  1. Hi and Welcome to the club :) .

My Aristo is a mk1 so i can only comment on a few things.

Get the car checked over before you buy it,they are very reliable cars but the parts arent cheap :excl: Ive read of problems with the rear wheel steering on the mk2 so thats worth checking out.

As to the mpg,you will have to run the car on super unleaded so bear that in mind with the price of fuel.

Around town id say i get around 20 mpg and on a steady run i was getting around 33ish mpg.Thats just a rough guide :)

My car is stock with no mods,if you start modding the car then yea you will get more Bhp but at a cost of mpg.

    Good Luck with buying.

    Cheers chips.

Thanks for all the info so far- luckily MPG is not a big problem as my compnay picks up the fuel bill :-) one of the rare car allowance schemes where i get a fully expensed fuel card and cash allowance for my own car.

  2. Get a Mark IV (1998 onwards)!

www.Lexus.co.uk will show differences between LS 400 models.  (I used ebay to get relevant brochures.  Very inexpensive and great fun.)

My Mk III has Devonshire Cream interior and it's nearly a full-time job trying to keep the carpets clean.  I will go for Pembroke next time (still want a Mark IV).

Beware of one thing.  You'll never want to go back to a 'lesser' car.

Thanks for the informtion sounds like good advice, any one got a MK 1V for sale? What do you think is the cost range of a good quality with FSH?

  4. Help, Yes I know, buy the best you can afford, but I need to understand is there much difference between years. I can probably afford up to a 2000 model or therabouts . Are there changes to the model which make one year or poste one year a particularly better model? I will buy later this year and have just started my research. As usual I want an immaculate buy with FSH preferably a dark clour with cream interior. Be glad to hear of your views you lot are probably the most experienced Lexus drivers after all.

  5. I retire next year. For the last 30 years I have driven over 40,000 miles PA, thats right mathematicians that over 1.2 million miles. I have had almost every car you can thing of other than BMW .

So here's the quest I have test driven both the LS400 & LS430. Both are superb & I want one of them either a late LS400 or early LS430 (the eventual choice next year will be a cost thing). But & there always is one isn't there? The only way I can afford the running costs of either of these superb vehicles, is if I convert to LPG. I will not be doing the mileage I used to but I reckon I will still be doing circa 12,000 miles pa.

    So does it work?

    Do the economics make sense?

Power loss of a minor nature does not matter plenty left for anyone

    Any clear downside issues?

Let me know what you think.

    Leo
