  1. Sorry for a somewhat late reply Derek but just today read your post.

As a similar deaf old sod ! I too have my Samsung Ultra connected via Bluetooth for taking calls direct to my HA along with TV connector etc.

When I am in the car all calls and sat nav directions come through the normal car speakers and I can usually hear them OK with sound turned up !

Not sure that you can have same streaming [sat nav directions etc] through the car media as in so doing would interfear with hearing both passengers and sounds outside the vehicle.

Sorry I cannot be of any more help

  2. And.........another one here also with all the same problems after update, including no live Sat Nav info and the' dreaded two crossed out arrows and blue screen' on start up   .........so frustrating and annoying on such an expensive and so called reliable product.

Booked into dealer this week for second time. Do hope and pray that this time it will be resolved as starting to lose faith

  3.

In continuation of this subject i.e updates during Feb ;  [Sorry unable to copy link to this post.]

Try going to the Lexus UK magazine website under section "do you have any questions"

Look to end of Feb questions/ comments and Lexus replies ....that says it all.

I wonder how long this fix will take....in the meantime...... Yours frustrated !!!!!

then went through the Infotainment Settings screens from top to bottom. I found some of my preferences needed to be set again (such as linking my key, pairing with my phone) but others were remembered, presumably stored along with my account info at Lexus.

Touch wood, several on/off cycles and a couple of journeys later, and all seems to be well and the connection arrows have remained blue (connected) since performing the above.

Hope this helps and works for you. Good Luck!

Thank you Malcolm for your very clear and detailed fix and glad to hear that it worked for you.

However as someone who is not that tech savvy when it comes to actual resets etc, and with respect, if part of the work was not understandable and scary for you.... then I have decided to leave well alone.

It is such an annoyance, disappointment, and shame that a high end luxury expensive vehicle should have these ongoing MultiMedia /app type of problems, and at the same time told by the media of excellent Lexus reliability. Like many others I have lost count of the number of 'updates' for phones, PCs, apps, etc over the years with no problems whatsoever.

I will try to ignore the let down and hope that between now and the next service, some further fix 'update' becomes available although that in it self could be scary !!

I wonder how many Lexus owners up and down the country have the same issue right now.

I reset the settings in the Infotainment screen.  I had to do this 3 times! On the third time, a different QR code was displayed and there was a third option to agree to (previously only 2 agreement options were showing).

After completing all the options, I now have a car that doesn't need my agreement every time I get into it (ie the connectivity arrows are staying blue and not greyed out) and the app is showing the trip data

Interesting and glad you are back up and running.....lucky man!!

So as someone who is still battling on as you did, and have been  using the Link + App 2.5.2 for some time..... three questions please Malcolm

[a] Should I try uninstall /reinstall of app first

[b] What settings did you reset in the info screen i.e which steps please

[c] If a or b works for me what is your favourite tipple !!

  6. So...one week on since latest update and getting frustrated.

App not showing trips, overview of economy/ mpg/speeed etc, car location, incorrect door locked/unlocked.

One hour spent at dealer this week for reset and no further forward. Got the feeling that they are giving up as now passing the problem to my 3 month old Samsung phone compatibility! which worked fine since before the update.

Looking at the top right of screen on start up it shows the two arrows with line through it[ someone mentioned this in a previous post] which I am sure is the connection issue problem. When I go into settings, security/info, activate all data to on, Use location date, to on, then agree to T&C. The two arrows now disappear....trips, car location, now working fine......until I switch off. Switch back on and back to square one i.e two arrows back with same issue on the app.

On first trying i.e settings, activate all data screen, etc, there is also a blue button named Security Lock [see pic]. On activating this it then comes up with a notice saying it may require a password should the unit loose power, so left it alone just in case.

Would appreciate if someone can confirm if this Security Lock should be in the on position, before I try that, should it work .....OR  if anyone has the same problem and now fixed then again would greatly appreciate any help, before I take this issue further.

Tried calling Lexus MultiMedia Team yesterday. Answer machine only which informs that "due to a recent update this department is very busy to take any calls, please get help from the website etc "

    I wonder why !!

  7. I am now well into my second year of ownership of my first Lexus after [as other member of this forum] owing various makes and models through the past number of years and on each change the technology and toys become more prominent making the actual issue of driving more comfortable, enjoyable and  less stressful. Yes we all know that to have all of these lovely things costs money and the Lexus is certainly up there in the expensive category

The Lexus itself does all of this with one main exception....the Multimedia which in my opinion is not fit for purpose for such a high end motor car.

