Lexus GS450H just got the P0017 fault code. I am LED to believe this means a stretched timing chain. I am yet to check for the minor things like sensors.
A timing chain kit from Lexus is quite expensive (including tensioners and gaskets).
Any recommendations on where I can get a cheaper, OEM quality timing chain kit?
Thank you

I am sorry but I do not understand what that is. How do I test it?

Hi all,Lexus GS450H hybrid Battery trouble. So I’ve spent time this year rebuilding my faulty hybrid Battery (not a job I’d recommend doing as a DIY - give it to an expert!)Battery rebuilt and back in the car. Had a temp sensor fault and service plug/ isolator fault which are now both fixed.I am not getting a fault code P3004-131. I’m not sure what it is but I see here that someone had a similar issue."When I try to start the car I hear a click coming from the trunk and the ready light would flash for two seconds and then it would just go away"I have this same thing. The dashboard flashes ready twice but still the car won’t start. What is the GS450H equivalent of the part replaced in the link above and how do I change it??Thank you.

The oil pressure switch is on the top of the oil filter housing by the front engine pulley.
There is plenty of room in that area between the radiator and the engine, but it could be mounted anywhere as long as it is mounted vertically.
If you remove the front wheel arch liner there is lots of unused space behind it. You can use a metal pipe from the container if it is positioned some distance from the oil pressure switch as long as you have a flexible hose from it to the oil pressure "T" to allow for engine movement. There is no reason why you cannot make the system work seamlessly. It will just take a little thought. Using an ignition on feed should work as there is a delay in the engine starting after going to ready mode, but you must use a timer to turn off the feed after a reasonable on time to allow oil to circulate, and then the solenoid to close to facilitate the container filling with oil under pressure, and hold it. Using the oil pressure switch it's self to do this might work well.
John.
Going to try to have a go at installing this but I really want something seamless and without the manual operation.
Does anyone have any thoughts / ideas on how to wire this up to power it automatically?

Just an update - the car was still misbehaving a bit. It turned out that the faulty injectors were dumping fuel into the crankshaft (I believe?) and the oil was a bit contaminated. This in turn would foul the spark plugs.
An oil change was required as well and now the car is running well after 250 miles.- 3

No that is fine, just wondered what a garage would charge.
About 3 hours Labour is reasonable. Hope that helps.

Good news! Do you mind me asking what they charged to do that? Independent or Lexus garage?
It was done by a friend and I got a good price. Can pass on details if you need them and after running it by him.

Had the injectors replaced today and the car seems to be running fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thank you all for your contributions.

If it fails again, DO NOT TOW it to your mechanic. Damage can be caused to the Hybrid/ generator system. Hybrid driving wheels need to be off the road if towed. Refer to your handbook.
It was lifted on a flatbed. Poor choice of language on my part. Thank you

All,
Very sorry for not coming back to any of you on this. I expected to get email notification when someone replies to my post and I did not so I thought no one had responded.
@Herbie - Thank you for people updated
And thank you all for your suggestions.
Current state of affairs is as follows:
The car was towed to a mechanic who replaced a spark plug and cleaned the fuel injectors to clear the deposits within them (soaked and backfed them in his words). The car ran fine for maybe 50-100 miles and then started to misfire again. We have decided to replace all the fuel injectors. I have bought used fuel injectors from an eBay seller in Lithuania (will take a few weeks to arrive, if anyone knows a quicker way please shout) because new ones cost a fortune. Once the new injectors are in we should be ok.
Thank you again.

Hi All,
I hope you are keeping well and safe during these difficult times.
I have a lexus 2006 GS450h which was showing a hybrid Battery fault.
I have managed to get the hybrid Battery out and strip it down and get to the individual cells. All cells are showing similar voltage around 7.8 volts.
I have decided to attempt to balance the Battery and bought an IMAX B6 for the job.
I made the following settings on my IMAX -
Dischage and then charge (2 cycles)
Discharge rate - 1 amp
Charge rate - 5 amp
Charge to 7500mah (my understanding is that 6500 is the capacity but some energy is lost as heat)
safety cut off timer 720mins
I attempted to balance my first cell yesterday and left it for around 9 hours, checking on it periodically. It seemed to be charging and discharging correctly. At the end of the 9 hours I went to check on it and the device had frozen. I tried to cycle through the results but it only gave me results for half of a cycle and nothing else.
My cell had also swollen up quite a bit but after leaving it all switched off overnight the cell seems to have shrunk again.
Any ideas on how properly to use the IMAX B6? I got it from eBay and am now wondering if the device is faulty. It's more likely to be user error though!
I used this youtube guide (see 15:48 time stamp for how I set up my IMAx) -

Whereabouts in the engine bay did you locate the secondary oil tank? And where is the oil pressure switch?
im looking at doing this to my own car. I’m thinking to wire it to the fuel pump or something else that primes and receives power when the car is unlocked. I’m looking for a seamless startup.

I shall shortly be doing a write up on how to make your own pre-lube system for about £25 complete. They are available as a kit from the US for £250 up.
Basically it is an inverted pressure container with a one way solenoid valve at it's inlet. Oil fills the container under normal engine oil pressure while the engine is running, and held there. Before you start the engine the solenoid is opened, and the oil is pushed round the engine filling it with oil before the engine starts.
A lot of Toyota Lexus models suffer with this rattle at startup. Sometimes changing the grade of oil seems to cure the problem other times not. The Lexus cure for the problem is to change the VVT gears for only a lot of money, and then it's not guaranteed the noise will not come back.
John.
this is very interesting. Did you do the write up? I would like to do this to my own car.
P0017 - recommendation on where to get a timing chain kit?

Thank you for this. I have just recently discovered Rockauto. The prices seem to good to be true!
The problem I am having is that I do not know all of the part numbers. I need a full kit including the gaskets.
Does anyone know the part numbers?
