  1. My daughter has a 2009 Lexus is220d. The battery fitted is not an original. What ah and cca are best for the is220d. Thanks Bill W.
  2. Hi Shahpor, The way the pipework looks in the thread you recommended look exactly the same as are in my daughters car. Looks like the EGR has been bypassed!!!! Bill W.
  3. I am still trying to understand the workings of this egr. I understand the principle of it, taking a portion of the exhaust gas and feeding it back into the inlet manifold to reduce nitrous oxide being expelled out of the exhaust. How does this work on the lexus? Where, on the egr is the exhaust gas input and where is the output? All information gratefully received. Thanks. Bill W.
  4. Linas P, On this car of my daughters, the egr is in the same place, but in the diagram you shared the tube that comes out of egr vertically and the bends to the rear of the engine, bends to the front of the car on my daughters???

  6. The 2009 Lexus is220d that my daughter bought is fitted with a turbo, is that u usual? I ask because I want to take off the EGR to give it a good clean and have been looking at a few you tube videos, all of which show the part that is fitted on top of the egr with 2 nuts has the pipe from it exiting towards the rear of the engine. On my daughters car it faces towards the front. I am curious as to why the difference? What would a good cleaning fluid to use to clean out the carbon. I saw a before and afer test using a well known egr cleaner, used in accordance with the instructions and there was no difference at all. I was hoping that there is a preferred fluid to get rid of the carbon?
  7. Hi, A blast at 2000rpm gets the DPF up to working temp and continuing for approx 20 minutes burns off all the deposits left from short runs. How exactly does the Forced Regen via the Techstream work? Thanks Bill W.
  8. Another quick question. Is there any indication or warning light that indicates the DPF needs regenerating? Is it just the 2,000 rpm blast for 20 mins or so? Bill W.
  9. Hi Declan, I think I might have got lucky. Although I hadn’t figured out how it fitted, I actually have ordered one earlier today. It wasn’t until I saw the exploded diagram you posted that it clicked as to how it fitted. Just a bit crude for the Japanese though?? Where did you get that diagram from? Thanks Bill W.
  10. This is the clamp that is on the car. The battery appears not to be original but still works OK. The photo’s show that it appear that there is a fitment for a hook to fit in. On the battery box there is a slot that another hook would fit into. Confused in Hull. Bill W.
  11. Hi, This 2009 lexus is220d I am trying to sort for my daughter is missing one of the fixings for the battery clamp. The one that hooks into the bulkhead is there along with the cross battery part of the clamp. What does the other fixing that goes from the clamp on the top of the battery to the base of the battery box, look like?? And how does it fit into the battery box and the clamp?? Thanks Bill W
  12. Hi, my daughter has just bought a 2009 Lexus is220d. I need to take out the battery to replace the battery tray. There was no relevant paperwork with the car with any radio code or information on the procedures to follow in the event of having to remove the battery. Does the 2009 lexus is220d use a radio code? If so, how do I go about getting one? Thanks BillW
  13. I don’t know why everyone is knocking the diesel Lexus. I have had diesel cars for years and never had trouble. I presently run a diesel Jeep. The car my daughter has bought has 200,000 plus miles on the clock and the engine and running gear are fine and quiet. Maybe it is just one of the good ones? Another couple of questions. Where is the best place to get bits and pieces for a Lexus? The under bonnet covers are all just laid over the sides with all the fasteners missing. Where can I get these fasteners? I also need a battery tray, as the battery is loose and the threaded fastener nearest the front of the car is missing. The clamp that fits over the battery is either not the right one, or it is an incorrect battery fitted, as it doesn’t seem to sit correctly across the battery. Thanks Bill W.
  14. Hi, Brand new member here who has been given the job of maintaining the above Lexus that my daughter is getting today. First question. Is this the right Forum for her Lexus. Second question. What is the “Go to” device for checking for fault codes that will work with Apple devices ie iPad. Thanks Bill W.
