  1. Mine lasted from conception from 2009 to 2021. The rear silencer came off at 60mph and it kind of jack knifed under the car almost taking the bumper with it 🤨
  2. I have just had the MOT at my local Toyota garage, on the advisory was a cracked prop shaft flexible coupling disc. Has anyone else had this issue, I'm assuming its not a common problem.
  3. Hi Nick, did you get this problem sorted, I've just seen it now. I think the glow plugs could be part of the problem if they've never been changed. I had to change my glow plugs on my Avensis, with the 2AD FTV version of the 2.2 engine, I think I changed them at 150000 miles.
  4. Hi, just a couple of things, the IS220 is quite battery dependent. The fuel filter needs replacing regularly despite the long intervals Lexus give. Also clean the EGR valve, if you haven't already. Last, and the most fiddly, is new heater plugs, its one of them engines that need good heater plugs.
  5. Thanks for the advice Max, I have been considering an ECU remap, especially with fuel prices the way they are. What is "hg"? Cheers
  6. My 2009 IS220 diesel went into limp home mode last summer, the AA came out and diagnosed the EGR valve as the culprit. He tapped the EGR valve with a copper hammer and reset the ECU to get me on my way. The following weekend I cleaned the EGR valve out. A year on and there have been no further issues. I've documented the process in the linked video, hopefully someone will find this useful, as giving the EGR valve a clean costs next to nothing compared to a replacement EGR valve:
  7. Thanks for the link Paul, it can search on your registration plate too, there's a separate manual for the 220d.
  8. After reading this thread I'm looking forward to changing my pollen filter over the bank holiday (how sad) 😄
  9. Out of interest, a standard OEM air filter from Toyota is £30, a filter direct from K&N is £70, however on Amazon they are £55, indirectly from K&N.
  10. Hi there, I need a new air filter for my 2009 IS220d SE L. I've seen quite a few posts for IS250s with a K&N filter, but none for the IS220d. Has anyone used a KN filter in the IS220d? Did it throw up any engine lights/codes, and do you think it helps the turbo breathe better, or is it a placebo effect? Cheers
  11. Hi, on my 2009 220 I have to push the clutch pedal to the floor to turn it on, frustrating, it could never be used as a get away car to rob a bank.
  12. Hi Joel, nice to hear someone on their 2nd IS220. I bought mine in 2017, no problems with injectors, but during lockdown in 2020 I had to change the battery, as it doesn't like not being used for weeks at a time. Last year it went into limp home mode, AA patrolman hit the EGR valve with a copper hammer, removed the error code and sent me on my way. I cleaned the EGR a week later, ran perfectly since.
  13. Hi Marc, I'm intrigued by your ecu upgrade. I have a 2009 is220d with only 58k miles, below 1800rpm its gutless, but above 1800rpm pulls like a train, would you recommend your upgrade, where did you get it? I've thought about a remap, is that different to what you got? Matt
