So I've been getting some juddering in acceleration the last few months. Almost always when cruising at 60-70 at around 2.5k revs, foot just touching the accelerator.
I thought this was down to the dpf regen getting interrupted. But since yesterday I've been getting a loud tapping noise when idling. Also the idle revs are fluctuating.
Checked under the bonnet today and there is white smoke coming from the circled bit in the pic. The tapping you can hear when the camera is close to the injector is a lot louder in person.
I've got a mechanic friend coming to look at it next week but thought I'd get your opinions

It's an is220d 2006. Also recently had to clean the egr after going into limp mode.
