This only works on Japanese models ,and not even all of them, it is trim/year dependant. Everyone can get retrofit done ,as its keypad itself that controls the auto fold function. The only issue is acquiring them, and finding out the part number. If Toyoda generous enough ,he might be able to check the part number on his ,or get his VIN number decoded through parts catalogue and check the P/N that way. Other options are just try to get a hold of JDM import parts ,or order straight from Japan. Although that would be hit or miss option as not every JDM model had auto fold from factory ,and retrofitting these keypads that supports auto fold was rather common in there.
I already sold my GS the only way I can target the parts is through this website, here is the link to the dashboard: https://lexus-japan.epc-data.com/gs460/urs190/161607/body/8401/?frame_no=URS190-5001099

For anyone who still has an interest in this vehicle, the car passed a health check with green lights at Lexus Leeds
They also changed the spark plugs and put fresh coolant as part of the service.- 2

The number 1 coolant leak issue on UR engines is on the top engine valley. It's a pretty common issue and sadly not every Lexus mechanic knows about it.
However, on the good side, it only takes to replace the sealant.
Also, I do recommend a service plan, it's not cheap but it's worth the part discount and good service. -

Beautiful car, is it still for sale?
Thanks Anthony! Yes, it's still for sale.

Hi everyone. Due to the rarity of my vehicle, I wanted to give a heads-up to anyone who is searching for a premium luxury to buy.
By the end of November, I will be selling my Lexus GS460 Jdm import with low miles of 57k at the moment. It is the 07 model finished in 1f2 Mercuri Metalic Color.
The reason for the sale is that soon we will have a baby and while my wife is on maternity leave we decided to keep only one vehicle to secure some savings.
I imported the car two years ago and since then only done just over 10k miles. The car had only one previous owner from the new and I am the second first owner in the UK.
The car has no mods. After importing it I enjoyed it in stock form so I decided to keep it this way and see if I would change my mind in the future.
After receiving the vehicle it was signed for a service plan at Lexus Leeds. The car already has passed 2 services and the last one will be on 7th of November so the new owner will have the car with fresh service and mot.
The car has new genuine brake disks and pads replaced by Lexus this year with all 4 new Yokohama tyres. It also has all past service documentation from the new.
The car has a rare interior trim spec, that I preferred more over Passion Black. It’s black with bird’s-eye maple trim and dark brown leather seats. The glove box has a toll card reader instead of a CD drive for maps. The infotainment OS is completely different to the EU or US market. It has extras like a TV and instead of the cassette player, it has a MiniDisc that still has a disc with classic music from the previous owner. The radio and TV are in the Japanese frequency range so the only radio you will be able to listen to is Radio 2. It has AUX and a second power socket in the armrest compartment where I use an AUX Bluetooth adapter that connects to my phone automatically so I can listen to any music. I will leave it for a new owner as it just works very well with the car. It also has a few more uncommon extras like an air ioniser and auto folding mirrors on car lock and unlock.
Now about the running costs which are pretty cheap for a 4.6L v8.
The car has only run on E5 98-99 very happily since the import and can return a very positive 29 mpg on long journeys on UK roads from my experience. The full tank will give you just over 300 miles of range. The car is ULEZ compliant, the last road tax was only £290 a year and it costs cheaper to insure than the Lexus CT200h that my wife has.
This is going to be one of those rare opportunities so if you are in the market for it, I would recommend viewing it.
I will be looking around 10k, also feel free to send me sensible offers if interested.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me on the forum or message me on my mob: 07598940537.

I just tried again and nope. Thought it might need to be in ignition off/electrics on or something but nope.
Instant I touch that key, the mirrors move. Doesn't wait for release like your's. Holding it does nothing.Sad to hear about it. At least you tried.

Doesn't seem to work on mine either.

Technically it shouldn't matter, as they are all programmable like for reverse and positon from the factory.
I've made the video just to showcase how it works.

Thank you for sharing Toyoda. And how do you disable it to go back to how it was?
Sorry for the late reply, you probably already figured it out, but it's the same process, just hold the button.

Last weekend I discovered that 3rd gen has an auto-folding mirror mode.
After looking around the forum I didn't spot any decent answer to it, so I decided to find out how I've managed to activate it.The feature works only when you lock the car and unlock it, doesn't matter if it's a door button or a fob.
If you didn't know & desire it as many people do, why not to try it.All looks very simple:
This is image of my unit, so all you have to do is to hold mirror button which marked with red circle till 2 mirror lights marked with green line starts flashing and you done.
I tested it back and forth and it all works for me, and I believe it should work for everyone.Just keep in mind I would disable it back over winter to keep your motors safe when unlocking the car.

I can’t speak for other Lexus models, but in my IS250, the auto folding of the door mirrors is enabled/disabled by pressing the switch labelled ‘auto’ in the mirror adjustment unit in the driver’s door panel.
You set it with the ignition on and confirmation pops up on the dash unit.
Mind you, some models don’t have this function anyway.. But it’s very useful as it confirms at a glance that the car is locked.
Hey Len, yes the 2012~ had this option and I believe GS models should have it by default being higher premium product it just more relevant for older models 05~12 they had just a button to manually open and close without any information about auto mod which actually exists within the system.

Nice Post Andrej. However I'm not sure where the Aux socket is in a GS or where a USB socket is for power.
Ideally you need to post a photo of its installation for others to see.
In the is250 for example more has to be bought. I've posted there how I did mine and provided a photo.
Thanks Vladimir!
Yes I agree, this post is not for every one as it is more targeted for people who have an AUX & power socket preferably in the arm rest storage compartment, as it is more plug and play option without any installation hustle.
I believe not all GS 3rd gen has AUX feature as it is the separate mode in the media unit:but in my case both AUX and second power socket are next to each other in the arm rest so it works very well:
However if that's not the case, people will need an internal option to wire a receiver into their media unit.

