful V8, we even saved on our fuel budget - can't wait for our next road trip.

Fellow LC500 V8 owners, I'm curious what petrol you're all putting into your cars. I note the the manual states to use 98 RON fuel, so technically that rules out standard "premium" unleaded and leaves us with BP Ultimate, Shell V-Power and Tesco Momentum 99 (that I am aware of, at least where I am).

I'm coming up to filling my tank for the first time and don't have a local Shell that isn't a pricey services, so that leaves me BP or Tesco. I'm leaning towards Tesco at the moment to be honest. Thoughts?

I use Premium 95 RON in mine, never tried the 98 RON.

I think the notice means more in USA as they have the sub-premium unleaded which we don’t get in UK

What mileage have your tyres done?

Like you,I found run flats on BMWs to be poor, but I have to say that the Dunlop’s on my 21 inch wheels have been surprisingly compliant and comfortable. If I were renewing now for any reason I would stick with the same.No idea what they cost or how easy they are to source.

    Cheers,

    A J.

    Thanks AJ,
I’m still on the original Pilot Sport after 7k
Which Dunlop’s are you on? I haven’t seen runflat Dunlop’s for sale anywhere, just seems to be Pirelli or Michelin.

  14. ...that is the question...

So, in the not too distant future I’m going to need new tyres.
I had previously changed my BMW to standard tyres resulting in less noise and better ride.
I’m tempted to do the same for my LC 500 (21” wheels)

Has anyone swapped their run flats to standard tyres?
    Any recommendations?
Which inflation kit do you carry?

    Thanks

So i'm thinking about getting a second lexus for my driveway and still having fond memories of my IS-F i'm looking at the LC.

What I was looking for is any details of model changes since release? I know there are some changes to engine performance due to emissions but was their anything more significant - other than colour options?

I think they retuned the suspension, changed some parts etc. They also remapped the gearbox software. I’m sure someone else here Knows whether the changes are noticeable in the real world. Perhaps try some test drives? I know Nottingham Lexus have a 2020 Sport +

lol MNMJ if only I could afford both, not seen many deals around yet!!!!!!

I bought mine because I want head-turning rarity, reliability, comfort, quiet touring and a full on naturally aspirated symphony when wanted. I tried several options, DB11, AMG GT, R8, E63, M5, etc, the R8 was the only one I found came close. Biggest problem for me was driving turbo engines at slower speeds, it’s just not enjoyable whereas the LC works everywhere.

On auto trader there are 112 AMG GT’s post 2017 for sale and only 22 LC’s, and some of them are hybrid! Says it all for me.

Wouldn't change my LC except perhaps for a Bentley GT...

i think the uk law has always been that the exhaust shouldnt be louder than OEM, but ive never had any of my modified cars fail an MOT - unless the exhaust is blowing, or fails emmisions.
There is also no law stating that you must use OEM products if you replace an exhaust for repair....well Mr MOT man Sir, my OEM had a hole in it, and i replaced it wit this one.
So, this leaves a kind of grey area of proving grounds. But, its obviously well known aftermarket = louder! lol.

Hey chaps, my understanding is that when the new emissions regulations came in which stopped many manufacturers building petrol car, mostly the Germans, Lexus also had to comply. The tell tale sign is moving from 471bhp to 464bhp. A simple check on the detail spec of your car will tell you if you have one with reduced BHP cause by complying with the newest regulations

check your V5 document bottom of the left hand column vehicle details. If it says 351Kw you have a pre regulations car. If it says 346kw you have a post regulations car which has the addition filters etc.

    hope that helps...

Seems my car is also on the list.

My supplying dealer confirmed that there is no detail yet of the rectification but I should receive a letter from Lexus soon.

Mine in a late 2017, just tried the recall checker and it’s saying everything is fine. I wonder if the was a minor update between 2017 and 2018?

Yes. I was told by my local dealer a couple of weeks ago that all models from MY2017 onwards will have Apple Car Play retrofitted, as long as they have the Premium Nav system (the wide screen version) - this would include the LC. Dates had not yet been confirmed but they were hoping for October/November.

    Hi Mark,

Great to hear from an LC owner not far from me. I am in the Wolds quite near Horncastle so it would be good to meet up sometime. With friends I regularly visit Cadwell Park ,which is up the road, just to watch track days and get coffee etc.

The only LC I have seen in our county are the white and red demos from Lincoln and a yellow one with a distinctive plate which I assume is the Hull demo.

We have had a number of BMW and until last year used Soper in Lincoln but our last 3 in the family have come from Marshall’s in Grimsby.Like you,I considered the 850 but fell for the LC. Even in Hybrid form I liked it but the V8 is just glorious.

The discounting from BMW is crazy and makes a mockery of list prices.

Not sure which dealer to use for servicing and possible warranty work.Lincoln is the nearest but seems quite small.Have you been to them yet?

Hoping to see more content on this forum and as I keep saying, cannot understand why these cars are not bigger sellers when compared to rivals. They are amazing as you say!

    AJ.

    Hi AJ,

Yes, likewise, I’m based just on the north side of Lincoln and regularly go to Cadwell Park. In fact I’m a volunteer marshal there in race season.
Like you, I’ve seen the white demo at Lincoln and the yellow one at Hull. Just recently Lincoln had a red hybrid too.

The only one I’ve seen on the road was a silver hybrid in Gainsborough.
i agree, it’s amazing there aren’t more. I guess most people just like to conform.

i struggled with the BMW pricing policy, seems like a lottery. I also just got tired of tech for tech sake - why on earth do we need five ways to change the radio volume...

Re servicing, I know the crew at Lincoln very well, for me, the epitome of Lexus service.
i know the dealer principle, James, very well so if you would like an intro let me know.

Like you, my filler flap sticks, I just pop it open at home to loosen it before going to fill up - saves embarrassment.
i also wiped the mechanism with paper towel impregnated with fine oil. Seems to be ok at the moment.

is your LC your daily driver?
