  1. I agree, it is definitely not normal and the view is they are not sure what to do. Question is, where can you take the car to get the problem identified and resolved, although I will take this up with Lexus HQ next. Thanks
  2. I have a '63 plate LS600 hl (103k miles) which has developed a noticeable 'clicking' sound upon depressing the brake pedal. Its more than the feint click you can expect with some hybrid Toyota/Lexus models. Dealer had changed out the brake actuator under warranty (apparently) before, sound disappeared for a few months, and now its back. The message I get is that this is quite normal, but I am sure it isn't. Any suggestions as this seems more than a microswitch operating. The sounds comes from behind the front bulkhead, in the pedal box area. Would like to know if anyone on this forum has experienced the same and/or has advice for me to present to the dealer. Thanks.
  3. In response to blue marlin, correct, its a question of how it is getting in. No collected water anywhere, have checked for that but my concern was whether water was getting inside the boot lid itself, given how it drips and collects from around the seam of the lid but it must pool somewhere. Next step is to try and clean out the channels but it may need the sealing strip removed which I will leave for the dealer to do.
  4. Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the late reply. I've carefully checked the gasket and it is perfectly intact, no tears or compressed areas, looks like new. However upon closer examination, at either end of the plastic strip which runs along the length of the base of the rear window there are around 10 rectangular what I assume are drain holes? Behind these is a of debris which has dried out and appears to be caked to the plastic. Perhaps the rain is supposed ti drain through these channels and into the drain channel which runs along the inside length of the boot and is always bone dry? Another quick question for this forum, two wet patches beneath the car which looks like no more than water (no small), assume A/C related to condensation, is that normal for a car of this type/age? Thanks
  5. I have a MY14 LS600hl and have a question for this forum which I hope someone might provide some guidance on. This concerns rain water leaking into the boot from both sides of the lid when opened, the water draining from the point indicated in the photos below (which corresponds to light cluster, the water beads and drains from the boot lid seam . After a heavy downpour, the amount of wafer is significant, and is drips either side onto the carpeted boot area, both having access panels so I assume house something electrical? The Lexus dealer has taken a quick look and had no immediate answer but I will return it to them for a more detailed investigation (car is under warranty) but it seems that rain in diverting into the boot lid in some way as the gutter which runs around the body where rain should flow is dry. Comments, trouble shooting ideas or solutions to this problem would be appreciated. Thanks Mark
  6. Many thanks for the helpful feedback. Speaking with a local Lexus dealer confirms that there should be no issue with OBD comms but they need to see the car to confirm. Regarding the Japanese text which remains, this is hard coded and cannot be changed via software menus or Techstream. So translation will required, especially for any error message that appear on central screen between speedometer and rev counter A web search showed that in the US and NZ there are companies that can reprogram the previous gen LS software to all English but it is a system out job, nothing here in the UK for the post 2013 models, probably because there are so few of them. Still thinking about an import model, the two advertised on Autotrader look like very good value but seem ‘cheap’ if you see what similar models are going for via Japanese car import web sites. More investigation required! Thanks again James
  7. I am looking to buy a LS600h/l and some Japan import models have recently become available on Autotrader. If anyone could help on with following, that would be appreciated as there is very little information out there on import spec LS600s -Sat Nav has been confirmed as not working and it is not possible to re-set maps to UK. Hard coded it seems? One option is to install a wireless Car Play system, does anyone have any experience of the Beat Sonic system which is like a Grom but compatible with later generation LS models? -Might there be an issue with OBD diagnostic connectivity, eg given Japan car origin? Only way to find out might be to take to Lexus dealer to check? Am not sure if OBD language is locally set or always English? -Same for Hybrid Health Check, which import cars do not have documentation for. Even though a low age/mileage car, this is worth getting checked out. Not sure if check is via OBD or in car settings accessible by dealer? Thoughts, feedback would be welcome from the Lexus owners club community! Thanks James
