  1. Hi. Anybody experienced your rx has wet passenger floor. Car has no sunroof. i cleaned the insides of side skirt, still wet when its raining. Not the whole carpet is wet, only an area the size of an A4 paper towards the side of footwell.
  2. Update... I tried the (in)famous knock sensor hack and it worked! Will buy me time to save up some money to replace both sensors and the harness.
  3. Tnx for your reply. I'll let someone have a look at it. I live in Ireland, not easy to find a good indie over here. Before the engine light issue, I went to 2 mechanics with years of experience for a quote to change the spark plugs. Both of them said they NEVER worked on that engine before! Needless to say I walked away...
  4. Tnx for the reply collinbarber, will let it idle for a few mins. I connected my very basic scanner and it gives me a p0330 code. Google says knock sensor...
  5. Hi. I bought a 05 RX300 two weeks ago. Was driving smooth until yesterday driving home from work. While overtaking a car , the engine light with the vsc light came on. I also noticed car is sluggish when accelerating after that. I'm fortunately off work, so today i cleaned maf sensor and throttle body. Disconnected the battery, reconnected and took the car for a drive. Old problem still there with a new problem. Now the car also idles very high @ around 1500-1700 rpm. Any help would be dearly appreciated. Cheers
  6. Tnx! Ye, tried all over in Ireland. Oem ones seems to be hard to find second hand. Will check eBay again. Cheers!
  7. Just an update: Took the car to mechanic this morning, ask him how much to fit tie rods(which i supply) and do tracking. 120 euros. I went and bought a ball joint tool(25euros) from the motor factor next door and did the job myself. Just counted the amount of turns when i removed the outer tie rod. Took car for a test drive, steering is nice and centre. I'll take the car for tracking @35euros. Tnx guys for all your input. Now looking for a silver front bumper bottom lip, bought car without it...
  8. Yessir! Wife throwing subtle hints of “you bought a lemon “. Told her the car going nowhere. Just a few small annoyances, overall a nice clean car.
  9. Yes guys, I think a ball joint splitter would have sorted the problem. Unfortunately all the shops are closed today and ordering online not an option since I need the car. The tracking has to be done anyway, so I think might as well take her to mechanic.
  10. Tnx for all replies. Sorry attempting to change the tie rods didn’t turn out that good for me. Almost everybody are using a special tool for the inner tie rod. Surprisingly, I managed to get it loose with my shifting spanner ( don’t know what it’s called in Europe😁) after bending back the washer. However, I could not for the life of me get the outer tie rod end out after loosening the 17 bold and removing the pin. Tried to hit it with a hammer but didn’t even budge. I finally conceded and reassembled everything. Need the car so taking it to the mechanic tomorrow.
  11. Thanks for all the replies. . Love my is250,was just unfortunate to buy one with a few minor/ annoying issues. I will be here pestering you with stupid questions and asking for your expertise. Hope you don't mind😊
  12. Tnx for your reply. I bought this car from a private seller, so will be futile to even attempt to get hold of this guy. I've braced myself to just fix the car myself and spare myself the stress of back and forth with the seller. You know how they change after they have your money...
  13. Hi all. I took my car for front wheel alignment , to fix slight off centre steering wheel position. The guy took me under the car(right front) to show me a slightly bend inner tie rod. The previous owner must have hit something. On test drive, i foolishly assumed it was just a matter of realignment. I was quoted a ridiculous amount and then decided to source the inner and outer tie rod ends myself and attempt to replace it myself. Here's my problem: I found many tutorials of replacing outer tie rod ends online but non on the inner tie rods. I'm just wondering what can i expect under the rubber booths. Do i need any special tools? Can someone give me as a novice some step by step of how to remove and replace the inner tie rod pls? The outer tie rod end replacement looks simple enough. I'm also aware that i have to do the tracking after replacing them. All help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers! In this pic you can see the bend on the thread section of the inner tie rod.
