  1. I have had so many problems sorting out rear reluctor rings - which is now fixed. However, the rear nearside (passenger) speed sensor has died. Any ideas where to get one gratefully received. MTIA
  2. Hi does anybody know of a great independent mechanic in the essex area. I’m having real problems getting rear reluctor rings replaced. My normal mechanic - who is usually excellent, has replaced a faulty one, but on reassembly there is a rubbing noise coming from that area, suggesting the ring is rubbing against the shroud/dust cover. I did see a post on the internet though, that said some models had slightly different outside diameter rings to others - 94mm, instead of 96mm. I would be grateful for any help. The alternative would be to fit a new or secondhand half shaft/rear axle, but my guy cannot remove the old one where it meets the diff.
  3. It turns out the reluctor ring, which I got from reluctorrings.com, is rubbing against the cover/shroud. I did buy two, one for each side. The mechanic tried fitting the second one in place of the first, but cannot get it to expand enough under heat to site correctly, despite the first one being straightforward to fit. Very frustrating.
  4. Has anybody had an issue with reluctor rings, from reluctorrings.com? I bought two recently to replace those on the rear of my SC430. The mechanic fitted the first, but it was rubbing the casing/shroud? The second, destined for the other side, does not expand enough under heat to slide into position. very, very frustrating - and getting expensive.
  5. I have just had the rear reluctor rings changed, but after reassembly there is a rubbing noise that the mechanic has yet to identify. Has this happened to anybody else? What is it likely to be? It is not the handbrake.
  6. Am I correct in thinking this typically only applies to the front wheels?
  7. Bought a 2005 SC430 today. Black, with cream leather. What a fantastic drive. Unbelievably, after a perfect 120 mile drive home, a problem occured when taking my wife out for a short drive! When I brake there’s a sort of buzzing noise that you can feel on the pedal. Any ideas please? Apart from that, I’m seriously impressed with the quality of the car. Hard to believe it’s 18 years old.
  8. Black one it is. Dealer gets incredible reviews, car is really top notch. Blue car only had a truly patchy service history.
  9. The dealer is paying -but the charge is £650.00
  10. http://binleywoodsapproved.co.uk This car is booked into Lexus Coventry for Timing belt and water pump replacement next week.
  11. Looking at these two cars in the next week or so. Blue is 2003 with 75k on the clock. Black is 2005 with 94k. Black is lower tax band. Both about the same price 9.5 - 9.7. what do you guys think?
  12. Sorry, SC430. I’m looking at buying one, but the one I like has no evidence of this important work having been carried out.
  13. Just been quoted a price of £1932.36 by Lexus for timing belt and water pump on a 2003 car. This seems way over the odds to me. What do you think it should cost?