To save me trawling through the manual, does anyone know if the door mirrors can fold automatically?
On 5/17/2018 at 9:33 AM, Mike Hartland said:Apparently not, as I have requested this myself of the dealer, both on my previous car, a 55 plate GS and my current one an 11 plate GS. It seems that it is only an option on the mk4 (2012 onwards). I have heard of kits that people have bought that can do it and perhaps someone has a price for one of those.
I know it a bit too late but I will surprise you all! It can fold automatically as you lock the car!
How did I do that? I have no idea, unfortunately.I just was browsing through different settings to find clock changer as I forgot where it was as my unit all in Japanese.
But when I locked my car they just folded, I was a bit shocked and surprised and couldn't believe it. -
I thought I will share it with you all who are looking for AUX/USB Bluetooth receivers.
Sadly GS 3rd gen does not support music streaming through Bluetooth apart from phone calls, however we do have AUX input, so I was looking into different options.
It is not my fist device and so far the best one I found is this little box: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364191963550
The reason why it's the best cheap option is that it works only as a receiver so whenever you start your car it turns automatically ON and starts playing your phone's music.
No need to press any button like on some duel mode ones.
As regards the sound, it sound pretty good as well.
The price can be different for them as I managed to buy it cheaper than it is now, but £7 is well worth it for no hustle device.
Hope it helps some one who's in the market for it.

Can somebody please help? I am thinking about purchasing a 2008 Lexus is250 awd. The car has been imported to the UK from Japan but the multimedia display screen menu is in Japanese and the buttons outside the screen in English. Is it possible to change the software/ display screen menu to English and if so how. Who would I contact or where. Lexus UK will not help because the car is imported not by them.
There is a company in New Zealand that can do it, all you will have to do is to send them hard drive. However, it's not worth it as all it will do is translate so it won't change the OS which is dedicated only to the Japan region.
I think if you pop your plastic cover where the hazard warning light button is, there could be a CD player for maps, if there is one like the rest of the world has you could possible update your maps. You also can get away with switching the hole unit to UK one if you don't bother about JDM extras, or switching hard drive, that technically should change it to UK software.
In my case I have the same story as steve2006, just an input for a toll card, sexy lady greet and the rest of the system is updated through their sort of G portal which is I believe outdated and doesn't connect. The best way to live with OEM setup is the grom V line, it just works without much hassle, or find aftermarket display and some of them actually looks good in IS unlike GS or LS models.
I don't think TV will work unless you can find the way to expand the frequency for UK range.
For radio its the same story as TV, they only channel you can enjoy is radio 2 as its below 90 FM. but for radio there are radio frequency expanders, just google them.
Also if your car has power supply and AUX in armrest storage you can get Bluetooth AUX adapter that powers through USB, even the dirty cheap one will do the job as long as you have quality AUX cable from music gear shop as they make difference.
I think I covered most of the things I discovered over my ownership, hope it help🙂

I know right! took me almost 8 moth to find how to change the clock as it was in unusual place 😅

I drive roughly 20 mile a day atm 50% motorway and 50% city traffic and the display gives 17-19 mpg. however on my 40 mile commute with 75% motorway I had 24 mpg and its all on 99 E5.

Thanks for calming me down Malcolm!😅
My box feels ok, the car is just past the 50k mark so I don't feel an urgency to do it, I just wanted fresh oil in the box. -
The gearbox oil change is a headache in UK, I ask my dealership to service my box when I imported my car and they told me that they don't do it until there is a problem with it...

3gs and 4gs has pretty much the same offset. So fitment will be the same.

Hi All,
I was wandering if anyone have managed to do anything with cruise control limiter in JDM models.
So currently if I want to sent my CC I need to be below 70 mph, or precisely 68 mph and it never tops out even at 70 it will be closer to 69 (in real world its 65 mph).It is very uncomfortable on UK roads.
Its there any solution, like swapping cruise control module to UK one? -
It could all depend on the front brakes, but I was reading in the past that people run them with spacers as fitment is very off.
"ISF callipers aren't as thick as the gs350 brakes. someone already test fitted the is-f wheels on is350, which has the same brakes as gs350. just as I first guessed, the wheel spokes don't completely clear the 350 callipers"

According to the LS460 Owners Manual (2015) the oils to use are
Oil grade:
0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30:
API grade SL “Energy-Conserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving”or SN “Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
15W-40 and 20W-50: API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
SAE 0W-20 is filled into your Lexus vehicle at manufacturing,
and the best choice for good fuel economy and good starting in
cold weather. If SAE 0W-20 oil is not available,
SAE 5W-30 oil may be used. However, it should be replaced
with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil change. So, 0W20, 5W20 or 5W30 will all be fine, as will 10W30 so long as you don't live in the Scottish Highlands or anywhere where it gets below -18°C.
An engine is an engine regardless of any hybrid stuff attached to it, so use what is recommended if you can, or close to if you can't.
As for the Lexus dealer, they can't be bothered to carry multiple viscosities so they just buy one or 2 and buy in bulk. Thanks! that's helpful, actually my manual shows very similar chart, however, they point out as 0w20 is the best for efficiency.
3 hours ago, steve2006 said:Rare model here in the UK....any pictures? 😀
Yes, I do have some from Japan, but haven't made any new since it was imported.🙂 -
Hi All,
I don't own an LS but do have GS460 import, with 1UR-FSE engine.
My manual states that the oil I should use is 0w20.
After conversation with Lexus service advisor they told me that for gasoline engines they only use 5w30, and 0w20 is only for hybrid engines so they don't advise it.
So I want to know which oil spec people use in UK?
