I have a similar sounding issue, most noticeable when turning the steering to almost full lock. As Johntechx said, I think it is a worn top mount bearing. It is possible to have them replaced rather than replacing the whole strut. Lexus rather unhelpfully do not sell the bearings as a separate part however.