After reading the last and previous posts on this subject I am at a loss as to why we [and I include myself] put up with this failing item, with owners re-setting, re-starting, re-profiling, turn off/on..only to find that something else is not working or missing information. I have more or less given up with the  [new!! ] version of the  Lexus phone app.

My unit [as others] updated over the weekend....and as others, find that the traffic congestion is no longer there. But more importantley, my 20+ saved destinations  have now been deleted completely which is infuriating to say the least, is no fault of my own.... and should just NOT happen.

We all own a mixture of mobile phones, Laptops, PCs, TVs etc etc that from time to time all require updating...and from my experience just switch back on and continue as normal.

Why can't a much more expensive Lexus Multimedia Tech not do the same ??

I wonder what an employed Lexus Multimedia technician would do if after updating his /her mobile phone, switched on to find the all the contacts had been wiped or documents disappeared from a PC

....they would complain or fix it and not purchase the same model again!

John....I believe m/kwh is the best way of measuring efficiency. Whilst it doesn't directly give you actual miles, we know that a full traction battery has roughly 13kwh of usable power. So multiplying trip m/kWh by 13 gives a good indication of actual miles.

Totally agree ; cannot see any reason in taking notice of milage figures quoted on app or car after charging, be it winter or summer.

As you say it is the many caveats [and in particular the weather] that determine the actual milage.

Yes you're right. My NX MY 2024 450h+ Takumi came with Bridgestone Alenza Runflats on 20" wheels. I think they're far noisier than they should be, probably due to a stiffer carcass. Whilst running in electric mode it's the only noise you hear as the car itself is very quiet. Having said that I've only done just over 5,000 miles so will wait for the Alenzas to wear out. Favourites for replacement will be Michelin Cross Climate 2's. I'll need to buy an electric pump and repair kit I guess. Not sure about the tyre valves so I am researching for issues.

Sorry if this has been asked before.....but when mine wear out ...is it OK to replace current 20 " Bridgestone runflats with say Michelin Cross Climate non-run flats ?

Though I read somewhere that runflat alloy wheel rims are manufactured only for that type of tyre.

  10. I now tend to enter my real world miles per kWh into the vehicle section of my Wall charging app (Hive in my case) this then tells me based upon kWh received via the charge as to the possible range. So in the summer I was running at 4.1 mile per kWH against a capacity of 14.3kWh, therefore I tended to get 58 ish (and did) now its more like 2.1-2.3 miles to kWh, so.. based upon the capacity also dropping off a little to 14.1 is now more like early 30's.. again, feels realistic..

Totally agree Pete and makes a lot of sense. Since getting the car whatever the prediction shown on the app [old or new] be it winter or summer I have always ignored these stated figures and noted the miles per Kw as the true prediction. As you rightly state by multipling the Battery Kw by the miles per KW gives a much truer figure. As a previous owner of a 100% EV it was the Miles per KW as the key...and again this figure always dropped quite significantly with a EV due to no ICE to fall back on for heating etc.

    32 miles for a max of 14Kwh (full charge) = 2.3 m/Kwh. Assume you pay standard rate of about 26p/Kwh = 11.3p/mile

Assume 45 MPG (obviously varies on mix of driving) Cost of gallon = £1.50x4.5 (litres) = £6.75/gallon Cost per mile =6.75/45 which = 15p/mile

So with an all year average of for, arguaments sake, 3 m/Kwh (will probably be higher than this) cost per mile would be 8.7p/mile. Petrol would need to be 87p/Litre at current prices to match elecricity. Even with the increase in electric prices in January (5%) we are a long way from petrol being the fuel of choice for our PHEV's.

Hope I have those figures right!

Thanks for that Colin...and as said by others, better to keep charging and use the benefits that we have paid for in purchasing a Hybrid even if only 25/ 30 miles.

Still a bit confused in reading the posts  [and my own app] showing predictions after full charge and the actual milage during this cold spell.

I fully understand why we are all getting a reduced milage due to heating etc , so why the somewhat large discrepancy in the predictions v milage actual.

I would have thought that if the software was accurate it would readjust the prediction figures accordingly based on journeys made over a certain period.

So people who have  heating seats, steering wheel, windscreen etc on will have a smaller prediction than others who are more frugal 🥶

Is it therefore worth looking at the prediction figures at this time. Just hope that as long as the occupants  are at least reasonably comfortable that a decent milage is obtained from the charge.

