EGR valve needs to be programmed out and closed. Same for DPF. These two cause major hassle and ruin the car. Get those removed and Its like a different car. No issues getting MOT passed. All ok.

If hg ok or replaced recommend good remap to 200+hp.

Thanks for the advice Max, I have been considering an ECU remap, especially with fuel prices the way they are.

    What is "hg"?

    Cheers

  2. My 2009 IS220 diesel went into limp home mode last summer, the AA came out and diagnosed the EGR valve as the culprit. He tapped the EGR valve with a copper hammer and reset the ECU to get me on my way. The following weekend I cleaned the EGR valve out. A year on and there have been no further issues. I've documented the process in the linked video, hopefully someone will find this useful, as giving the EGR valve a clean costs next to nothing compared to a replacement EGR valve:

As a point of interest I grew up fixing motorbikes and cars using Haynes manuals for guidance ( pre internet days!) I have just looked and Haynes have an E manual available for the IS250 but not a paper book as such, at £26 it is probably a wealth of information but I can’t see a section for Rear Brake maintenance! It may be in there somewhere!

Thanks for the link Paul, it can search on your registration plate too, there's a separate manual for the 220d.

  4. Hi there,

    I need a new air filter for my 2009 IS220d SE L.

I've seen quite a few posts for IS250s with a K&N filter, but none for the IS220d.

Has anyone used a KN filter in the IS220d? Did it throw up any engine lights/codes, and do you think it helps the turbo breathe better, or is it a placebo effect?

    Cheers

  5. Hi Joel, nice to hear someone on their 2nd IS220.

I bought mine in 2017, no problems with injectors, but during lockdown in 2020 I had to change the Battery, as it doesn't like not being used for weeks at a time. Last year it went into limp home mode,  AA patrolman hit the EGR valve with a copper hammer, removed the error code and sent me on my way. I cleaned the EGR a week later, ran perfectly since.
