  1. Hi Phillip. I have the same model Lexus and am having a similar problem to you, with the car revving. Thought it was a clutch problem, but had this checked and it's not. Have noticed that this revving does not occur when the air conditioning is switched off. Have had the car for a year and it has only just started doing this. Have recently had the cam belt changed.

Does anyone have an answer to this problem?

    Thanks. :D

  2. Hi there. Whilst driving recently, have noticed when changing low gears normal driving speed, when clutch is pressed in the engine carries on reving for a short while. Thought there was a problem with the clutch slipping, took it to the garage, mechanic checked it over and said clutch ok. He told me to turn air conditioning off and see if it still happened. Drove home, 5 miles with AC off and it didn't happen. Has anyone else noticed this? :D

  3. cambelt can be looked at by removing the upper cambelt cover, from memory, 5 bolts, all 10mm

as for the noise, im not sure, fairly hard to diagnose over the net, is it only when cold........or as the car is warming up?

    Thanks for that.

The noise seems to happen for the first few minutes when the car is cold, also happens when the car is slowing down.

  4. Hi there. Can anyone help a damsel in distress? There is a very strange noise which seems to come from under the car, or the back of the dashborad, when the engine is cold, when it is revved up or when you pull away in first gear. It is very hard to describe this noise but it sounds like a crunching/squelching, a bit like driving over gravel. Doesn't last very long, but is quite loud. When I first heard it a few weeks ago I thought there was a twig stuck under the car, but there wasn't. You can't hear it under the bonnet when it happens, we have already checked that one.

    Come on boys any ideas????

Can I ask another question?? Is is possible to check the condition of the cambelt without removing half of the engine?

    Thanks :winky:

  5. :duh: We have a Lexus IS200. Has anybody experienced problems with front wheel bearings. We seem to have a speed related noise coming from the front wheel. The local garage we use thinks it's the wheel bearing, they have rung round and no one can supply one. Is this a common problem, car has done 90,000. Can anyone help please. :D

  6. Having just purchased a Lexus IS200se, can anyone tell me if parking lights means the same as side lights, as there is no mention of side lights in the manual. When the switch is clicked once the back lights come on but not the front and the bulbs are not blown. Can anyone help.