OK guys excuse me if I jinx it, but I have just been out in the car and the issue has not reoccurred over a couple of stops and starts. 🤞

So....after a few weekend trips to shops and lunch date ....the dreaded 'Geolocation pop up' has disappeared....i think🫣....Now to be followed by the second dreaded 'Profile Sync" pop up. requiring password imput etc 🤬

I seem to spend more time prodding the car screen than sending texts on my phone...what a system !!

  13. Yes....and another one with same problem.... on a 450+. As  others, I have pressed OK button and followed instructions to re-instate, only to get same on next trip.

It also shows a 'reset' in red, wanting password etc....I have left this well alone.

Would suggest that Lexus owners who do not read this forum will be queuing outside or on the phone to respective dealers.

Beginning to agree with many people on this forum, that it is a great car totally let down by Multimedia software

  14. Hi,

Some assistance if poss ; Bought two replacement Bosch wiper blades and struggling a bit. as I don't to damage any fixings etc.

Have tried various non-force methods by lifting, pushing and also small screwdriver under the black flap [pic] with no success.

I assume that they are both secured via the 'Hook' method. As the Bosch installation instructions show this on the packing ....but does not how to remove the existing

Any help would be very much apprecaited

Thought I'd tag a couple of questions on the end of this thread.

My NX450h has the 9.8 inch multimedia and navigation system. I can't for the life of me find the map data version. In the manual it says settings>navigation>map update. However there is no map update option on that screen selection.

On the my Lexus portal in the eStore purchased app section it says I have Mapcare Lexus (1/31/2023 - 1/31/2030) Active

I may well be being dumb but would appreciate any advice how to check current map data and if necessary update.

I do use Android Auto but my wife uses the Lexus Satnav so I do want to keep it updated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just checked same source [e-store] and mine is showing 10/14/2022-10/14/2029...so like you would like to know if we are both using updated maps

I have a 2022 NX450H which did the same thing to me - flat battery with no warning and entrapping me for a while till I managed to find the non electric way of opening the door. Not a pleasant experience at all. Fortunately it happened in a quiet car park with friends who came to my assistance but even they were concerned about getting me out of the car. It was raining heavily and the windows stopped functioning too. The AA appeared after 3 hours, connected a boost to the battery and all was well.

But why did it happen? Since my last computer upgrade visit to the garage, I noticed that all the heating  appliances such as seats and steering wheel switch on automatically until I switch them off. I had also been on the phone for the short run, hence battery would have been draining. I never had this problem with my last car, Porsche Macan which certainly had a bigger battery. Is Toyota skimping on the battery? A low battery warning light would have been helpful.

As my partner said it could have been grievous if it was a fire or medical emergency and people couldn't get me out.

Just read these posts and feeling rather concerned. As a 76 year old with a disabled partner you may understand why..... should we, or I get into the same situation i.e locked inside the car, or out of it!

Given that these vehicles are of £55k plus and [was told] that they are very reliable manufacturers, this is very worrying. To read in these post that in now 2023 after similar expensive purchases, some owners are buying and fitting additional Battery leads and chargers [just in case] is surely a sad and worrying state of affairs. As I see it, right now if the same did happen [flat battery] due to no fault of my own and without any prior warnings, then I would seriously be thinking of changing.  Or am I getting over concerned?

Elias, did you eventually open the door by pulling the lever twice or some other way. I assume that if locked out of it then one would use the metal key inside the fob. But then if that happened then all the electrics would be dead, and a call to Lexus emergency would be required.

Sorry to ask these basis questions  [1] if this Battery is charged by the engine and not via the hybrid plug in.... nearly all my trips are in EV mode, so if the ICE is not used how is it topped up?

[2] is the ICE started up via this [small] Battery using a normal starter motor. If so surely that would quickly deplete it if I made a number of short stop start trips?

Had the notification today that the old app will cease to exist shortly and advising to download the new one., which I have done.

A shame really since the now ‘old’ app has been working a treat whilst you guys have been beta testing the new one. Every single journey over the past 3 months or so appeared within a couple of hours of completing. Lock/unlock instructions worked fine as did presetting CC etc.

Now for the frustrations with the new one 🙄🤞

Yes Paul.....same here. Have put off  downloaded the +app as......... 'if it ain't broke' etc etc !!

So have today  done the same as you and have my fingers crossed. Hopefully if it works as good as the previous then thumbs up from me .
