  1. Same here - definitely differential bearings. I've just had the rear discs off and the noise is only coming from the diff. Seems to be a weak point as I've seen lots of posts about this.
  2. Thanks for that - they look good. Don't need anything too fancy, as it's probably only ever going to have a 20kg canoe on them and not even that bothered about them being lockable, as the canoe won't be!
  3. Having read all sorts of conflicting stories from eBay sellers etc, can anyone categorically confirm whether Mk 3 and Mk 2 roof bars are the same fitment, please? I can find loads of roof bars for Mk3 (2008-15), but virtually none for Mk2 (2003-7), yet other sellers are saying their bars fit Mk2 AND Mk3 (2003-2015). Has anyone in the UK got a pair for sale, that will definitely fit a 2007 400h? Thanks
  4. I'm sure you're right, but a 'few grams of platinum' is hardly the sort of thing some dodgy character buys off you in the pub, is it? 15,000 catalysts stolen is pretty serious though (and nearly double the previous year) - I note face masks are making ID almost impossible from CCTV footage, so I guess it's open season now 🙄
  5. Having just bought an '07 RX400h, these stories are scaring the heck out of me! Just seen this https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9461189/Thieves-pull-broad-daylight-steal-catalytic-converter-car.html for example. I have to ask how the hell do these thieves actually get paid for these stolen cats? Surely the easiest way to stop this is to shut down the disposal chain? I simply don't understand how precious metals are firstly extracted from the cats, then introduced to the legitimate supply chain, having come from dubious sources? Am I being naive, or a bit thick, or something? Or are less scrupulous nationalities / governments / law enforcement ethics involved here? My guess is these low life get about £25 for a stolen cat (which could amount to a pretty good living if it only takes 2 minutes), but costs the victim upwards of £500 a pop! Think I'm going to straight pipe mine, if it goes missing!
