  1. An hour or so drive this weekend and no probs, so hopefully fixed. Ironically the lead I have put in feels cheap and the one I have taken out is a short thick braided type. And CD's definitely superior quality but try telling my daughter that🤣

  2. Humble pie, I think it may be just loose connection between lead and socket within storage compartment. It seems both of the short leads I bought specifically for this purpose suffer from this but an old longer one from a bottom drawer does the purpose. Given all connections a clean with alcohol and checked for fluff. A pair of pliers on the short leads may have done the trick. I have got to know Tidal a little better in the process and its interaction with Siri, so every cloud.....

@Marcus63 great pictures. An LC group road trip would be great. Looking at them I have also noticed that my wheels, although they look the same, are actually reversed. Black wheels with silver. I never realised that before. I am guessing it’s because mine is a Sport where most shown are Sport Plus?

I maybe wrong but I think your wheels may be the newer versions, but I am happy to be corrected by more the more knowledgable here.

I use Spotify and Waze on an iPhone 13 and I do drive in countryside areas with little or no signal but have never had this or my Kia drop out and revert to the factory fitted nav or music. It’s an odd one - I wonder whether there’s a setting in the phone or car that needs changing. Mines 2021 and yours is 2022 so I’d think tech wise they’re identical.
It’s not the cable connection is it? I’ve had problems before with a dodgy connection - I used a paper clip, shut my phone off and dug out a ball of fluff from the inside of the FireWire socket on my phone!

Right, I am going to follow your procedure and see if I can find some fluff!

  5. And one I am less proud of, following an incident with a temporary curb in a drive through bakery. I blame the co-pilot!

Due to a nick in the sidewall on the tyre, we replaced it. When we saw the thickness of the run flats tyre wall, we realised that we had perhaps been over conservative, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks, all good info. Cable is fine, I am working on my phone/Tidal to see if I can sort it out. I have now enabled Siri and updated Tidal app so it works with Siri. An ideal bank holiday project😀.

I've seen three or four around Yeovilton area, not sure how local they are.  Green, white & dark blue hybrid.

Perhaps they are becoming more common in the SW but I remember not seeing one on the road in the whole year we were waiting for ours to be delivered. My wife got quite excited when the yellow hybrid drove past our house recently and started waving vigorously at the owner. Poor sod must have thought she needed taking away!

No idea on Tidal but I have a Spotify playlist downloaded on my phone and the Lexus (or any car) has never switched audio source on me while I’m using Spotify via CarPlay. Might be specific to Tidal?

Thanks, can I ask if you are using google maps or apple maps, does the screen revert to Lexus own SatNav if you lose signal?

  9. I live in a small Somerset town with a population of approx 20k. Given the rarity of LC's I am pleasantly surprised to know of at least 3 cars in Clevedon. A yellow hybrid, a white convertible and my blue Regatta. Anyone else with similar experiences in their localities?

  10. We get intermittent mobile signal in our town, so I download albums in Tidal app. (Similar to Spotify etc ). However as soon as we lose signal carplay reverts to lexus SatNav map and stops playing. I could understand it if I was streaming the music but I am playing stuff downloaded on my phone in Tidal App. Perhaps I am being a dinosaur but it makes me want to just play Cd's . Anyone help please?

  11. If anyone is interested, I know of a cancelled order on a new  LC convertible which may be for sale. Pearl White with dark blue interior and dark blue roof. I am not an involved party but can let anyone know the Lexus Dealership salesman's details if of interest. I bought my LC from this salesman and became aware of this ones availability while having mine serviced.

I guess this must be the Ultimate Edition.

Worth getting a sticker just in case. Marcus won’t have any problems with emissions - his low emissions Euro 6 compliant 5 litre V8 is just what Saddick wants us to drive. Right? Right??

    I have a 5 litre V8 and a 3.3 litre V6, both Euro 6. I’m doing it for Greta.

I have just applied for one. Lets see if it arrives on time and whether I have filled the form in correctly!

now to call my dealership re headlights and bulbs!

