  1. No I haven't had the car into Lexus just yet, I would have to get it towed there as it keeps cutting out after after about 15 mins, although it does start again after it's been sitting for about 3 hours. A bit of history over the last couple of months...... The car was running rough as if it wasn't firing on all cylinders, it had the following error codes, P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0301 Cylinder #1 Misfire Detected P0302 Cylinder #2 Misfire Detected P0303 Cylinder #3 Misfire Detected P0304 Cylinder #4 Misfire Detected P0305 Cylinder #5 Misfire Detected I changed the plugs, no difference so replaced the relevant coil packs which did make it run that bit smoother, but still not perfect. Checked the codes again and I now had the code, P0175 System Too Rich (Bank #2) The car now cuts out after it has been running for 15 mins or so, I have to leave the car for a couple of hours before it will start again. I had another error code which I cannot recall, as the battery went completely flat and I lost all the error codes I can recall it started P13## I put the car into a local garage who advertise themselves as Diagnosis Specialists, it sat in there for four weeks and they couldn't fix the problem, their Invoice says the following.. Found injectors not operating when vehicle starting,. Found coolant temp sensor valves fluctuating, replaced temp sensor and tested. Vehicle still cutting out. Checked valve timing and other Engine sensors. No faults found on test - Suspect internal fault with Engine Control Unit. I am about to send my own ECU to ECU testing in Notts and see what they say, so rather than have my key recoded (just in case it is not an ECU problem) I would rather have my second hand ECU decoded, or is their away I can have the immobilizer code function disabled ? Once again any help would be much appreciated !
  2. You would be right in what your saying. Is there anyone in the country who can decode or even bypass the immobiliser within the ECU ?
  3. I also heard that, but I think that maybe that is more to do with the Electronic Control Unit which is different to the Engine Control Unit. A tad confusing when they both abbreviate to 'ECU' Has anyone had any experiences, that they can help me out with ? Many thanks
  4. Hello there. Could someone please tell me if the Engine Control Unit 'ECU' can simply be replaced. I have read elsewhere that ECU's are synced up to their engines. I have went through various sensor problems, changed coils, to resolve and resolve my various error codes, but my IS200 still misfires and cuts out after about 10mins. Can i simply try out another ECU just to rule it out ?? Cheers
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. much appreciated
  6. Hello there. I am looking at buying my own diagnostic reader, one that is compliant with an IS200 (yr 2000) I have a laptop so I was just looking for software and the necessary cales etc. Would this here fit the bill ? Is it basically any OBDII interface 16 pin connecter that will do the trick, I am pretty new to this electronic ignition suff, even though it's been the norm for a good few years now !! Many thanks Copper.
  7. Cheers for the quick reply Stevie I had already replaced one before I had a diagnostic test done. I knew that I was misfiring so changed the plugs first with no result. I could see I still wasn't sparking from one so I changed that coil pack, still no result !! Turns out I needed another three. So you would be right, I needed two pairs Thanks or the link, just bought the other three.
  8. Hello there, I am looking for three (working) coil packs for a IS200 (yr 2000) Anybody manage to help ? Thanks Copper
  9. Many thanks for your replies. You guys are absolutely right! The info I got was the HT lead was replaced, but it turns out it was actually a coil pack that was replaced. I now have box the new one came in and it states 'Toyota – Ignition Coil pack', sorry for the confusion. So I still have this lumpy misfire going on… So I have had a diagnostic test done by a friend at a bodyshop for free. Codes come up as P0300 multiple misfire P0302 cylinder 2 P0303 cylinder 3 P0306 cylinder 6 Would this mean that yet another three coil packs at said cylinders need replacing, Is this common for this many to go at once ? And is so is £100 a shot from Lexus my only option Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  10. Hello there. Looking for a wee bit of help here please. The other week my IS200 felt lumpy, as if it was running on five cylinders. The engine management light and the trc control light are flashing on and off. I had my mate check it out, who confirmed it was indeed only firing on the five cylinders, he changed the plugs with no joy, so suggested the HT lead but warned me they are £100, but I thought I would give it a go. Still no joy. So a quick search through these forums points me in the direction of the coil pack. Is this a big job? Any help would be much appreciated. PS: I now have a nearly new HT lead for sale ! Copper
  11. Hi Nicky. Sorry for the delay, i was away. I just bought my ball joints from Lexus, i think they were £114 inc VAT for the pair. Cheers Copper.
