It my experience of Lexus steering wheel motors (they have two) the squealing often precedes failure of a motor.  It may be worth spraying some silicone lubricant around the mechanism to see if it helps but I would expect a motor is telling you its had enough.  I've always been convinced that the motors fail mostly because it's convenient to grab the steering wheel getting out of the car, and because it moves fairly slowly a lot of pressure is put on the motors.

  2. Hi Guys. I am hoping I can sort this problem myself. Recently when the steering wheel retracts or moves forward after putting the key in or out of ignition. I am getting a squeaking sound When it moves in or out. Like it needs lubricating?

If I put a downward or upward force on the steering wheel it as it moving the noise stops and stays that way for rest of the day but it does return. Has anyone had the same issue in the past and how was it sorted please. Many Thanks Guys

  3. Hi Guys. I need to cover my SC430 when it's not being used. As I have no garage I was thinking of an all weather portable cover for it. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good one with soft lining to prevent scratching the car I should look at ? Thanks very much

  4. Just very curious about what the reason is behind the colours codes for each of the 4 TPMS sensors. If you are buying 4 of them they would be Gold, Red, White and Blue.

Or the same individual colour to replace same colour in the vehicle. I am buying all 4 colours as it happens but I am very very curious as to why this is so?

    Thanks

  5. Hi Everyone. I am new to owning an 2005 SC430 and immediately joined here for knowledge and news etc. My question is about TPMS. The standard wheel on my car is the 5 Dark Chrome star insert on the 5 spoke wheel. I want to buy a new set of these and sensors but I am finding info on the Lexus Sensors hard to understand, ie why are they colour coded and could you actually use re-programmable AUTEL MX sensors instead (far cheaper). Any and all advice is super welcome. Thanks

  6. Hi Bob. Thanks for your reply. It looks like yours are more chrome coloured than mine and lighter shade too. Mine are almost anthracite with a chrome face.

I think mine perhaps have been sprayed before as I have seen your colour on web site a lot. I am am a bit confused now.

  7. I am hoping some knowledgeable members has done this to their SC wheels. I want to get my 5 star wheel centres 100% condition by getting them resprayed. But I am struggling to find the correct colour for them. Its a sort of dark chrome colour. I don't want " a near enough colour" I really want the Lexus colour. No Dealers were prepared to help me. I think they want to sell me brand new ones. Thanks a lot guys

  8. Hi Everyone. I need to buy new Screen washer nozzles for my SC430. My Lexus main dealer seems to be having trouble sourcing them from LEXUS, Maybe its because they come in Body colour, so in my case thats Millennium Silver. Any ideas where else i can try ? Thanks

  9. Hi. I am thinking of changing my Petrol filter, I have been online and cant find any Videos etc. Am I right in thinking that its located inside the Fuel Tank Like in Many Toyotas?

If so is a Royal pain in the ..... to change for a DIYer ? Thanks

  10. Hi. I have been given 2 colour codes for SC430 (face lift model) wheels from a Lexus dealer in Swindon UK. He was not sure which code were for which part of the wheel so i went online and found the following. The 2 codes I was given are: 11GY08 & 11CR18. The 11GY08 is Platinum which is obviously the silver colour part of the wheel.  However 11CR18, I could not find out what colour this is, but I am thinking its the Chrome Charcoal wheel centre colour  ( CR could be Chrome)

If anyone here can find out what this code is, we may have cracked it!!! OR If anyone knows a bodywork specialist he could maybe find this out easily.

  11. Hi. I have been helped so much with my SC430 on this owners club to date. You have Sorted me out so well. Thanks Guys. I want to do as much home maintenance on my SC430 as possible, I have no service manual and to buy one from USA seems to expensive and it seems no Haynes manual was ever printed here? Is there anywhere i can find a list of the most common Torques settings on the net  such as brakes, shocks sump plugs etc that I may be able to use one day ? Thanks very much

Hi Alan, that looks very good but if you have a suitable laptop, seriously consider following Nick's advice and look at Toyota Techstream and a VCI cable. It's Lexus/Toyota specific software.

I've never heard of a PAS pulley 'coming off'' before, that sounds quite a dramatic fail.

    Hi Neil.

Only had the car 3-4 months not used much due to lock downs etc. When I was driving the other day All of a sudden the steering was almost impossible to turn the S/wheel and the Battery light came on. Managed to get home and called the AA, they took it to my local Garage who told me that the nut holding the was missing and the Pulley was laying in the tray beneath the Front of the Engine/Radiator. They need to get a nut from Lexus and I asked for a new belt to be fitted at same time. I have not got car back yet, maybe tomorrow. Regarding a Laptop. I dont use one. I have an apple Mac desktop computer. I just think a Tablet size scanner will be easier to read (with my old eyes) and save me a bit of money hopefully, so pay for its self eventually.

    £470 sounds expensive.

The OBD2 port is under the dash, below and to the right of the steering column it has a plastic cover that you simply unclip.

Thank you Neil. I will check it when it comes aback from repairs. ( the Power steering Pulley came off so having it done in local Garage.) I was going for a good one with good review, partly because I have never used one before so Green as grass. Is this one a good one?

    Thanks

Hi. I had a similar problem with my SC which had been unused for a while before I bought it last summer. A liberal dosing of WD 40 between mirror and its bracket did the trick. Good luck - and enjoy

Hi Andrew. Thanks for your help. I sprayed the mirror housing (Blindly) with WD40 and left for a few days to do it's thing. Tried it yesterday and low and behold Magic it worked as sweet as a nut. Perfect, Thanks very much for helping me sort this out

  15. Hi Guys. I am new here and late last year purchased a 55 reg SC430. During my short ownership its has developed a few problems. One of which is frustrating. It's the N/S door mirror, it folds inwards ok, but will not go back to the driving position like the Drivers mirror does. I have to manually move it outwards and when there it is fine.

All  the other adjustments like up/down work great, as does the in/out adjustments. Its just the folding part which is playing up 90% of the time ( it does work 10% of the time)

Does anyone know if if this user fixable or is it beyond our skill level to correct? I am much obliged for any help or suggestions that could help me. Thanks
