  1. I have reset my password for the second time and this seems to have worked. Thanks for all the input.
  2. Thanks for your input. I don't know what the in-car message refers to. I have tried using my Lexus ID and my email address as the user name when inputting info in the car, and I only have one password for all Lexus websites. I have no problem signing in to any Lexus website when using my PC, but my car seems to think I have some other user name or password. Fortunately, hitting the touch pad deletes the message and everything then works as it should, however it would be nice to know why it has suddenly started doing this. Some time ago I kept receiving a message saying that the server was not available, but that has now gone away without any action from me. I think artificial intelligence is taking over.
  3. A message has started to appear on the screen saying 'User name or password is incorrect. Try again'. The message disappears when the touch pad is pressed, but reappears whenever I restart the car. I changed my Lexus password but this hasn't solved the problem. My Lexus dealer had never heard of this. I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem and can tell me what the message refers to.
  4. Thanks Nick, I've just gone through the same procedure and everything is now OK. At least for the moment!
  5. Thanks for your quick reply Peter. My previous car was a plug-in hybrid BMW and I often used to sit with the engine off and radio on for long periods, and never had a problem. Obviously the Lexus is different, so I'll follow your advice. Cheers, Malcolm
  6. The day after a 200 mile round trip I was sat in my parked car with the ignition in the Accessory Mode and the radio on. After about half an hour I tried to start the car but it failed to start. I called roadside assistance and the AA patrolman said the battery was flat. After jump starting the car, he said that the battery needed to be replaced as it was not accepting a charge very well. Page 134 of the handbook says that the 12 volt battery condition can be checked by the indicator on the top of the battery; BLUE means Good Condition, RED means Charging is Necessary, and CLEAR means Replacement is Necessary. The indicator on mine is clear so I had the battery checked by the Lexus dealer. The Lexus technician said that there was nothing wrong with the battery and he put it on charge for a couple of hours. He also said they do not accept the AA diagnosis, and despite what it says in the handbook I should ignore the inbuilt battery indicator. He also said if I wanted to listen to the radio when parked I should keep it in Ignition On mode so the engine will keep cutting in and out. I was thinking of fitting a BM2 Bluetooth 12 Volt Battery Monitor but as it draws a constant 1.5 milliamps I am not sure if this is a good idea. Can anyone tell me what the drainage current is when the car locked and completely shut down?
  7. I have recently started getting the same 'Provider Not Available' message on my Lexus UX screen on start-up. I contacted my local dealer but they say it's the first they have heard of this problem and cannot explain what the message refers to. I will be interested to hear from anyone who has managed to find an answer. In answer to Paul's question, I haven't done a map date recently. Malcolm
  8. The run-flat v normal tyre debate mainly concerns road noise, ride comfort, convenience and price issues. With my previous four cars (all BMW's) two had run-flats and two had normal tyres, and having had the misfortune to have had punctures with both types my views are as follows: Road noise is more to do with with the road surface than the type of tyre. Run-flats may be a little noisier but the difference is negligible when compared with the noise levels from different road surfaces. My last SUV had normal tyres with sports suspension, and when I first took my wife for a drive in my Lexus UX with run-flat tyres the first thing she commented on was how much smoother the ride was. Regarding convenience, I prefer not to carry tools or a spare wheel as they take up a lot of otherwise usable space, and having experienced punctures with both types of tyre and suffered the inconvenience of using the compressor and goo remedy on a cold wet winter's night, I think this is a no-brainer in favour of run-flats. Although run-flats are more expensive and usually require a new tyre in the event of a puncture, I think the benefits far out weigh the disadvantages.
  9. Many thanks for your quick replies. I have logged on to lexus-tech.eu/Default.aspx and registered, but I cannot find a way to input the VIN code for my vehicle.
  10. Is it possible to get a full and accurate car specification from the VIN code?
  11. Many thanks for all your replies. Following the advice received I have now successfully installed the update. Thanks again for your help.
  12. I have a message saying 'Map is too old', and I have a 2022v2 update with an activation code which I am trying to install. Following the instructions in the manual I have downloaded the update from the MyLexus website onto a USB memory stick, but when I insert the USB stick into the car I get a message 'Checking USB device. Wait...' and then nothing happens. Can anyone help?
