My only quibble with the heating is the interface lets you select a combination of one or two
vents to have the air come out.
Why isnt thier an ambient setting where air comes out from all the vents?
Rather than hot feet or dry eyes, why cant we be warm all over.
The easy cure in the winter is to set the heated seats to warn as the air won't
come on until the engine reaches tempreture to heat the coolant water.
And i'm at work by then

And look at the estimate price. I'm sure thats wrong
Although we live in hope.
-
You won't get one for 44k from the UK, and it's likely they may sell out before release as there are somewhere between 100 and 200 expected in the UK.
Bugger !
Are you suggesting the price is nearer or more than 50k i heard they were trying to
unercut the kraut motors. with the M3 starting at 53k i thought th F would be about 44-46k

Wow guys you have all managed to add confusion to an already cloudy issue.
50k is overbudget for me somewhere near 44k is what i was i was hoping for
chandru thanks for the link, are all of the sports parts factory options or dealer fit parts?
I dont want one onthe 1st of April i would wait until maybe June depending on availability
i just wondered when prices would be released.
ProLex-UK were you responsible for the Brinks Matt Job, when do you expect delivery?

Just taken a long and exciting look at the forthcoming ISF on the Yank ISF micro site.
0 - 60 time 4.6 secs OOoooooooooh yeah :D . But the flow of info for the UK seems to have dried up.
I know some of you guys out there are dealers or have the ear of higher offices in Lexus GB.
Can someone shed some light on a possible release date and when dealers will have a price list.
I am really tempted but its borderline if the price is to high. I'd rather quash my desires early
than get carried away if its toooooo much and stick with the 250 for another year or so.
Come on you have someting to shout about so lets hear it.

I know this topic has been covered a number of times previously but, after a good wash and brush up yesterday
i noticed the paintwork on the front bumper and bonnet is atrocious, it looks like its been shot with a blunderbus.
The car is black and the base coat is an obvious white which shows out each chip. Has anyone had any joy
complaining about the state of paintwork on the IS. The way it looks it could start to rust during the winter,
is this covered by the anti-corrosion warranty?
Advice please.

Mine is coming up on 16500m but with no noticeable engine noise. Can you post a link to the USLOC post on the engine problems
and fix.
Just interested in what the issues are.

Hi P4UL T
I have been with Sky BB for about 5 months, the only problem i find is getting in to email at around 4-5pm or as the the school kids
start logging in the bandwidth is eaten up and it can take a few long seconds logging in.
If your looking for a BB supplier in your area try www.samknows.com put in your post code and telephone number
and check out who has a reasonable connection speed on your exchange.
I live about 100yds from my local exchange so my £10 per month Sky BB gets me 17.8MB connection better than anyone else i know.

i once even got it up to 56.4 on a run back from Manchester with a strong following wind and coasting down hill.
Did you set the spinnaker as well as the mainsail ?
Yes but, we had to heave it in when Coming About on the the M62.

Does anyone else here have Lexus Insurance?
I have just signed up for a second year with Lexus Insurance. (Royal & Sun Alliance)
Lexus IS 250 SEL Auto MM.
2 SP30's 3 years old.
Just 39 and 13 months old
5 years NCD Protected Fully Comp
16k Miles per year with full business use.
Garaged in an inner city.
£551.00 same as last year.
Next to no excess, guranteed Lexus car as a replacement should mine need work
and all work done by Lexus not some back street garage. and a great new for old
thing in the first year if its a right off. No mucking about with cover for courtesy cars
its already on the policy.
I know its a bit more but you only get what you pay for.
If you get quotes from Confused.com or similar make sure you dont use a regular email
address, set up a temporary one with someone like Orange or ukonline. My Inbox
is flooded daily by junk from these idiots since i asked for a quote event though i ticked all
the right boxes for no further contact. Tw :tsktsk: ts

I can only concur with the other members above. Mine is coming up on 12 months old with 15.5k on the clock
the transmittion is far smoother than new and the MPG has steadily increased to average around
30 urban and 38 on motorways, i once even got it up to 56.4 on a run back from Manchester
with a strong following wind and coasting down hill.
And still no rattles. only one minor irritation the air vents in the centre console, the left hand
one has developed a fault and now only moves horizontally the vertical adjuster seems to
have come adrift somewhere inside. I'll wait until the next service to have it fixed. No great shakes.
Paintwork is my only bugbear, the bonnet looks like its been through a war zone. Stone chips
everywhere but i do put in alot of motorway miles so its not unexpected, just a little more
more than i had anticipated.

