  1. Hello everyone,

Yes it's been an awful long time since I posted anything on this forum, but with a new GS 450h F Sport on the way, I need a little info.

Am I the only new GS owner that isn't really keen on the front splitter on the new GS.

I've found the corner splitter parts on eBay for the GS which really tides up the corners, the black self coloured parts have the TRD Code MS341-30005-C0 On eBay they're selling for just over £900, but on TRD Japan there about half that, but I can't order them from TRD Japan. Does anyone one know where they can be found in Europe, or from a UK retailer at a reasonable price.

If tagged on a couple of pictures.

    Many thanks in advance.

  2. So we now have an infinite supply of free energy and broken the laws of physics?

Great.. Put it in a power station and get free electricity. Global warming is no more.

It's rubbish and demonstrably so. There are no objective quantified tests... a clear sign of bull****.

Yes some of the intetnet claims are outlandish, but a home built electrolysis unit running from

the generated electricity from the altetnator, pumping out enough hydrogen and oxygen direct into the

air intake must have some influence on performance or economy.

Increasing the oxygen intake would show up on the lambda sensor.

  3. I've been reading with interest on the net about home made or kit form Oxyhydrogen generators

and wondered if anyone had tried one on a hybrid.

Its basically a Brown's gas generator (electrolise's water back to Hydrogen and Oxygen) and pipes the

gas into the air intake in the regular airstream

The Hydrogen being additional fuel mixed with pure

oxygen. Some clains on the net state a 50% increase in fuel

    economy.

1 litre of de-mineralised water produces 1860 litres of mixed

HHO gas. 1 Litre of water can last a couple of weeks obviously depending on mileage.

What would be the effects on the engine and would you need

to remap the ecu or change the lambda censor.

I understand it works on petrol or diesel engines.

    Interested to see your comments

  4. Is the GS450H new then?

My old man paid £36k i think for an 09 Sport GS450H. He nearly went to bradford, but didnt ring back and kept pushing him into a sale.

He we to Carilse in the end for his.

The 450h sport was the dealer principals car registered in April 09 3 months old with 4200k on the clock

Paid 18k to change from my 2006 (56) IS 250SE-L Auto MM with 48k on the clock which i think was a

cracking deal. The car was originaly priced at 34.6k.

Probably the best deal i could get. In comparison Audi offerd me 10.5k for the IS in

px for a new S5 Quattro 3 months ago. I laughed at them and left.

  5. No it definitely doesn't have ACC/PCS nor can it be specified, it's only an option on the SE-L (no longer standard on that either).

Is the ride a lot harder on the runflats? If not I'd personally keep them on as I'm sure they've been through some testing procedure to match them up with the suspension and the active stabiliser system, as well as the fact that they are a lifesaver should anything go wrong :)

Btw, what was the 450h up for? £18k cost to change does look like a pretty good deal there.......

Lexus Bradford had it up for £34595, i think i did pretty well.

  6. Think it might have been me that posted that list, and I think it's still correct :)

    Thanks everyone.

Out of that lot i'll only miss the ventilated seats in the hotest summer days, read a post earlier on which suggested the sport has ACC/PCS but can't fin any other references

to it so its probably wrong. Great no sun roof, I'm 6'5" so no sunroof is a plus for me, no wood on me wheel, not bothered.

Run flats.. hmm can you change them for standard tyres and a can of foam or does it mess with the tyre pressure sensors?

All the rest is good news.

Picking the car up on Friday morning down in Bradford.

  7. After several months of hmm and harrr, I've this afternoon gone with my initial instincs and traded my 56 IS250 SEL Auto with MM for an

09 GS450h Sport in Obsidian Black. The IS has 47k on the clock so it was a good time to change.

I managed to get the Sport for 18k to upgrade which i think is a pretty good deal.

After looking on Lexus web site and lots of trawling, I still can't find a comparison chart between the SEL and Sport.

I know I asked this on here some time ago but i cant find the post now, I've recently read a post or two that suggest

things i thought we'rnt of the sport are, like the range keeping cruise control.

Does anyone have a full spec list?

  8. I actually just looked at one of these and it was funny as the price list had some errors in it! If I can find it I can tell you exactly what it is as the dealer scribbled on the true spec for each model.

Essentially it's not a base model, it sits around the SE-L with a few extras and missing a few things.

Off the top of my head I remember that the Sport doesn't have ventilated seats but I think that's all that's missing from the SE-L. The additions are the bodykit, active stabliser system and the run flat tyres (as there's no space in the boot for a spare wheel anymore)

It is an upgrade from the SE-L, only downside being that you can't get the optional ACC/PCS on the Sport, but if you're buying used it doesn't really matter as it doesn't seem there are many SE-Ls about with that option fitted.

    Thanks Parthiban,

I think a trip to the dealers to pick up a brochure may be in order.

  9. Add one more car to that earlier list:

Used Maserati Quatroporte, saw some cracking deals on the internet.

The fuel bill would be the killer. But the insurance is only £600 fully comp.

I am a huge fan of the Quattroporte, was actually trying to tell my dad to swap the CLS for one of those but he was having none of it

Gotta say I'm impressed by the insurance quote there, those things are group 20 aren't they so that's an impressive quote wherever you live and however old you are! Having said that have you thought about the CLS? It is a great car and their values have dropped like a stone recently so a brilliant used buy........

41 Y/O Live around Newcastle East suburb in a terraced house with off street parking 5 years protected no claims and no points.

Privilege Insurance quote on a 2006 V8 Sport Duoselect Quattroporte £40k on 16k miles per year £602.42 per year.

    Pretty good?.

I like Mercs, and have no specific objection to the CLS but as you point out the prices have again slumped

recently, I've noticed over the past few months how personal car selection really is.

