  1. After 18 months and 22k miles her's my thoughts of the Lexus NX. It's quiet, extremely comfy, quality. No creaks/rattles, it feels brand new. Fuel economy using 97octane is 40mpg (a couple more that the 1.5 eco dsg of a tiguan i had previous), with a gentle right foot but mostly duel carriageway driving. 10 speaker stereo good, but could do with a bit of bass from the subwoofer (never heard it). Great lights on dipped beam with the bi-LEDs. Only really 3 things that slightly annoyed were the volume button on wheel, 50 taps to turn it up, and the auto wipers don't seem to be clever at all (far worse than any other car i've had), and a bit more boot space would have been good. Overall a fantastic car. So good in fact that when i had a 23 NX for the day i thought the new model was a disappointment. Sure it was a bit quicker and the fuel economy better, but it seemed like a nice Toyota, not a Lexus. So... I found a good deal on a 22 RX 450h Premium Sport Edition (the PCP is much CHEAPER than a new NX, due to offers as it's a run out model) that looks even more amazing. Hopefully it will be like an NX plus. Looking forward to it 🙂

Cheers for reply Richard, but that's the issue in IOS 15 navigation and guidance isn't there 🤪 There are loads in maps but nothing about volume. In my partner's Ios 14, absolutely that's where i would have gone.

Maybe that's why i couldn't find it either, so had to revert to the Iphone settings 🙂

  3. Second hand values have gone UP weirdly (my wife and son's 2yr old cars and have 2k equity on them already), so now is a good time to trade it in, if you're planning a new car on pcp. The NX will be replaced at the end of the year (stock/build dependant) but will likely be over 40k for the same specs as the current car. You will get a new model, better economy and power, and a safer one too, but i'd guess PCP will be about £100-£150 dearer/month as such good discounts at the moment. Plus the dreaded luxury road tax will kick in, which will negate the fuel economy benefits. Either way, you'll get a fine car.

^^ My first NX had Tahara, my current has leather. I’d agree about the quality and comfort, but not the smell. In hot weather mine smelt quite ‘plasticky’ almost like cars from the 1970s with plastic seats! However, that only affected it on really hot days.

Have to be honest, I’ve never been a great fan of leather upholstery - I prefer good quality cloth - but having an NX with either Tahara or real leather is fine. Very little to choose between them.

Not had the hot weather yet as a) only had a car a couple of months and it's only spring and b) i live in northern Scotland so we don't get hot weather lol

    Hmmmmm....

Had a premium sport while my RX was in the garage for the afternoon and absolutely loved it!

We were nailed on for the F sport/ Takumi pack, until my wife had a sit in one and shes not sure she will get on with the F Sport seats (she had nerve problems with her back) so now we will probably wait to test drive an F sport on 12th April. Love the look of the F Sport but might have to compromise.

Nothing ever goes smoothly for us!!!

Anyone have comfort problems with the F Sport seats or have we been spoilt in our RX and the courtesy car drive?

Thanks for all your input BTW

Got the Premium sport a month ago and the seats are fab. Compared to Tiguan I had the seats are slightly less sporty at the bottom, but pretty tight at the top, so i would say the "normal seats" are just fine, and give great comfort. Also the car is under 40k so cheaper tax (£140 i think a year), even if you spec metallic paint and the great value pano roof (£500). I think all you miss is the headlights (normal one are great on dipped, not too powerful on main beam), the sound amplifier, the sport+ setting, a few sportier bit on the outside, and you aforementioned seats. So, for the price difference and saving £325? tax a year the Premium Sport Edition is a wise purchase.

Im afraid braking in any car in slippery conditions is a difficult one ! . Xmode in the snow will do all of that thinking for you , but its down largely to your tyres . I have found that Michelin Cross climates meet most conditions , both summer and winter with good results . They are snowflake marked so can be used as a winter tyre in places where it is mandatory .

I reckon if I lived in Knocando thats what I would have ... A forester on Cross Climates .....................and of course a 12 bore to fend of the locals !!!!😎

I must admit i didn't drive the Forester as got a great deal on a Lexus, so i went for that. Thanks for the advice on the Michelins, i'll get them at the end of the year. And enjoy the Scooby 🙂

No John .Subaru are totally their own design . They have an equal 4 wheel drive distribution system which is really good in offroad and snow /ice with the right tyres of course. They also have an X Mode which works to assist the traction . Having experience in both I would highly recommend them for those in harshish environments.

They dont have the Lexus name , but far superior for rougher terrain driving .

They are very nice machines to drive as well .

I like the Subaru but wanted the premium feel of the Lexus, and also if I can manage the normal commute in a 2wd then the additional kick of AWD when needed should be all that I need for traction. It’s more braking. Is the Forester a CVT box? If so any tips for driving one would be appreciated 👍

Get a subaru forester .............. best car I ever had in the snow . 4 wheel drive (2+2) on CRV is not bad either ,I was at Kinloss so know what the weather up there is like . All round I would go for a forester with Michelin Cross Climates (superb in winter and great in summer as well )

All the IS200 . IS250 ,GS450h . were all crap in winter ice and snow . The SC I have now is only a summer car so will not use it in snow .

FORGET the badge and get a car suitable for the type of weather you WILL meet .The forester is a real nice vehicle to drive and just as prestige's as the lower runabouts like the NX

Managed with 2wd and winters so far (about 20 years up here) but use the gears and the engine to brake a lot, so I’ll be happy with the NX for the flat and uphill, just wondering about the downhill bits! 😂

  9. I'm getting an NX soon, and i live in rural(ish) Scotland. Plan A is to get all season tyres for next winter as use them all the time. What I'm interested is the engine braking performance of the hybrid. The car will have "flappy paddles" so hopefully i'll be able to use virtual gears to slow down a bit without using the pedals. Any thoughts on this?