Definitely go for the single deck carriages - they're much wider - some cars eg Tesla default to single deck - the LC maybe isn't common enough for the system to work out the width could be a problem. You're usually following caravans, vans etc onto the single decks so make sure you're in the right lane early on.

UK stickers to numberplates rather than risking the paintwork with magnetic ovals with dirt underneath. Critair - as long as you get the pdf confirmation of your sticker order that'll satisfy them even if the sticker isn't on the car/arrived yet. If you're using the toll roads look at Emovis Toll transponders - much easier going through the Via Verde or green lane or whatever the french equivalent is without stopping, especially when you're RHD and trying to get your passenger wheels nice and close to the toll booth kerbs so your passenger can pay the toll - crunch!! Headlights - I queried this with Lexus and they said as above - no need for beam deflectors or adjustments - I'm not 100% convinced on that one to be honest. You need your V5 (not a copy) plus insurance cert. Amazon, Halfords etc sell an EU kit with the triangle and other legal tat including a bulb kit (err led bulbs??!!) - note the triangle and high vis for all passengers need to be within reach inside the car,  not in the boot.

I'm hopefully taking mine on the ferry through Spain to the Algarve next spring. Can't wait!

Oh, and note they all drive on the wrong side of the road...

All great stuff, thanks. We are not planning on visiting any cities requiring Critair, I don't think but will check and I think just one session on the autoroute. Planning cross country down through the Loire and down to the SE corner.  High viz and triangle I have already  and I think I have worked out how to switch off the automatic main beam adjuster, although in practise, night driving should be minimal. Thanks again.

Just use number plate stickers, unless you plan on visiting Spain where you'll need to display the black and white UK sticker.

Good idea, nothing magnetic at the rear. Just tested it with an old GB magnetic sticker which fell off wherever I tried to put it. Just going to Spain for a day with little driving, just a mile from the border, so I'll place a GB sticker against the rear window and  put the roof up for the mile or so. I am not sticking anything on the rear of the car!

If you're going by Eurotunnel, as daft as it sounds, you need to do this.

The standard carriages that you will automatically be booked on are very narrow by today's standards, and you will very easily damage your alloys

When booking, and using the dropboxes, state that you will be fitting a roof rack that will have bikes on!!

This will get you onto the high carriages with much wider metal kerbs, with less chance of damage to wheels. You'll be accompanying motor homes etc.

Make sure you follow the high/wide arrows from the booths to the train.

It'll cost a little more, but well worth it.

Thanks, the reason we are going by Euro tunnel rather than Ferry was to protect the car, so damage to the alloys is the last thing I want! We have already booked Flexiplus so perhaps we could cancel and re-book with the roof-rack option. Can I assume that it will not be a problem turning up in that section with no roof rack given it is a convertible?

update, thanks again for the info, I have just changed the booking to a high sided vehicle. Cost an extra £60 in total but  compared to the pain of wheel damage...

  16. We are off to France for a month shortly in our LC conv. Looking forward to the trip but its been years since we took a car to Europe. Any advice would be welcome. I know we need high viz jackets in the car and a triangle. I also read that we now need a UK sticker. Magnetic? Whatever will do least damage to the paintwork I guess. Do we need to make any adjustments to the headlamps?  Thanks in anticipation. I will try to post some photos.

  17. I saw a link to a podcast on an LC facebook page and so far it makes fascinating listening. The story behind the LC after one US journalist described Lexus's as boring.

Its called 'Go and see' by Malcom Gladwell. Six shortish episodes. I am only half way through but great stuff to date.

Perhaps all fellow owners can now source from "morethanpolish" who now have the required template. 😃

Yes, although, I screwed up copying the stock rear mats, which was even more stupid, given I had adjusted the front ones to what I thought would be a better fit. They could  and should be larger, not that its an issue given they will so rarely be used. I should say that I have no connection with the company but would highly recommend their custom mats. Lots of colours, finishing trims etc and I thought £110 for a set of 4 seemed very fair