As i said ,I like Mercs, but for some subconscious, subliminal reason i could'nt by one of the current

models, something does'nt quite fit with me. I don't know why, hence they dont appear in my shortlist.

  11. I've just spent the last hour on the www looking for the spec and equipment

list for the GS450h Sport to compare with the SE/SEL. I'm looking at pre-owned

GS hybrids on the Lexus site but there's no medntion of an equipment list for the Sport.

Anyone shed any light on the major differences between the models.

From what i can glean from the web its a slightly enhanced basic 450h

with additional suspension control system and run flat tyres. No mention

of sat nav or trim level. I'm not sure I want run flats with the horror stories of replacement prices.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

    Ta.

  12. How much did they offer off the Audi? If not a lot then they were trying to screw you over which does sound like Audi.........

I was actually offered around £4.5-5k for my almost 7 year old IS200 from my Lexus dealer which I actually thought was quite a good offer, especially as it was purely speculative and I hadn't tried any serious haggling yet.

We did'nt get quite as far as haggling over the price. The spec list is long and varried, and i have'nt

got through the full options list yet, soI decided to show my distain for the offer

and take my business elsewhere. I dont think the salesman was to bothered, supprisingly the showroom

was really busy and i had to wait while they handed over 3 new cars. It did'nt look like Audi is suffering

too much from the credit crunch

On the other hand I still have to look at the XF and the GS The only off putting thing with the XF is that awful

Ford windscreen with the fine mesh of wires in it.

A used GS has become my preffered option now that Audi have annoyed me.

  13. After having enjoyed my IS250 for more than two and a half years i decided its time for a change.

I have a short list of cars i'd like to own, so I started the shopping process yesterday.

    Audi A5 3.2 Multitronic

    GS 450h SEL

    Jaguar XF

First stop was Audi to test an A5 3.2 Multitronic.

Nice car , comfortable, quick & stylish but heres the rub. Audi offered me £10,400 for my 31 month old

IS250 SEL Auto MM. just serviced (Friday) full Lexus History 4 new tyres, no issues, very clean car.

How can a car which according to the guides would be worth approx 55% of its original value after

3 years sink to only 33% after only 31 months.

To say i'm shocked is a complete understatement. I know money is tight in the current climate

but stil i'm looking at a loss against book price of about 6k after 3 years.

Suffice to say Audi was my first and last stop yesterday. At those trade in prices the IS stays

    for the time being. :tsktsk:

Has anyone else suffered to this extent.

    Cheers

  14. I've tried this earlier on another post with no response so i thouht it give its own topic sorry for the repetition.

I'm trying to find 4 new boots for my 250SEL and struggling

The originals have done 30k and are being replaced, as the dealer is changing the

wheels due to corrosion. The originals are Bridgestone Potenza 225/45R17 and 245/45R17

the original pattern is an RE050 but the rears it cant get anywhere so i have been

offered the the same Bridgestones as asymetrical RE050A does this make any difference?

The RE050A's seem alot cheaper, or am i just worrying over nothing.

  16. Just a thought, what happens if youre driving acros europe on holiday and your map suddenly runs out

how do you change it, if its a 4 disk set and the dealer has to take the fascia off for you .......Bo :tsktsk: cks!

Does anyone sit down and work this stuff out before releasing a product.

Did I miss something? I gave you the info you requested + the disc removal instructions that you said you couldn't find (it's in the manual).

You don't have to get the dealership to change the DVD. The tools are in the kit supplied with the car and it's simple enough to change...see the attachment I included in reply to you.

Driving the IS-F or sitting in the waiting area reading the papers/watching Wimbleton on the box and drinking coffee??? Wasn't a difficult choice TBH.

Appreciate the info, but tried for an hour last night to get the bloomin fascia off and it wouldnt budge

and recieved an PM from Scarlet Pimpernell earlier this morning, explaining that the dealers have a special tool

which is quick and clean for pulling off the front. I spent and hour pulling and twisting and nearly bending those

little pins but it wouldnt come off. I thought thier must be some special technique but apparently not.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  17. Hello Chaps,

Just a quicky, The sat nav data in my 56 250sel is really getting me down, "missing motorways, no known road in this town etc..."

    so i fancies the update.

I've looked on the forum and through the manual, and remember seeing the graphic of how you extract the disk

but for the life of me i cant find it now. Cause i cant get the bl**dy disk out to get the serial number off it.

Any one point me in the direction of the method or graphic instructions to getting those little fiddly pin point screw driver thingys into the

little holes at the right angel to get the front panel off

From what i understand from the map update site you need the number off your disk to put in the search engine

on the web site, which tells you which disk you need to buy.

    OR

Does someone know the generic codes for the disks for 2005-2006 version 1

If anyone has a spare 2007-2008 disk or an even more upto date UK only disk

i would be happy to part with some hard earned for it

    PM me if you have..

    Cheers

Changed mine yesterday from the 2005-2006 version 1 dvd (codes 86271-53030/8627160V660J) to the 2007-2008 version 1 (4 DVD european set - you need the 'West' disc for the UK). Got my update from Lexus Cheltenham £115 + VAT, and they also changed it while I took the IS-F for a drive....

    To change the DVD:-

    Tango,

What a bargin ! £115+ VAT to test drive the New ISF and a free Sat Nav disk thrown in. :hehe:

I found a number of 4 disk sets of the 2007/2008 software on eBay this morning,Ebay unfortnatly they all appear to have have the same serial number. (How Starange).

I thought if the numbers matched up using the maps update site then that could have been a real bargin.

Anyway Scarlet Pimpernell sent me a PM earlier and it looks like a dealer job to extract the disk anyway.

But, not to worry off to the dealers to see if they have an ISF i can test for £115.

    Cheers