Welcome to the forum Basha.
Youre one of the growing number who contribute to this
forum from the Toon.
I know if you read through some threads it all looks like doom and gloom
but trust me its much easier to post grumbles than praise, not everone
rushes to post everytime they had a great drive with audio turned up or found
and address in the middle of a strange city first time.
Enjoy the car,

I had my DVD player replaced by Lexus Newcastle ater the system stopped. It was related to the AUX socket and plugging in my Ipod.
Switching from Ipod to DVD the system said NO DISK even though all 6 slots were filled and it would not respond even after
switching the whole car off then back on. It would clear after an hour or so but very frustrating if you wanted to play a disk.
Lexus Newcastle only replaced the DVD section of the Sat Nav as they are two separate units, so dont expect a whole new system
if its just the DVD player section.

Hi everyone,
Came back from Manchester on Tuesday, on the M62 a truck threw up a large nut which hit
the bonnet and chipped the windscreen. The bonnet has a deep scratch down to metal and
a shallow dent. The windscreen isnt to bad, the chip is only on the surface and high up behind the rear view
mirror. Ive tried calling Dent Devils, i used a couple of years ago but i'm not getting any
response. Anyone in the North East no a good dent repairer?.
Ill get Chips Away to look at the paint once the dent is sorted.
I would also like to thank the driver who left me with a door dent in the offside passenger door
in Tesco North Shelds last weekend. B@$#@rd.

Car and Bike Magic - Riverside Road, Southwick, Sunderland - take no notice of the low rent name - I have used them on 3 occasions - each time they have done a superb job - on my last IS200 a brick was thrown from a flyover onto the bonnet - massive dent and loads of paint taken off - they charged me £180 to sort the whole bonnet - traded it in a couple of weeks later and Lexus Newcastle didn't have a clue that the whole bonnet had been resprayed :winky:
Thanks Wicky, i'll give them a call later in the week.
Cheers,

Delighted with my 250 sel auto. I average 32 -34 mostly combined. My best ever was a Friday run back from
Manchester. I deliberatly did this to see what i could get. I filled up with Shell standard unleaded just before M602 then after the 165 mile run along the M62 and up the A1.
The display read 56.4mpg. I must confess i took it really easy coasted down hill and slip streamed up hills
with the AC off and mirrors folded in. But the numbers speak for themsleves. I used less than 1/4 tank.
I really dull run, but in heavy traffic you cant drive at more desireable speeds so i went for the numbers rather than speed.

Hello everyone.
Yes i read the article in the New LEXUS mag and i'm happy to say it looks spectacular
I asked last month at Newcastle abouth the IS F and they knew lees about it than we do.
I may put down a deposit if the price is right once realsed, I could live with about £44k
anymore than that and the wife goes on eBay. :P

Its my 40th birthday on Sunday also. I may even consider coming

and a resturant that doesnt have pictures of the food outside.