  12. Hello folks. Here are the torque settings that Lexus had faxed me for installing lower ball joints on an IS200SE (year of car was a 2000) 1. INSTALL LOWER BALL JOINT (a.) Install the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts. Torque: 113 N.m (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf) (b.) Connect the lower ball joint to the No.1 lower suspension arm with the nut. Torque: 123 N.m (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft-lbf) (c.) Install a new cotter pin. If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60'. 2. CONNECT TIE ROD END TO LOWER BALL JOINT (a.) Connect the tie rod end with the nut. Torque: 54 N.m (550 kgf-cm, 40 ft-lbf) (b.) Install a new clip. If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60'. 3.INSTALL DISC AND BRAKE CALIPER Install the disc, brake caliper and 2 bolts. Torque: 118 N.m (1,200 kgf-cm 87 ft-lbf) 4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf-cm 76 ft-lbf) 5. CHECK FRONT WHEEL ALINGMENT B) Copper
  13. I will be posting it up. I was waiting until the job is done on Saturday, just in case they have faxed me the wrong settings. Copper.
  14. (FT) nice one, so that'll explain why my bosses initials are F T Goods news is i phoned up Lexus and they faxed me the torque settings for my car. Thanks for the replies.
  15. Thanks for the response. Would Lexus give me the torque settings if i was to ask them ? Excuse my ignorance but what does "( FT ) for the torque setting" mean ? Thanks again Copper
  16. Hello there. I am looking to see if anyone can help here. I am about to have my front lower ball joints replaced by a local mechanic, they have been worn for a while. The mechanic told me to take the car in for a quick look before he starts the job next weekend, and he said that he would need the torque setting on the bolts for the ball joints as they are spring bolts. Anyone manage to help out here ? Thanks Copper
  17. Oh aye !! Looks like my feet have been cut !
  18. Hello there. My N/S/F Brake caliper is starting to stick again, i have already cleaned it up and 'Copper slipped' it up twice already Does anyone have or know where i can find a new / reconditioned one at a decent price Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Copper
  19. Thanks for the input Mudzs. I forgot to say that there is no knocking noises coming from the ball joint area. Thanks again Copper.
  20. Hello. I was told at my 50,000 service a few months ago that my lower ball joints were worn and needed replaced, I told lexus not to bother replacing them. I cover very little mileage in a week so my plan was to have my local garage replace them before they MOT the car in a couple of weeks time. But i now have to do a quick round trip of 250 miles, so i need to know how much trust i can put in the ball joints. The local garage told me that the Lexus IS200 ball joints are designed not to pop out, so i would be safe enough to make the journey. Anyone know any different ? Any help would be much appreciated Thanks.
  21. Hello folks. I have always thought that my car had an intermediate sticking come from somewhere, I was due my 50,000 mile service so I left it in the hands of Lexus to hopefully point out if there was a problem. So last week I had my car returned from it’s 50,000 mile service, and they had pointed out that that both lower ball joints were worn, and should be replaced, but I wasn’t keen on paying the £££££’s that I was quoted, so I collected the car with the intention of getting the ball joints replaced elsewhere. Last night I noticed a right stink of brakes !! I just thought it was the 42 tonner in front of me, but I soon realised that it was coming from me. The N/S/F disc was cooking and stinking, so I would imagine that I am also looking at a sticky caliper as well as worn ball joints, or could just worn ball joints cause this ? Where can I find replacement parts, and how easy are these parts to replace by myself ? Any help would be much appreciated. Copper.
  22. Hi again. Well that all went well, 10 days after contacting Lexus, I have a new stereo fitted, what more can you say, fanfriggintastic service. Thanks for the help & advice folks :winky:
  23. This all sounds just wee a bit too good to be true. I'll go in tomorrow and probably get laughed out of the showroom. :duh: I'll let you know. Thanks again.
  24. That was quick Colin !! Thanks. But even though i never purchased the car from new ? Thanks again.
  25. Hi My CD player has also become jammed, I have three discs in that will no longer play or eject. The car was registered in March 2000, but has had two previous owners, will the CD player still be covered under this 5 year warranty? Any help would be much appreciated Copper.
