  1. Alex will give you a ring Friday, would love some pics, robnlol@aol.com  sounds good

I am off work this weekend so may be able to come and see it if we can arrange something.

  2. Hi I am looking for a good 430 to buy, must have FULL service history and be in tip top condition with cream leather,

would prefer a later car with low mileage. but this is not as important as the condition.

I have no preference as far as colour goes as long as bodywork is all original and good.

thought I would try on here as am sick of looking at dealers "immaculate" rubbish.

So if any of you guys are considering parting with your pride and joy I would certainly be interested

    Regards Bob

  3. Hi my ls430 has developed a weird symptom, when driving at high speed e.g. motorways and I go over a rough bit of road the car is stotting about quite alarmingly, other than this it is behaving as normal. but as I say on rough stretches of road it is a two handed job to keep hold of it.

just wondered if anybody had any ideas as to what could be causing this. thanks in advance Bob.

Hi guys just an update on this situation,

had the car in at my Lexus dealer and it turns out drivers rear suspension had collapsed so several hundred squids later all sorted and back to the way she was, cannot believe I drove all the way home from Belgium with it like this. according to the guy at Lexus the drivers side rear sphere was shot and had to be replaced, and on the invoice it was down as "replaced rear air suspension unit" at a cost of £635.37 + vat. a lot of cash I know but this is also a lot of car and I wouldn't swap it for anything. thanks for your help guys

  5. Could anyone tell me if it is normal for the LS gearbox to use a bit of transmission fluid. I have run the car daily for 6 months and the level has gone down from halfway between empty and full to the lower level mark in approx 8000 miles. It is due to be replaced but i am just a bit worried that this is not normal and this is an indication that something is wrong.

many thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

  6. just recently my ls400 97 has developed a miss on one of the cylinders and am wondering if this could be down to plugs have only had the car 6month and a service is due shortly. or could it be something else any ideas on what to check ? thanks.

  7. could anyone tell me what tyre pressures i should use for 225/55/r17 97w as the book that came with the car has pressures only for 16" wheels. any help would be appreciated. the car is an LS400 1997.

    thanks bob.

  8. hi bob

it is the only thing with autos with the engine revs are picked up when cold it will jump in the gear but when warm it does the same just not so bad mine does the same when ever i can i take the foot off the brake as i put it in gear it gives the jerk a little less

Mine does it too, that's why you cannot shift from park without your foot on the brake pedal, mine accelerates without touching the throttle pedal at cold idle.

Wait for the ice and snow that's when the fun begins if you don't have traction control! ( fortunately my import does)

    Steve.

thanks for that guy's i have'nt had a lot of dealings with auto's and just wondered if this was normal and yes i can see it being a lot of fun in the winter

    regards bob.

  9. hi all,

have just bought my first ls400 WOW! absolutely fantastic car, cannot believe how good these vehicles are.

I have one question if any of you could throw any light on it, when started from cold and the engine is ticking over a bit faster than when warm and i engage drive with the brake applied the car try's to lurch forward quite strongly, no clunk's or anything but quite a severe lurch against the brakes is this normal?. i expect a little more of a surge because of the increase in rev's and the softness of suspension but this really is to my mind quite exessive. once the car has run for a few min's and the rev's drop everything is normal and this does not happen. As i say i dont know if this is just because of the strength of the V8 or if something is needing adjustment but any opinions would be welcome.

    thanks bob.

oop's think i've managed to post this in the wrong section sorry.

  10. can anyone tell me what sort of milage you could expect to get out of the is200 engine before major surgery was required assuming all relevent servicing was kept up.

just wondered as mines coming up 100k now with full lexus history

    thanks bob

  11. hope some of you guy,s can reasure me i,me doing the right thing. i,me just about to buy an ls400 93 plate 134k full lexus history and EVERYTHING works, its my first lexus and have been digesting your site for a few weeks now. the only thing i ca,nt find much about is the reliability of the auto boxes on high milers and having had problems with auto boxes in the past am looking for a little reasurrance off the people who will know, i.e. the guys who run them so any help on this matter would be much appreciated. many thanks in advance, bob.