Steve,
I had the same problem with mine back in December, It wasnt OK to drive in the ice and snow as the traction and braking control is turned off. Very twitchy in the wet, spun it around on a mini roundabout on my way to the dealers.
Mine went in 4 times to be looked at. The computer diagnostics said change the O2 sensor on the engine bank 1. Mine had the system reset on the first visit, suspected faulty O2 sensor changed second visit, and whole ECU changed on the third and finally they changed the bank 2 O2 sensor which sorted it out. Computers are'nt always right. But yours is a oiler so may only have one O2 sensor.
Hope yours has less visits than mine, Lexus Newcastle looked after me very well while trying to sort it out.
No probs since. :D

Sorry to start a new topic on an old one ,so to speak but the relevant threads are in the IS 200 part of the site.
As some of you will know I have had a bee in my bonnet about my sat/nav since I got it. I bought the car in May last year ( ten months ago). In Ireland it is a disaster, almost no coverage in some areas and no traffic avoidance at all ( and this is in the Dublin area, who knows what it is like in the sticks). Its like buying a computer that you are told has windows xp and when you turn it on find it working on windows 3.1. (It works, kind of).
I have been mentioning this problem in conversations with people from Lexus and Kinsella Lexus who are the people from whom I bought the car and must say I have had little positive feedback.
So decided to take the bull by the horns yesterday when I put the car in for a service and asked straight up if they would replace the disc while they had her in for the day and they said no, they would put in the update and charge me €250, did I want it? what do you think. So I have decided to get a bit bolshie about this as to my mind the thing does not do what it says on the tin and if I had known it was going to be so crappy I would not have bought the MM as this was the main reason for getting it. Also the DVD does not work for the passengers when you are moving so thats at bit of a joke as well. If I can sit in a warm house and watch them I am hardly going to sit in a cold car to do it, so that's another bit of slightly skewed advertising.
So I have written a nice letter to the MD of Kinsella Lexus asking them to replace the disc under warranty, as someone else said they don't seem to have any problem spending money on horse racing days and golf days etc so what about spending some on customer satisfaction. Nicnac got his replaced through his dealer so it looks like I,ll have to ask him who he bought the car from for the next time ( if there is a next time).
If they don't respond positively I have decided to take this as far as I have to. €5400 plus interest on the loan is a lot of money.
For posterity's sake 15000 km service - done. Replace leaking battery under warranty- done. Repair paint that is coming off between the boot and bumper under warranty -to be done. Repair rattle in left front of car- to be done, ( they want her for a couple of days) total cost €266 inc vat.
Rant over.
Barry,
I think i have a similar problem, grit getting into the gap, and as you close or open the boot the gap is so small its scratching the paint off boot lid edge and bumper top. Going to have it looked at during the first service.

Southbound filled up in Newcastle returned a tank average of 41.2 then on the return it slowly
crept up to a whopping 45.2 ! thats door to door used just less than half a tank on 320 miles.
Infinity......................
I did 336 miles over the weekend, clear motorway, all the way, 43.1mpg and I NEVER broke the speed limit
PS kept it 1600-2300rpm, used 5th and 6th very rarely
If anything, the 220d is better for tax (company or Road) but not necessarily for economy at the pumps.
The shocking difference is mine is petrol. A couple of days around the doors and its dropped down to 35
but i am still impressed wth that.

The new £300 (and later £400) car tax only affects the IS250 manual, not the auto as this is in the lower tax band (£210).
I get an average of 29-30 mpg, making full use of the 204bhp and consider this a big improvement on the old 150bhp IS200, plus the 0-60 is very good too. As for price, well it is expensive but then again compared to taking off the Toyota badges and sticking Lexus ones on and adding £5k to the price which was the case of the old IS it's not so bad.
Helloooo,
Sorry i've not been around for a while.
On the subject of fuel economy, i did the regular run to Manchester last Friday
an was absolutly astounded by the economy im now getting.
Southbound filled up in Newcastle returned a tank average of 41.2 then on the return it slowly
crept up to a whopping 45.2 ! thats door to door used just less than half a tank on 320 miles.
I think the car must be finally easing up i now have 7.5k on the odo
On the tax thingy, mines a 250sel Auto registered in Sept 06 how does the tax jump effect me.

Hi Shapa,
Can you let me know if you have ordered one of these, i am about to have the Lexus version installed but
i think ill hold off a few days to see how the interface compares, if its the same as the Lexus version ill probably
just get the DICE Lexus kit fitted but if it allows track, album and/or artist selection and search then the Vaistech
will get the thumbs up, especially with the current exchange rate to us$
