  1. I recently got my 64 plate is300h for just over 11k with 74k on the clock, executive edition and I would have been looking another 1-2k and a year older to get the higher spec. Although it was very easy to add near 5k for extended warranty and service plan. That was from a lexus dealership so I'm sure I'm adding a premium for that alone.
  2. Picked it up and I'm extremely happy, First impressions: I need to learn how to work the infotainment system a bit more but didn't want to sit to long before leaving but my first wow was just how quiet it was when driving both around town and motorway, the Bmax sat at 3000rpm on a motorway and had a lot of road noise. Once I got my phone connected the audio system is a lot better then I expected so thank you Linus, I went in with super low expectations and it's much better then the Bmax system and I was happy with that - small things like being able to see the song currently playing is a great addition for me. Sat Nav has live traffic which i didn't expect so another plus. Seats are for more snug then I expected but once I'd got used to them I was very comfortable. I was told the seats were excellent condition but there is a little nick in the drivers seat but the salesman told me he would arrange for me to take it back and get it repaired - 180 mile round trip but hopefully it will be when things are open again and I'll happily spend a day in a coffee shop in Nottingham. He said he'll email me more info but still waiting. Got back and the tires look like they are covered in a dark liquid but after wiping looks like it's more of a dust, on all 4 wheels so hopefully not an issue, if it keeps happening after I've driven it a bit more I'll get in touch with the dealer just incase it's more than just road dirt or brake dust. CVT is nice and easy to drive, switched between the 3 modes on the way back and sport mode does still have a bit of lag but I have power now which I never did before. Im coming from a much more basic car so I am very happy, I can see where some people could pick fault but I'm not that sort of person, I drove back very comfortable in a lovely environment and when I had the chance enjoyed the bends more then I have in any car I've owned myself.
  3. Wow I've missed a lot while driving around all day 🙂 still planning to pick it up tomorrow at 1pm so excited to bring it back. I'll try address few comments that I can remember, I'm on my phone in bed so not the best way to type. I've been a metalhead since about 15 when I fell in love with Children of Bodom (RIP Alexi) I'm 36 in a couple of weeks so my hearing isn't too bad but I normally listen to music/audiobooks with a single cheap Bluetooth headphone on while at work so hearing is more important than outstanding quality. the Bmax was a zetec spec so quite basic, electric windows and heated front window were about the only luxury available I've never owned an automatic car but my partner got a new A class merc as a courtesy car when her TT was in the garage and I fell in love with automatics, and the a class but don't have the budget for a new model right now. As for a premier spec, I did look, the main thing extra I would want is the automatic distance cruise control and given the only premier nearby was 1.5k more, 12 months older and the wrong colour I am very happy with my choice, I love gunmetal grey cars, or in the case Mercury grey. Sully, I really like the styling on the F sport but I don't want sport suspension, gutted you're not completely happy with your car, thankfully the roads I'm on are not too bad that an F sport would have been an issue and thankfully I have the dial system not the weird mouse thing as even the positive reviews never seem to make it look user friendly, although I just want my phone to connect and play audio and maybe answer the odd call if essential. That's everything I can remember, I need to go sort out insurance on the computer tomorrow so I'll try remember to check back again before my dad taking me down to pick it up.
  4. Loving the discussions going on but the deal is done, deposit paid today, collection on Wednesday, fingers crossed. Sold by lexus Nottingham who wouldn't budge on the price (Inchcape group so apparently prices are set by head office and are non negotiable) but managed to get a full tank of fuel and 3 years warranty at a discount price so I'm happy. Also going to take up the service plan for the 3 years. I'm very happy with the spec I have as the Bmax has very little so cruise control was enough to sell me, I tend to listen to audiobooks and podcasts when I drive as I find them more relaxing, although I am prone to blasting a bit of metal so hopefully the speakers are at least adequate, my hearing is terrible and I'm no audiophile so I'm not worried. One final trip to IKEA tomorrow in the Bmax before giving it to my mum. Thanks for all the help, I'll pop up a couple of photos once I've collected it.
  5. Unfortunately due to Covid a test drive is not an option until the 12th at least and with work and other commitments it's unlikely i will be able to get there any time after next week. I have emailed the dealers and they are calling me at 13:30 tomorrow to discuss the car along with extended warranty and service plan. I'm useless at negotiating face to face but more confident over the phone so I'm hopeful i should get a decent deal as it will be a full payment on card no PX or anything, if that makes a difference any more these days.
  6. I'm just about to finish a night shift, I'm going to sleep on it, but I have watched a lot of video reviews and read a lot of comparisons but I'm 95% sure I'm going to get it, if i wake up and still happy I'm going to email them to hopefully arrange collection some time next week. Given my only concern is how it drives given the comparisons regularly mention it is on par with a C class and 3 series BMW and some say its better to drive I don't see me having an issue with it as my B-Max is essentially an underpowered overweight fiesta on stilts (I've had it 4 years and its be faultless but is certainly not a commuter car), I'm not expecting it to be as thrilling and as good in the corners as my partners TT is be but its more for relaxing on my way to/from work and picking my children up.
  7. Well, its now reserved and I immediately realised I should have waited until after midnight as it shows reserved till 04/04 and I know they are closed tomorrow being Easter Sunday. I don't know if they need to manually trigger a refund in PayPal but if it becomes available again (I'm working a night shift tomorrow again too so I can watch) i will reserve again. Now to see if there is any way I can get a test drive in one before the 12th
  8. Cheers, I'm not worried about performance being underwhelming, I'm coming from a basic spec 1.4 Ford B-max that has a 0-60 of nearly 14 seconds, for sportier drives I can always use my partners TT, I love her car but I have to children so I cant get away with anything too sporty as they barely fit in her back seats. think I'm going to pop a reservation down and hope they will hold it pending test drive on the 12th.
  9. The one I'm looking at is an executive edition, turns out my local dealer is actually about 7 miles away, they just don't show up when I'm searching for used cars, although the one I'm looking at is an executive edition 60 miles away it's 2k cheaper and 12 months younger than the premier edition at my local dealership. I'm very close to reserving it on the website in the hope they will hold it for me till the 12th so I can take it for a drive before making a final decision but the price and colour are both perfect 🙂
  10. Hi, just thought I would ask for some advice, I'm currently looking at a 64 plate IS300h with 75k on the clock, I have never had a Lexus or a Hybrid but i love the styling of it and the hope of reliability. Closest I have owned would be either an old 3 series or a Mondeo, i like the way both of those drove so hoping the IS would be something similar but the higher priority is reliability and comfort as my 10 minute commute is now 30-40 so a city car is no longer a comfortable option. I would like to get one soon but obviously with the current situation I am unable to test drive one and without ever driving a Lexus or a Hybrid I am concerned I may not be a fan, although very unlikely. My other options I was looking at were C class Mercedes or a Mondeo but the reliability and styling or the Lexus is really pushing me towards it. I know this is an owners club so reviews will be slightly bias towards a Lexus but is there anything i need to worry about getting an IS300h, i know the mpg figures are more likely to be mid 40's then 60+ that I might get should I opt for a diesel alternative as my commute is 90% A roads. I would be buying from a Lexus dealership as I want the true Lexus experience, if that makes any difference. My only other concern would be my closest dealership is 30 miles away but I would hopefully only be taking it in once a year for service & MOT so I'll just enjoy the day out.
