  1. my problem started when the 12v battery failed during lockdown, during a very wet time.(I understand there were several cases at that time). 're setting did not clear the problem . I believe that water /damp affected the motors circuit board, which was exposed to climate. Water may have penetrated through the bolt hole on the left side holding the back door hinge. There is no cover to the circuit board. Lexus claim the motor failed, but the problem was intermittent. I believe it is a design fault. I changed the car.
  2. Forget the welding. I think the leak is coming from the PBD gear fixing bolt, which is hidden under the black plastic moulding. Regards Ted
  3. Re: Power Back Door (Tailgate) not working on 2010 (Series 3) RX450h Edward Oubridge Sun 28/03/2021 20:07  To: Lexus Owners Club I have noticed water under the 12v battery it seems to be dripping from the tailgate door hinge housing. On investigation the external gully at the top of the tailgate is clogged with leaf debris. I cleared it and found that the join of the roof body panel on both sides to the rear panel weren't welded. water is clearly entering the car at that area. This in my mind looks like a manufacturing error. My car is a rx 450h 2012 model. I am looking to buy a 2017 model and I notice the roof body weld is now present and the body panel overlap is facing outward and away from the flow of water. Has anybody noticed the same? I have been unable to dry the area as yet. My trade in price is reduced by c £1200 the cost of a new PBD this seems unfair. 4. Lucky you, do you think your failure problem was caused by water or temperature ?
  5. Hi Vadim, seems a good deal you must let me know which Lexus dealer you use. I just been quoted £1615 to supply and fit by Lexus Tunbridge Wells. They also stated the part did not require a diagnostic check so when I mentioned code DTC u0230 he said it wasn't necessary. They also mentioned they had not had any other cars in with problem recently. All very odd. Cheers Ted
  6. Thanks, Jean-Christophe I will also try the hairdryer first. Pleased to here your sorted. Regards Ted
