  1. Had all four replaced a couple of weeks ago by Lexus Reading and they collected the car for the day, but think an hour each may be optimistic. As far as I could make out the only way to get to the handles is from the inside, and this means removal of the door panel. Glad they took their time and car returned as new with no marks.

  2. I run a 350 nx premium plus with 16000 miles on it and find the car better than my volvo,s in lots of ways. Seats more comfortable, less noise and good fuel consumption, getting 46 at moment but will drop to 45. This is due to towing a trailer and you should get the 47 they state (these are on the clock from new not by journey where 50 is quite normal)

If you tow or use a towbar bike rack ,talk to the dealer as Lexus are years behind Volvo and you have to switch off all reversing warnings yourself via the screen.

My only disappointment is that Lexus themselves take no real care of their customers and leave it to the dealers. All my software updates were looked after as expected, but they never came back to me over fuel flap or door handles, both of which can be fixed, but you have to ask.

Very good car, good dealers and hope you enjoy yours if you take the plunge.

  3. Two weeks ago I would have only glanced at this post but after being stuck for nearly fours hours with a flat Battery it's not funny. Went to a motorcycle event and left car unlocked so the others could get in, but ignition off and no radio on. Can only assume the opening and closing doors drained Battery and when I tried to start, seat went forward but no ready light. Thinking it was just playing tricks got out locked and tried again, lights then flashed, alarms beeping but no start. Called Lexus assist and given an 70 minute wait, this increased every 15 minutes, then went to 4 hours after the first call. Someone came from home with jump leads and started it ourselves. Car in for a check, but they told me it will only give a flat Battery code, no faults will show up.

Lexus customer service reply to my email is that they use the AA and have no control over there call outs !

A few things to be learnt

The car default is to lock all doors when Battery flat, so keep one open.

Open bonnet at once so you can get to the jump start connections.

Keep a power pack with you at all times.

This is my first Lexus and really enjoy the car, but at times find it bewildering, I have had a sponge on fuel flap to keep it open, stood holding door handle trying to get in on cold days and now the Battery !

Lastly I find it most upsetting that faults that you high light to Lexus Customer service are ignored, both the fuel flap and door handles I have had to request with my dealer after seeing solutions on here.

  4. After three volvo,s with tow bars I was amazed that a car with all the clever electronics does not automatically disable items when towing.

In fact I thought it must be an incorrectly fitted tow bar ,but my dealer assured me the Lexus one is just power to the socket and as you have found all systems must be turned off in the car.

When using my trailer it just makes a lot of noise and an occasional slam of the brakes, but with a bike rack it's like you have hit a wall in reverse.

Nothing in the manual or tow bar instructions mentions this and I feel it lets a great car down.

  5. Had mine since April last year and the average went up to 48.4 mpg, but over the winter it has gone down to 45.5 , but towing a trailer kills the readings. When towing the best obtained was 40 mpg and I have used the trailer a lot this year.

Most of my journeys now show over 50 mpg, but it takes a lot to recover from the poor journeys .

  6. Just a warning the towbar electrics only power the socket they do not control the kick sensor or any rear warning alerts. The kick sensor is turned off on the screen and stays off, but the rear alerts need turning off each time you use the towbar.

Also beware of any recalls as these can reset the car back to factory settings and the kick sensor will then operate.

  7. My awd 350h has now done 4000 miles with a varied range of driving including towing a trailer and the mpg stands at 47.9. Hoping to get to 48, but not sure as regularly have a 200 mile trip to Cornwall keeping to the speed limits.

When the dreaded Link worked it showed 40 mpg towing and 65 mpg on a short trip !!!

The above figures are way better than my old Volvo xc60 diesel, so very pleased.
